  1. I love my RF IIIs and RC III. I'm looking for an HDTV and been reading great things about the Samsumng DLPs on AVSForum. But the new models are too thin on top for my RCIII, and I have too much stuff to go on a couple of shelves below along with the speaker. What to do???
  2. _____________ Maybe something that has a preset volume at power on.... ___________________ i guess your smiley means there's no such thing. sure would get one if there were... well the good news is, the RF-3s are working fine on a backup receiver, and the 2 year warranty of the sony DB-840 means i made it with 2 months to spare. now if only tweeter would beat the 4-5 weeks repair time they quoted me so i can get dolby digital again! thanks again everyone! AlanN
  3. you guys totally rock! passed the battery test! hmmm, maybe i really need a 6.1 channel receiver anyway!... thanks. Alan
  4. oh oh. then again, the headphones aren't working either....
  5. only the subwoofer works, not any of the other speakers. but the receiver is still outputting sound into the tv. so how could it be the receiver?
  6. Thanks. But the subwoofer still works (tho not surrounds or B system) and routing the VCR outs from the receiver to the TV, i do get sound from the TV (tho one of the connections seems to make a loud humm. ) i did start to turn the sound down on the receiver but didn't get far before it went silent...
  7. Help! My 4 year old turned up the volume all the way on my Sony DB-840. When I got home and turned on the system, I got a deafening blast and cursed silence. Are my Klipsch RF-3s dead and gone? What do I do next? Thanks.
  8. Hi MikeW, I'm a newbie with the same receiver and RF IIIs (older center and surrounds i'll probably upgrade soon) and have been wondering the same thing, so looking forward to any answers, including how you've set your system. On the home theater forum there's a lot of discussion about setting the speaker sizes to small and the sub crossover on the receiver to as low as possible, >60hz on the DB840. 9. figured there was probably no simple answer, but what is "a little notch filter equalizing for the bass"?
  10. Thanks Boa. That is how I have it set up now. With the crossover on the sub all the way up and the receiver set to >60 (Sony DB 840 lowest setting). The bass is definitely cleaner than when I had the speakers set to large. But seems to lose some richness in the vocals and low mid-range. I'll probably get used to it - and maybe I should try to get a better sub than old Klipsch low end 10". Slightly different question, but are there "ideal" khz and db settings for the RF III bass, mid and treble controls to get a flat sound? Thanks.
  11. How about for RF-IIIs? Set sub crossover as low as possible (<60hz) or something else? Thanks.
