we [wife] got a cat ... an injured cat... Thank the neighbor, she finds 'em and sends them to us ... I do not know why This is 5 or 6 she has "given" to us. 3 that someone left at the dump to kittens that were abandoned [bottle feeders] and now this broken one....
it didn't belong to us. Note the past tense.
has a buggered back leg. She eats and drinks and goes potty.
Very kind of you to give the cat a second chance at life.- 3

That cartridge can be upgraded with either a 2M Red stylus (~$90) or a 2M Blue (~200). I've listened to both and I can tell you that the Blue is a significant upgrade in overall detail.
Good luck with your sale.
I just upgraded my 2m red to a blue and I agree, it is clear step up.- 1

Nice Derrick...............I can tell you that the phono stage in my Marantz sr6011 sounds much more FULL / deeper low end response then EITHER of my stand alone Cambridge Audio phono stages!!! THAT, I would never have believed ! Marantz really did some good homework on that AVR is all I can say............
I looked up that AVR, beauty. Looks like it does just about everything but warm up leftovers [emoji14]- 1

Added a Pro-Ject Phono Box S to my TT today. Was just using the built in phono stage in my Marantz PM 6006. I can hear a difference. Tighter bass and smoother sound overall. Flimsy dip switches on the bottom to match the cartridge are a bad design. Broke two setting it up. Otherwise I like the product. Not high end but makes a noticeable difference.

Upgraded my stylus from Ortofon 2m red to blue. I like what I hear so far. The $200 May have something to do with that. Red only had about 3 hours on it. OMG....did I get upgradeittis?

I have the PM6006 and I lost the left channel a few months ago. Mine is still under warranty so I sent it for repair. I got it back in a week or so and it works perfectly. Unfortunately they didn’t tell my dealer exactly what was wrong. I would send it to Marantz for repair.

I had one for a brief time. They’re great for the price!
Yeah, I wasn’t looking to spend a fortune on a new TT. Extra cash will go to a speaker upgrade (Forte III) where it makes more of a difference.

Got a new Project Debut Carbon turntable today. It’s an entry level TT but still a big step up from what I had before. Sounds great to me. Had to do some vibration dampening work to my rack but all is good now. Impressed so far.

I have used Sorbothane half spheres and I think they work well. A bit expensive though.

Thanks for the advice guys. Much appreciated. The rubber feet that I removed were more like rubber spikes as far as the height is concerned. The overall height of the speakers is about the same. Maybe a half an inch difference at most.
I may have to go back to the drawing board with speaker placement due to the changes in the sound. -
Ok, I hope that I am just imagining this but I added a set of Dayton Audio speaker spikes to a pair of Dalquest QX9’s that had rubber ill fitting feet. The bass tightened up a lot and the vibration that was coming through the floor was mostly eliminated. What I didn’t expect was to lose the mid-range. The vocals are now what I would describe as “in the back seat” instead of forward. They have lost the depth of sound and all vocals have lost the weight/depth/colour. Anyone experience the same and most importantly, any ideas on how to fix it. No other changes were made to the system. Speakers are in the same location with the same toe-in.
Any guidance is appreciated

Never going back to the popularity of yesteryears but not dead yet!

Turns out that it was the amp. Good news is that Marantz has a 3 year warranty. Fixed at no charge and got it back within 2 weeks. Pretty good service.

The only recent change was shortening the speaker wires, adding banana plugs and one new set of RCAs. Could be the new RCAs.
-
Thanks for the advice guys. I am going to try all inputs to see if is consistent or isolated to one source. I have a 3.5 mil line-in that should cut out the digital chain. I’ll start there.
-
The amp is a 1yr old Marantz integrated PM6006.
I don't have a multi meter and wouldn't know what to do with it if I had one. I think that the problem is somewhere else in the system.
The last change that I made was adding the banana clips. I might redo them.
Thanks for the thoughts
-
No, I haven't tried headphones. I have only used the digital source. I will try a record and the radio tonight to see if it is isolated to the digital chain or if it is a general problem.
My digital chain is;
Music is played from an iMac in another room.
The out on the computer is USB which goes to an Audioengine D2 sending unit.
The sending unit transmits wireless to a receiving unit in the room with my stereo.
The receiving unit has a DAC which then sends the analog signal via RCA to the integrated amp.
Naturally it is then sent to the speakers via 12 gauge speaker cable with banana clips.
