"Studio Monitor" is a dimensionless attribute, which means "whatever the studio was (is) using at the time."

I believe there were some pretty crappy Yamaha speakers that were in vogue for some time, too.  Then there's what the mix / mastering engineer uses to produce the end result.  Rumor had it back in the day that 6x9 car speakers were used by some, since that was considered the target audience.

So back to what I posted earlier, "what makes a studio monitor a 'studio monitor,' and why?"

NS10M Yamaha was used alot, and from what I have heard didn't sound that great like was said by glens. I heard some were given to Studios by Yamaha just so they could say the Studios were using them.

About a year ago I bought a set of RP160M speakers and really enjoyed listening to them. Last October,  I had the opportunity to buy a set of 1972 Heresy speakers for my listening room, and the RP160Ms migrated to the living room. Both speaker sets have their own sound signature/character, and for that reason I've respectfully refrained to make A-B comparisons.

So today I was listening to AnalogPlanet's playlist of 'Best of 2010s' recordings and I came accross Billy Eilish with Xanny. This song starts right off in the lowest frequencies, with really low bass, and then it gets even weirder with some effects thrown in. I thought the song was killing my Heresy woofers, so I paused the song as quickly as possible. Perhaps my tube amp would do better? Not at all. This song really beat the Heresy speakers in their own game. And with that I mean that the song can't be listened to on them in a comfortable way. So out of curiosity I went downstairs to the RP160Ms. And yes, they could handle this song better. Still not perfect, though.  So is this an 'age' thing, or is it because of the fact that the RP160Ms go as low as 45Hz (compared to 58Hz for the Heresy)?

So the question remains how this song is supposed to sound...

I hope im wrong but when you are singing about xanny's at 18 years old im pretty sure there is some depression involved. The pressure thats going to be put on this young woman will most likely put her in the same boat as  Amy Winehouse.

I would say we are about the same age. You look like a guy I would have ran with. Its funny I look at pics when I was that age, and how I look now and its hard to believe its the same person. Some don't change much at all. People I haven't seen in along time don't know me until I tell them who I am. The shaved head does not help either.

  4. I was in the local Kmart when I was 21 or so, looking to buy some doe in heat and fox urine for deer hunting. Tinks is a brand and they sold both in a box together for a lower price. I was reading the box, and the end came unfastened. You know what happened next. Both bottles broke! I saw a woman I knew a few isles away that worked there, and told her what happened. Her not really knowing what the product was told me she would clean it up. I walked to the back of the store to get another item, and then walked pass the isle where the bottles broke on the way to the front of the store. It was so funny the ladies working there holding their noses and pouring every thing they could on it to kill the smell. Janitor in a drum is one I remember seeing. By the time I was checking out the whole store stunk of doe and fox piss!. I was laughing so hard that I was crying by the time, I made it to my car . The woman named Mrs Bayrd saw me at the store I worked for at the time, about a week later, and told me that it was a lot bigger deal than she would have imagined it would be when I told her about it, but thought it was funny after the fact.

  5. I have gotten away from half and half for health reasons. Ive been using nut pods and it taste great. I also add a teaspoon and a half of powdered coconut milk and it tastes so fine also. Powdered coconut milk has saturated fat but for some reason its a good fat for your body. Just don't over use. Try it you will love it!

The nearest park to us was Cherry Hill 120 miles away AND nobody was old enough to drive much less gave a car. In high school I did skate for Cocacola for 18-months. But it got to be more of a job than a hobby.

I was more into BMX but had some friends who were pretty good skateboarders. Thats a nice collection, and it was smart to keep them! The best board I had was a Cal 40 that looks like the red one on the end. I had a friend pull me on a moped one time, and when I let go and crashed really bad I was done with them lol.

Have an old Telefunken console. Ripped out the tube amp ... put in RF-3 woofers/horns, but have not really finished it yet. Think it looks "cool." :D (But, "gave it away" ... waiting for buyer to pick it up :( )

I had that very same receiver. It was my first decent one. That and a pair of 301 Bose, and a cheap JVC cassette player, with a really bad BSR turntable. I think it was 35 watts per channel. I was about 16 at the time and it sounded so good because I was stoned most of the time I had it. I would always come home alot of nights listening to music. Good times!

A couple of years ago I had the same thing happen. The strange part was it happened every night for months, I would wake up sometimes get something to drink and go to the bathroom then look at the clock. The order in which I did these things did not matter, when I checked the time it was always 3:33. It did also happen during the day I  would happen to look at the clock and it was 3:33.  It took me over a week to notice and remember during the day. I had no idea why and then it just ended.

838 is our local phone prefix and I was seeing it like your 3:33.  Times, mileage etc. Im not sure if I just noticed it more because of the prefix or what. Peace!

  9. Heres my  story and its more funny than crazy. At the time this happened we had two small toy fox terriers. We still have one. I was sleeping, and I usually wear earplugs so I don't hear anything. The wife and the dogs and I were sleeping, and I heard the wife starting to snore a little because one of my earplugs came out. I started feeling around under the covers and found the earplug, and rolled it between my fingers, and in my ear it went. Thats when I figured out it was not a earplug, but a small terrier turd! I started yelling and awoke the wife. She changed the sheets and I spent  5 minutes or so cleaning dogs shit out of my ear.  The dogs never go in the house or bed but I guess one of them messed up and could not hold it. I guess shit happens!😎
