Well, the yamaha c600 showed up yesterday. Haven't spent but maybe 10 minutes with it. Cant get it to operate. Loaded some cd's in it, but can't get them to play. Door keeps popping out . have to have more time to figure out what i'm doing wrong.
Listening now. I rebias kt77 to .40 from the .45 and i think there is a small improvement in sound. Better sound stage to me. Power transformer is now hot again and the output trans is a few degrees warmer. Sounds good to my ears. Listening to neil young freedom. What a great recording

Wasn't sure, but i didn't think it sounded as good at .45 vs .40 and now the transformers don't get hot like it used to. Not sure if the bias settings could cause the issue.
Been moving cd's around in the sony changer and the problem is with the cd's not the player. Could use a cleaning im sure anyway. Its be going since 2004 05? New yamaha will be here thru.
Ok, had them at .40 and reset the .450 and now power and output transformers run warm. Used to run hot. Would this be normal? Maybe amp is taking a dump?
well I missed out on the Yamaha cdc600bl on ebay. it went for$ 252 and I only bid til $235. I found another factory refurbished cdc600bl on the web for $230 shipped. I ordered it as I think the sony c333es is on its way out. was using it yesterday and it would just quit reading cd's while playing. thanks for all the help guys. hope the Yamaha is better than the sony.
I have had my chinese el34 amp for maybe 14yrs now and never tried kt77 tubes in it. What a positive different. Cant believe how much more open and realistic the music is with much more bottom end and this is in comparison to the EH fatbottles i used to use. If you havent tried jj kt77 you should. You just might like them. I bias them hot at .450mv.
