Oh, I agree that it is a better mid- just wondering how my 1984 models have a 1986 model mid in them.
I guess I am hoping they re some kind of rare or unusual version - maybe an employee made set that made its way north.
-
So, I acquired a pair of Cornwall Is today, serials 8451327 and 1328 (1984, 5th week). After scouring the Interwebs, it appears these should have aluminum mids, but these are composite. Look factory stock. No extra screw holes, no evidence of them being replaced.
Thoughts on that?

I have owned a few pair of 901s (Series I and II).
While they could sound quite good, they never were my cup of tea. Surely they can not hold a candle to La Scalas, Cornwalls, etc...
-
Yeah, I have been watching those. I'll take a look when I have time, but will not pay close to $1K for them.

Bump... Bump...

True.

Pricey for private sale. If I can not touch it, it has to come from someone with a reputation.

He lists one in N/Mint shape - but it is pricey at $1650 before shipping. Just seems too high. I dunno, maybe I'll call over anyways...

eBay has nothing - either local pickup too far away or broken units :-(

Good idea Mike, thanks.

Yeah, neither have anything that meets my qualifications - AC has no B1, and eBays are all fixer uppers (well, were last week). Thanks for the other links!

Buuuuuuump.

I am in NH, looking for another pair of La Scalas. As long as the work and are not too tough on the eyes I am interested.
-
Hey all,
I need another 4100 - must be plug and play. No budget, I'll pay what it takes for the one I want. Shipping OK. Thanks.

Sooooo... I emailed for more info. Carpet is glued on, and on all sides - no labels left. They appear to be black under the carpeting. I am thinking of making the trip to check them out - I'd offer $500 - looks like a whole lotta work to get them looking good, never mind new caps, drivers and whatever else they may need.
-
Well, I'm gonna need way more picts that that. Entire back and back of each driver would help.
If it is a single - probably not much. Looks like a home brew cabinet. Parts may have some value.
More info please.
-
OK, clever, buy.... why?
-
Looks like a demo set they want to get rid of.
-
Actually, I'd leave the holes - I like my speakers to tell their own story.

Stacking La Scalas is voodoo...

Yeah, if it came off easily, I'd give him $750 for them - if all the drivers were good.

If it was a bit closer, I'd check them out to see if the carpet can be easily removed.

Do it do it do it. Don't sell the la scalas, just buy the khorns, experience them for yourself, then maybe, MAYBE, sell something
That's the spirit!
I think I'll try them.

1984 Cornwall with Plastic Mids?
in General Klipsch Info

Thanks all!
I was thinking this AM that the Heresy must have moved to the composite unit, so they used them in the Cornwall too.
Mine has the round magnets on the K-33-Es.
Oh, and they do have the B-3 crossover, of course.
