  1. Update, I disconnected the mid and woofer and played the speakers with only the tweeter connected. The sound from both tweeters is barely audible even when turning the volume up fairly loud. I checked the resistance of the tweeters, mids and woofers and all test ok. Forgive my ignorance but is there a way for me to test the crossovers? I have a multi-meter. I'm just not sure how to test them. Since the Sonicaps were added prior to me purchasing the speakers, I'm wondering if the crossovers could have an issue or have been wired incorrectly? Thanks.
  2. Thank to you all for the comments. I'll get to the bottom of it.
  3. Hello. Recently bought some Cornwall 1.5’s serial # 8429991. Opened up the cabs and the tweeters have been replaced with Crites CT125’s. The B-3 crossovers have been recapped with Sonicaps. Mid range and woofer are stock. Problem is, the mids and highs sound “muddy” to me. I’ve tried different listening rooms. Different listening distances. Different toe in etc. I’m running a Marantz 2245 with a full restoration. Tried CD, Lossless streaming, and phono. When I plug in my other speakers, (large advents and a couple others), I get the clarity back on the upper end. Is this normal? Could there be an issue with the crossovers? Or is it just that I don’t appreciate the Cornwall sound?
  4. Well, it’s a Tiki Room. And it’s adjacent to our kitchen. So we have cocktail parties where everyone hangs out in both the kitchen and the Tiki Room. So the music has to carry outside of the Tiki Room when we entertain.
  5. Oh, I thought the heritage speakers were super sensitive. I thought my Marantz would be plenty of power. Now I have to rethink things.
  6. Thanks. I’m considering Forte 1’s now, then save for the 4’s or maybe they’ll have 5’s by the time I can afford it. Did you do the titanium tweeter swap with your 1’s?
  7. Hello. I’m wanting to get my first pair of heritage speakers for my 2 channel set up. Small room, 12x12. But we play music loud when we entertain. Currently solid state. Marantz 2245 with a turntable and streamer but I’m interested in tubes at some point. Right now I can pick up a pair of Quartets for $850 or a pair of Forte 1’s for $1000. Should I grab either of these or wait and save $$ for some Forte 2’s or save even more for Forte 4’s. I’m not against Heresy but I’d rather not run a sub if I can help it. Thanks in advance for your advice.
  8. Hello, I've come across some Heresy empty cabinets. Could I purchase these and still buy all the drivers, crossovers etc to make them complete Heresy 3's? I thought I read somewhere that I'll need Heresy 2 cabinets if I want to make them Heresy 3's. Hope that makes sense. I appreciate any knowledge shared.
  9. Bummer. These were purchased used as a gift. I really like the sound. I guess I could buy a pre-amp. I do have a turntable that has a line output. I guess I can use that in the meantime.
  10. BTW, when I switched from phone to Line on the back of the speaker, the sound goes away.
  11. Hello, I have a pair of R-15PM speakers and the matching Klipsch (project) turntable. The problem is, when I switch to Phono the speakers emit a "wine" or feedback. The louder I turn up the speakers, the worse the wine. This is present wether I have the turntable hooked up or not. So I don't think it has to do with the turntable. Is the pre-amp bad? I called customer service and they mentioned trying different electrical outlets. That didn't work. They also mentioned trying a power conditioner. I don't own one. They are kind of pricey. So I thought I'd ask here before I go buy one.
  12. Could the R14M or R15M bookshelf speakers be used as rear speakers with my setup? The R14M's are pretty inexpensive on Amazon right now.
  13. Forgive my ignorance but which Klipsch rear speakers will have proper timbre matching?
  14. I'm a surround sound newb. Just got a Pioneer Elite vsx-lx301 receiver. I have Klipsch R26F towers in the front. I have a Klipsch R25C center channel. Also, a polk hand-me-down sub. I'm needing some rear speakers. The room is small, space is limited. I'm looking to put some speakers on stands in the rear corners. I came across the Definitive Technology Promonitor 800's. Thought those might work. Thoughts? Or any other similar suggestions in that price point? The Klipsch bookshelf speakers are just a little too big for the space they will occupy. Oh, also, will it be worth it to upgrade the sub to a klipsch sub when money allows it?
  15. Thanks guys, it sounds like I have it set up right for the most part then.
  16. Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. Returning to the world of home audio after a long hiatus. I'm hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge here. Made the mistake of stopping by BestBuy on Black Friday. My Black Friday haul as follows: A pair of Klipsch R26F's A Pioneer Elite VSX LX301 Receiver I already had a hand me down Polk Audio Sub and an Audio Technica Turntable. Just wondering if I have this set up hooked up properly. It's mainly for music. I listen to vinyl on a turntable. I stream music from various sources. I play CD's. It's also hooked up to the TV/Blueray player. Just running it 2.1 style right now. 1. I'm currently running the speakers Biamped. Is this a good idea? The guy at Best Buy Magnolia told me to run it that way. My receiver has the option to biamp the speakers. 2. When I use the auto calibration for set up, It sets the speakers up as "large" and I hear nothing from the subwoofer. When I change the speakers to "small" I can hear the sub. I currently have the crossover set at 80hz. Is this a good setting? Thanks for any thoughts, comments questions as I am just diving back into this hobby. Thanks!
