  1. I’ve just recently turned my eye towards the Parasound Hint P6 or something like that. Seems to check all the boxes for me.

What do you all think? It’s an American company but sadly not made in the states.

The joy is in the chase - isn't it?

Absolutely! 😩 I almost don't even want to find what I'm looking for, cause then what would I have to look forward to? Sitting back and enjoying music? Pffff, stupid music, all it's good for is for listening to my gear

I just read recently that Schiit is coming out with another higher powered amp....maybe it's already out? Gotta look into it.

Yep, which is kinda what has me being hesitant. Thought I had my mind made up on Freya+ and 2 Aegirs. But I don’t wanna buy Aegirs if they’re about to drop something newer and better. Then I started looking at and considering integrateds, just for the simplification.

I don't know how new it is but the Ragnarok 2 is an integrated amp Schiit sells for $1499. Price goes up as you add modular DAC and/or phono stage.

I’ve definitely given the Rag 2 a few looks! I kinda just want something….fancier though I guess haha. I know…it’s sad.

I like em. For the money paid I think they're definitely well worth it.

For low-level listening I like the full midrange of the Aegir. It's comparable to my tube amps.

For a medium volumes I like the Vidar.

For when I wanna rip my face off I recently found that the Saga preamp with the tube buffer engaged with a Mullard 6SN7 mates REALLY WELL with a Crown K2. It cranks but maintains a smooth sound with a hint of tube action.emoji106.png

Good to hear brother. I still don't know what the hell I want to get for my CWIVs....basically back to square one. I've been shopping integrateds lately. I still want American though so it's been tough. Looked at MAC5200 or whatever it's called, but the Rotel 1592MKII has my eye now, even though not American, still check all my boxes.

Since you have money to burn, go with Mcintosh MC30 monos, or an MC240 with an MX110Z preamp.  You will be happy.

Haha ok not quite that kind of money. I'm thinking more along the line of $3k-3500 all in.

But I'd be lying if I said I haven't been looking at the Mc page here lately lol. I do want American made (assembled) electronics. Which is why I've been looking at Schiit so closely. I thought I had my mind made up until it came to my attention that they have a new and more powerful class A monoblock amp on the way (Tyr). So now I'm kinda waiting on that to be officially revealed.

    I do want a Freya+ pre though.

  6. I'm very skeptical of amps and DACs and the differences audiophiles say they hear in them... I'm powering a pair of Cornwall IVs with a $700 Best Buy Onkyo A/V receiver. It sounds fantastic.

But all that said, I've got money to burn and I too will be joining the expectation bias club here soon with all new electronics. Still am on the fence about an integrated or monoblocks or what. Part of me wants to pick up a $2k-ish integrated and call it a day. But then I'll always have that "what if" feeling if I don't get something class A...

Hey we love the pictures, keep them coming!

A lot of people put their Heresy's on speaker stands and seem to prefer it!

I could likely EASILY live with a 5 watt or less 300b... BUT, I have my preferences and I don't like soft and romantic.   I love crisp, modern, dynamic, slamming tight bass and as good of a spatial and palpable midrange as one can get.  That's how I ended up with my choice.  But believe me, anyone local in socal is willing to come listen, as the system is turned up, CRYSTAL clear to PAST concert levels (I'm less than 15 feet away from the speakers and the subs are QUITE serious for this room).  It gets extremely silly quick and if you hang around past,  I will smile and leave because I can't take it.

What DB range is your preferred listening experience? I'm usually hanging out around 95db peaks but I have measured up to 105db peaks in my room before, when I was drinking lol.

Tweeters don't start in until 7khz not sure how that would help tame a 1-2khz bump? Those tweeters typically have a pretty low output compared to the mid if there's any perceived harshness its more than likely from the mid.

As stated by others try placement both speakers and seating area if possible change the room around if you can or have to possibly look at some treatments? Do you have hardwood floors? Maybe throw a thick rug between the speakers and listening position?

