  1. I've had a few cups and ... yak yak yak When I was cleaning mom's house out, I found some old curlers and a bonnet hair dryer. I asked my sisters if they wanted they. I remember those item as being instruments of torture for them as children. Funny ... none of them wanted ??? was listening to The End by The Doors that song goes on forever. There is no end to The End. Maybe I was just impatient, but I felt like, "Come on guys, wind it up" maybe I should spend some time outdoors. Heritage flights over Tucson. They stage out here. Get to see all kinds of vintage and new aircraft. found out that LittleFeat played in Tucson a couple weeks ago. At a nice venue, too. Intimate. Oh well... maybe next time. They are always on tour.
  2. HI BSM we covered coffee since I have been here. I'm a hot, strong and black type. If you see me going for cream and sugar, the coffee is bad. Or Starbux. The podunk town i live has a roaster that I patronize. I see flavored coffee the same as perfume... might smell good, don't drink it. Happy now
  3. wife brought a bag of Guatemalan beans home from the store. Weather ic coming real nice next week. 75 tomorrow and 80 thru the week.. Back to our bad weather -- too much sun and warm. Might get a half decent spring bloom
  4. when you hear someone down here talking disco - that would be it. Nothing goes to waste
  5. looks like a dedicated saute pan I have Griswold and Lodge. At their age, they the same. Babando, Got the wok at an Asian grocery in Tucson. They went out of business a few years ago. No brand name fwiw we have more cast iron than we know what to do with. The old lady that built this place liked cast iron, too. There were pieces hanging in the trees along with bottleneck leis. So, I'm not the first wacko to live in this house.
  6. My handwriting is barely legible. Left handed. Calligraphy is a real pita. Using a pen left to right smears the ink when you are left handed I thing da Vinci was left handed. That is why his writings were mirror image
  7. I've seen my grandmother make pizza on top of the stove in a cast iron pan. She used the oven most of the time. Yes, Italian.. sorta, Sicilian
  8. ... and I dinna feel a thing, until the lime juice got in. I fillet bluegill with the same knife. It's a slicer. And pretty good at its job
  9. yes .. the carbon steel will rust. Taking me some time to get the wife to address that when she does the dishes. She leave the "black knives" alone as she like to pare things in her hand. I was juicing some limes and the knife glanced off one when I was halving them ... as a friends said "Good thing there was a bone to stop it"...
  10. those little 'uns are really nice. I use my 6in all the time.
  11. My wife tends to do the same. Her 1st husband was Asian and she cooked on a wok. Our cast iron wok was relatively inexpensive ... ~$25. I was surprised
  12. I feel the same about most of the apples we see now. gimme a Winesap or Mac. Not that I won't take a Pippin or Jonathon, if presented. "Delicious" apples. I can't use words to describe my opinion of them here ...
  13. Oh, pollen... we have dust like that. Gardeners, I know it's early for many. Some of us are well into planning and soil prep. to the point Favorite tomato I tend toward heirloom varieties. Brandywine and PurpleCalabash are my favorites. The Calabash is prolly the ugliest tom I have ever seen. Purple outside. Green inside, and a flavor that is not for folks that do not like tomato. Very Robust.
  14. good on ya. A well seasoned cast iron pan is a thing of beauty. I use cast iron iron for most stuff. And have a stack of copper clad Revereware. I am somewhat of a throwback, though. I use carbon steel knives, too. The ones that turn black. None of that ceramic for me. Too delicate. One of my kitchen knives skinned and butchered a deer. I did have to grind a new edge, but, let's see ya do that with a ceramic knife. Can't say I have tried induction heating. It intrigues me. Most of my stuff is heirloom [a few generations] and was around when gas lights were still being used. We even have a cast iron wok.
  15. you're making it too easy How bad do you want one? HaHaHa
  16. having flashbacks of pau hana drinks at the bowling alley on Kauai. Good thing it was a two block walk/crawl home. There isn't a law against public intoxication. As long as you didn't get behind the wheel or cause a ruckus, life was good
  17. Nice cables hope the logo on the coffee cup doesn't affect the contents jk jk I've had a few cups of Peruvian.. Pretty wound up
  18. even though she dinna like ... you got her a nice ball. I had been buying orchids [plants]for my wife's birthday. 5 or 6 years in, she tells me she doesn't like orchids. So, I have orchids. ... they bloom every year. and she sez ,"Meh" I am a gardener, too. Used to know scientific names tbh... I know a lot more about ag than electronics. I did work for Textron/BellAerospace for a bit. We were test digital communication tolerances. I was the dummy on the end "I heard that" [big shocker HaHaHa] during that time, I discovered that it takes less than 4 seconds to have a daydream. head count for storm "victims" Everyone OK?
  19. there is ONE snowplow in the whole county ... and it a big one 9000sq miles. And it on top of the mountain it is pretty comical to watch folks try to drive in it down here.
  20. Pepsi Syndrome. I lost bits and pieces of my old laptop keyboard. Went to onscreen. for a hunt-n-pecker works... kinda oh... before I derail myself I can see snow from the house ... in the SantaRitas and on KittPeak. That as close as I need. I spose I could visit it ... but why? there is are ski trails and a lift 45min drive from Tucson on MountLemmon ... again.. why? was talking to a friend about our internet. I was figuring someone 25miles from here, with a backhoe Oops'd a cable. Nah... rodent chewed it.
  21. oh hey getting some "special" attention from the wife tonite brushed a prickly pear in the yard. I can get the big spines by Braille. Those little fibreglass size ones ... all in all, wish I dinna need the help. Thank you
  22. Hawaii It can get a little warmer when the trades shutdown or you get "Kona" winds. being from up north I can appreciate a white winter. It's not the snow ... it's cold I know that 25` and snow is much more comfortable than 35` and rain. That is horrible I've been down here too long. I can already hear the comments "no kidding ... he has definitely taken too much sun"
  23. I used to go north shore Kauai fairly often. It would rain, like that, just long enough to drive all the tourist off the beach. was there long enough to be able to tell winter from summer w/o a calendar
  24. mid afternoon. Just when it starts to feel warm/ish I get a lot of funny looks when I recommend coming in August. It beautiful.
  25. June is dry . Our "monsoon" runs early July thru Sept. It gets 95`. Rains. Spends the rest of the day trying to recover from it dropping to 65` during the rain. It's very nice, except for June. too much sun and warm.
