"Get back, we don't have time Because I hear we're sending off the heroes When the yera goes, (they're) out of the bay Trying to find a way to make it alive" "So long," said four men to their families "Be strong until we get back home And if not, take care of all the children Until then just hope and pray We're going to find a way To make it alive" "You guys are crazy!" They shout and then we leave the harbor In doubt, they're acting weird And the sea is whipping up a welcome If hell come we're all easy prey Trying to find a way To make it alive "You guys are crazy!" The captain's hand shook for The guys to get in place He said, "Let's look behind your face" With each corner covered, they were all around Waiting for the midnight bell to sound "Out of sight," cried Aeron through his glasses "Don't fight" said Gorham's smile All the while, his hand was on my shoulder I was scared of being an easy prey Trying to find a way to make it alive I won't be easy prey Gonna find a way to make it alive

  12. Fans pay for guitar legend Allan Holdsworth's funeral — and then some DAN SNIERSON@DANSNIERSON POSTED ON APRIL 21, 2017 AT 8:46PM EDT JORDI VIDAL/REDFERNS Last weekend, the world lost a guitarist’s guitarist, as legendary jazz-fusion musician Allan Holdsworth died at the age of 70. He was an inimitable, innovative, jaw-dropping talent who was revered by such guitar wizards as Eddie Van Halen, Pat Metheny, Tom Morello, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Vernon Reid for his mesmerizing legato licks, altered scalework, boundary-busting harmonic language, and dense, chromatic chord formations. Holdsworth, who was born in England, played with Soft Machine, The New Tony Williams Lifetime, Pierre Moerlen’s Gong, UK, Jean-Luc Ponty and Bill Bruford, while releasing a dozen solo albums. While the tributes to the fallen guitarist poured in on social media, family friend Greg Beaton created a GoFundMe page on Sunday, seeking to raise $20,000 to cover the costs of his funeral for his children, Emily, Louise, and Sam. Not only was that goal met quickly, within three days, but the family opted to end the campaign, which had raised almost $115,000 by that point. “The past few days have felt like a lifetime of a never-ending nightmare,” wrote the family. “It’s hard to put into words the emotions and gratitude that we feel. Without all of the love and support we have received, we would be completely lost. We are doing our best to fulfill the wishes of our beloved father. We will be holding a private ceremony to celebrate the life of our dad, and we cannot thank you enough for allowing us to do that…. I know he’s looking down at us and he can rest easy knowing the huge stress that has been lifted from our shoulders. Thank you for all the kind words, memories, and donations. We have decided, as a family, to close the GoFundMe campaign. It has more than exceeded its purpose. We cannot express our gratitude to you all enough, it has been overwhelming.” The Holdsworth family says that in lieu of additional donations, fans can consider donating to a local pitbull rescue in Holdsworth’s name as “he was most fond of the breed.” A public memorial also is being planned.

  18. In the lush, green hills of northern Thailand, a woman painstakingly picks coffee beans out of a pile of elephant dung, an essential part of making one the world's most expensive beverages. This remote corner of Thailand bordering Myanmar and Laos is better known for drug smuggling than coffee, but Blake Dinkin decided it was perfect for a legitimate enterprise that blends conservation with business. "When I explained my project to the mahouts (elephant riders), I know that they thought I was crazy," the 44-year-old Canadian founder of Black Ivory Coffee, which uses the digestive tract of elephants to create a high-end brew for coffee connoisseurs. Initially, he considered using civet cats to make "kopi luwak" coffee, which uses beans collected from the droppings of the Asian cats. But the quality of the end product has weakened as demand has grown in Southeast Asia — including in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Civet cats are also often kept in cages and force-fed beans, a chasm away from Dinkin's desire to support rather than damage the environment. Lions and giraffes also made the shortlist of prospective coffee filters, but eventually Dinkin settled on elephants after discovering that the creatures sometimes eat coffee during periods of drought in Southeast Asia. He also teamed up with an elephant rescue charity which saves the creatures from the tourist trade. But making coffee from pachyderm poop was harder than expected. "I thought it would be as simple as taking the beans, giving them to the elephant, and out will come great coffee," said Dinkin, adding that the initial result was "horrible" and undrinkable. "It took me another nine years to actually succeed in doing what I wanted," he said. Now that's fresh roasted coffee
