  1. my BIL took me on some of those "treasure hunts" in IN ... I bet your dad loved you using his pipe.
  2. good point we were outcasts, for sure. Most of us were not from around here. One of "us" was the son of a poobah with bikers. they showed up one afternoon nickle/dime? heard of. ours were all dimes and measured by finger/s depth.
  3. I used to carry 200+ave. Last time I bowled was comical. If I didn't get a strike, I was in trouble... and I was in trouble a lot. It's a stupid game, but fun.
  4. I know my place in that world. I am a donor. Now, if ya wanna bowl a few games for money, that is different. just because it is Fall, doesn't mean it has to feel like it... but, it does. Humidity is gone. 50`AM and 90` high. Thoughts of chainsaw . Just trying to enjoy the comfortable weather.
  5. I always tell the wife, "You are in charge of fauna. I will take care of flora"
  6. sounds that way, doesn't it? believe me, I did not want these bottle babies. Was not seeking more animals. Did not want to do feeding every 4 hours. I'm a plant type person.
  7. we were saving our lunch money to buy a lid. $10 back then. HS was interesting. Not fun... interesting. If I got started on stories, how long ya got? we had a "smoking area" too. Not condoned. We sat at a table with plenty of "no man's land" between us and them. In plain sight of the office. Offered protection from the jocks. Did I mention HS was not fun?
  8. before we got married, I told my wife I didn't think I was a good role model for her two boys....
  9. We have 8 ... no 10 cats, now. Most are rescue/feral/strays. We have some "regular" ferals that come by. Spend a day or two and move one, until the next time. The last 2 we got were bottle babies. They're rippin' and tearin' the house up now. Their eyes were just open when we ended up with them. Half of our cats are getting old/er One is 18, a 12yr old and a couple of 11's. we did have some "pet" skunks. They lived here. Ate with the cats. Played with them, too. They would [try to] come in the house. The cats would come in... and the skunk would jump in line. Worked twice.... I relocated them when we had an uptick in rabies locally.
  10. getting rid of heavy metals is good.
  11. I'm not so sure how good R/O is for you. Seems I heard it leaches minerals from your system. I could be wrong.
  12. sure glad I don't worry about water ... except have or not our water has some minerals. Nothing like sulfur. I don't conserve too much. Been told to "save" water for 50 years. Ya know who isn't saving our water? The govt. They keep allowing more houses and giving them the water I "saved". We are way beyond overdraft... A long time ago. The indigenous population showed how many can survive w/o supplementing water. rant over I see CocaCola has introduced a new energy drink. Kinda come full circle. Struck me as a little ironic. Didn't Coke start out as an elixir to help with "the blues"?
  13. my dad had surgery [Stapes?] on both ears. Wore two hearing aids ... and still played as long as his health allowed.
  14. push it, Steve Do as much as you can. The exercise is more important than the quality of the results. As long as you enjoy it. eff anybody else's opinion. It's art!!! Exactly the way I wrote/composed it. We ain't gittin any younger. I went to hellinahandbasket when I was laid up so long that I couldn't load my boat on the car. The rowing was very good for my back. I'm afraid atrophy has pretty well shot many stupid ideas of doing it now. Looking for a truck. 4 or 6 banger is fine. I'm only planning on using it on weekend -- to pull stumps. Nah nah... for woodcutting and trips to the lake. Only has to run good for 10 miles at a time. lol pineapple upside down cake..... yummmmmm now I want one. Have you ever had a Mandarin Orange Cake? Don't be fooled by the mention of citrus. Not a hint other than the name. You do use them in it. W/o zest, they are just sweet and juicy... no twang. Like caramel cake of some sort
  15. random association one trip across I-10 .... crossing the bayou... a massive flock of ducks/geese/waterfowl lifted and was swirling around. Was about to park, get out and take pics. Changed my mind when it started raining bird "droppings".
  16. I can believe that. I picked up a guy walking down I-10. He was carrying a gas can. Could not understand one word he spoke. Kinda sounded like French with a NY accent.
  17. I like central American beans. Not sure where these Mex came from. Easy enough to find out. Talk to the roaster. Doesn't have the Combate type flavor. This is almost peaberry. It was in the 50's. I have the doors and windows open to warm the place. Room temp coffee is cold. Heineken cold
  18. back to Mexican beans. and cleaning the house.
  19. that counts... you were the one that grabbed the can when that [in]famous line "Hold my beer" came up?
  20. stoner/nerds. when you think about it... that is not so incongruous. we didn't indulge in drinking games like "Roll in the fire" and "Smash a beer can on my forehead".
  21. I accidentally color coordinated with the bride and groom. the sarong is the one in the pic I posted awhile back. Blue, burgundy and gray stripe. White shirt. Their outfits were basically blue and white. had a nice time. Sat next to the pastor at the reception dinner. Nice guy. Saw folks I haven't seen for 10 years. Thus is the life of a recluse. And I got to drive 50 miles. Last time I went that far, I dinna stop for 2000 miles.
  22. Thinking about the wedding, petting my cat ... pulling matted fur from his "armpits" ...was reminded of a joke about telling the bride by the fact that the hair in her pits was braided. back is torched. It's the sarong, like it or don't. Paired it with a guayabera shirt. That's as good as it gets, today.
  23. Stand By Your Man was funny, too. The whole movie is classic. speaking of classics I watched Up in Smoke yesterday. Ya see those logs TommyChong is using for drumsticks? .
  24. I maintain that anyone with an idea, no matter how stupid, will find an audience on the internet. ... and lemmings trying to "one up" the idiot Mob mentality. Sinks to less than the lowest common denominator
