Probably because Tape Outs are usually set at a fixed volume.  He'd have to adjust the loudness of the sub by adjusting the sub's gain anytime he changed the master volume.

Well this is totally normal and why the sub has multiple line level inputs, comes with an IR Remote control, and has an App for adjusting volume. Good luck connecting a sub with variable input in this scenario where the volume of the sub matches or blends with the volume of the speakers at all volumes. The sub volume will have to be adjusted regardless of connection method.

That's probably because it's your group and you're a member of the group.  It still doesn't work for me.

Whatever the reason, I have yet to receive an invite from FB, so [emoji2369]
Maybe just a case of technology and opinions beyond one’s willingness to adapt.

  4. Link I posted works fine and you should not have to search. Just checked it.
    Dave

OK, but it should come up with a search. Perhaps I was blocked at some point? Did it used to be called something else?

  5. Just bear in mind it is NOT a safe zone and there is moderation only if threats of violence occur.

Weird, I search FB Groups for “Heritage BS” and get nothing but other groups [emoji2369] No group shows up for me named that.

  6. After well over 22000 posts, (5k more of which of which were deleted by the PC  Police on orders of legal) I find it time to bow out. KGI is no  more and PWK would turn over in his grave at the attitudes of the Forum members. I loved it all and made so many great friends here. I'll still go to Forum gatherings but not Klipsch sponsored. I'm for resuming the Forum sponsored Pilgrimages and would be happy to help given I have experience with them. I am NOT really mad at anyone, but certainly upset with many of my old friends who blow off newbie questions and run off many members. Recently I posted in the 2 Channel Forum that someone needed to post how to connect Heritage speakers for a two channel system and it was roundly scoffed at by many folks I consider friends. They said "That's the dealers job" and "If they can't do that they shouldn't have Heritage" etc. That did it. When we forget PWK and how we all started out that's just too much. Also, it has just not been the same since KGI legal shut down the BS Forum. I'd fought for its restoration after being shut down by the actions of an idiot and won. Then another idiot came along and that was it. I lost thousands of posts I'd intended to save and put in a book dedicated to PWK and free speech.

Anyway, you guys carry on. I'll lurk from time to time and look forward to seeing you at gatherings. I know PWK would understand my actions and hope my old friends will as well.

Agree with what you’re saying. Why not start your own forum and run it the way you want it? Just a thought...
    Happy New Year

  7. He put his contact info at bottom of that post:

I don't have much time to respond to questions via this forum but I can be reached during normal business hours at theaudioroom@verizon.net or by phone - 412-401-6915.

Jim was prompt to respond via his email when I reached out. I’m sure others will say the same thing.

  8. 40+ years ago… And do not assume that every single inductor utilized a brass screw, many did not.

Referring to the one particular round one on this particular (newer) AA design on the right. It was pointed out that the application is to be a brass screw.

  9. OK because so many use brass I assumed this was right to do. You got me curious and it led me to http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/coils.htm
      and then to https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/mounting-air-core-inductors.639281/

Now what I don't know is if the original design intent allowed for the minor change brass would make. Tolerances on things have gotten much tighter since the days of AA crossovers but evidently any metal can effect the coil to some degree. So now I have a new rabbit hole to go into.

And there in lies my assumption of original design, development, and testing being done with brass screws.

  10. Based on the AA networks on the left (which are in my 1974 Klipschorns), I have been listening to them for several years now and have been kicking around updating or replacing them. I had been leaning towards something from ALK. I never pulled the trigger. I purchased the newer AA networks on the right of the pic from a forum member. I came to the conclusion that I would be most satisfied simply getting the networks back into spec versus trying to improve the design or sound of the Klipschorns through modifications. I’m going with original design as my end goal. Now about those new Jubilees coming out in 2021...

  11. the original design did call for the brass screws   , when I got my LaSscala's years ago , 1pair  shipped with brass screws from the Factory-

Yes, I understand. Did you see my reply earlier in the thread? I am replacing with brass per the original design. Thanks again.

  12. Even though brass is not magnetic, it is an electrically conductive copper-zinc alloy. To exclude both, plastic screws are the best solution.

I don’t disagree, but apparently not the original design.

  14. I believe you hands down ,  when you keep on using parts they last --  you stop they  deteriorate -

-the right hand  AA is 3 caps ---a 13uF ,  and two 2 uF , available from PE ,  the inductor on the top left must be checked in case the screw is magnetic ,  if it is , you must replace it with a non magnetic screw -

Tested and confirmed screw is magnetic. Were the screws used during development and testing not magnetic? What is the significance of it being magnetic and why do they need replaced? Thanks

  15. right hand side is the  best , the left hand side is gotta be 50 years old

And believe it or not, the one on left still sounds good in my Klipschorns. I’m going to update one set of these. Leaning towards updating the right hand side set.
