  1. Im so disappointed. I ordered new capacitors for my AA crossovers and also new diaphragms for my k55v dual phase plug mids. I changed the diaphragms and everything sounded fantastic. then I tackled 1 of the crossovers and did everything I was supposed to , just like on crites web page and when I hooked everything back up , I lost my mids and my tweeter. I'm soooooooo stressed. I don't know what could have gone wrong. please advise if anyone had similar problem  or knows how what I should be looking for? thanks

I tried to upload some pics, but it says I can only upload 2mb and it won't let me do it.

  2. I actually asked the seller to cancel the transaction. I have la Scalias with k55v with spring connectors . I'm going to put in k55v  with the soldered connection and I also purchased a AA crossover rebuild kit from bob crites. Now the reason for my initial question was because the lasacala had 1 round k77 in it and the other cabinet had a square k77. So I wanted a matched set of round k77. What is better 16 ohm version of k77 or 8 ohm version ?

one set has metal badge on the back and the other set of k77 doesn't. what is the major difference . thanks

They are pretty well marked as Klipsch K-77.  I'm not sure what you mean by "badge."

I can tell you the wires look exactly like OEM Klipsch wiring.

It does make a difference if they are 8 or 16 Ohm.  I believe the K-77 is 8 Ohm, the K-55-V mid driver is 16 Ohm.

so does that mean that I can't use them with the k55v ?

  4. ok so just to make sure that I understand. ( I don't want to make any mistakes ). all I have to do is just take out the old metal cans and replace in the exact same place the new caps? would anyone have a picture of the AA crossover with those caps in place so I can see exactly where each wire would go or maybe a diagram? I just don't want to ruin anything. thanks

Me personally, start out with just replacing the caps with something like the Dayton 5% caps from Parts Express (very reasonable), Solen Caps (similar price), and quite a few others that aren't much more.  I'm building a set of Belle's and using old Type AA crossovers and swapping out the caps.  Start easy....listen and enjoy.....make decision to spend more lmoney or not later down the line.

If you can remove those metal cans in the crossover and solder a smaller replacement cap where the old ones were, then you're golden.  You might post where you are as a forum member might be close enough to help you out.  I know I'd be glad to help.

    Just my $.02

Thanks so much. if its that simple as to just un solder and put in place new caps where those old metal cans are, then I can do that. I was just concerned about what direction those caps need to go in . but if its all the same and just a matter of taking out the old cans and putting in place new caps in the exact same spot then I will do that. You guys are the best. by the way . I'm in Toronto , Ontario in Canada. :)

Take that $300+ and rebuild your AAs.

    (x2) 3654 Autoformers from Bob = $65

    (x2) 2.5mH low pass coils = $45

    https://www.parts-express.com/erse-super-q-25mh-16-awg-500w-inductor-crossover-coil--266-908

    Reuse the tweeter coils

Reuse the zener diodes, or remove them.

Capacitors: buy AudioCap PPT Theta film and tin foils for the tweeter circuit. Why settle for metalized caps when you can buy the real deal.

    http://www.soniccraft.com/product_info.php/audiocap-theta-2uf-200vdc-p-69

    (x4) $70

The primary cap (12 - 13uF). Parallel two 6uF Thetas to get 12uF (each network).

    http://www.soniccraft.com/product_info.php/audiocap-theta-6uf-200vdc-p-73

    (x4) $160

    Total = $340.00

    Total no brainer.

So if I just purchased a totally new AA crossover from Crites, will that new crossover include all of what you just mentioned to buy and replace? because I'm not very good at reading schematics. if it would cost about the same, wouldn't it be better to just order new ones from crites, or will the parts be less quality than from the ones that you mentioned ? thanks

  7. I don't have the money for bells and whistles. I will be content with just clean sound. I don't want to play with adjustments or anything like that.

Oh I also have 1 more question. what glue or silicone should I use to seal the bottom cover of the la scales? I spend them up and the old stuff just crumpled to pieces because its all dried up

  8. Hi everyone. I am a klipsch enthusiast and love the heritage line of speakers. I have a set of la scales and heresy speakers in my collection. I recently acquired a couple of sets of k55v soldered connection mid range speakers, but the diaphragms are gone. is a aftermarket diaphragm going to work just the same or would anyone have an original set for sale? please advise. thanks