Yes this is true, I had to play around with positioning, distance and toe-in quite a bit to keep my CWIVs from shouting at me in the mids. But boy did I find the sweet spot now! I've gone through quite a few placements to get these things sounding good on a lot of modern rock music. Classic rock sounds good on these almost no matter where they are haha. Also classical and anything acoustic. Keep in mind I'm still using a mid-grade A/V receiver to power them, though I did bypass the internal DAC on the receiver. Which provided quite the gain in SQ.

I'm strongly considering a Schiit stack of Freya+ pre and two Aegirs in dual mono. But I'm kinda leery now since some describe Schiit as cold and clinical. I want warm and lush electronics for these CWIVs....Already using a Schiit Modius DAC.

you could switch to  Poly Diaphragms for the HF , they are much tamer --

Are you referring to replacing the tweeter completely? Is that a thing? I just got CWIVs in June...do people replace any of those drivers? Jesus how much is an upgraded driver on a $6K+ pair of loudspeakers lol. Or 3k+ in the case of the Heresys

I experimented with covering my TV with absorption and removing the TV completely a few years ago. Locked in the sweet spot where I can hear every little difference regarding rolling tubes, rolling gear, speaker placement etc. etc. and I was unable to detect any difference in sound.d44332672020e4a108e8b127f6ddcc68.jpg

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts about a pair of the Aegir amps running those speakers.  (are they CW IV?)  I have thought about a pair of those, or the Vidar's, but leaned more towards the Vidar as I don't want room heaters.  haha  The CF-3's would probably enjoy the 400 watts each more when I'm inclined to jam a little.

I'm curious about it myself haha. My Onkyo A/V reciever TXNR757 already drives them to volumes I'll never reach and they sound a amazing. Yeah they're CWIVs. I did bypass the internal DAC of the Onkyo with a Schiit Modius though. I may end up with a Bifrost2 before it's over with.

Yeah. Unfortunately that unit will not work for HT bypass. Even if you tried to use the Zone 2 out, it would probably not have the DD and Atmos info on those lines. New AVR will be necessary.

Ah ok that makes more sense to me. Thanks man.

Separate the home theater and two channel. You’ll have better performance for both, but especially for music listening, which everyone knows is most important…🤔

    Thank you sir! One day!

If your AVR does not have pre outs, this is NOT possible. Everything (Atmos, DD etc) is processing inside of the AVR and then send (via pre out) to the external amp (through a preamps HT bypass- which just lets the signal pass right through as if it was not even there)

What model AVR do you have?

I have an Onkyo TXNR757. So all this depends on being able to utilize pre-outs in my AVR for the left and right mains?

I mean I do intend to upgrade my AVR in the near future but not before I get all the Schiit gear. Until then I guess I’ll have to reach behind my speakers and plug in wires from the AVR when I want to watch a movie.

The only thing it’s passing though is the pre signal for L & R signals. Just as if the AVR was driving them directly.
meaning, when HT bypass is active, the whole Atmos/DD etc sound goes through the Pre and the Marantz controls the amp directly.
MSI it’s as if you don’t even have a 2ch system in the middle.
    make sense?

Kinda lol I’m still confused as to how this would be wired up though…would it even be possible with my current A/V receiver which does not have pre-outs?

I’m looking at a Freya+ for a preamp to feed two Aegirs in dual mono. The Freya+ does have HT bypass according to their literature.

But that aside, I was under the impression that in order for an A/V receiver to process all the Atmos stuff it had to be fed a digital signal.

    Interesting...thank you sir!

What does it mean by "no not ground one of them"....how would you even do that? I mean if you only use the top two red outputs how would you ground one of them?

  17. I have a question regarding running these Schiit amps in monoblock mode. Do you utilize both sets of binding posts on the amps when running them in mono? Or do you just run one wire pair to your speakers and use the jumpers on your speaker terminals?

I went through NAD separates,  Linn monoblocks, PSAudio Stellar pre/mono’s and settled on the Parasound

by far the best sounding and has so much headroom.
but the P6 is a jewel for someone who wants dual purpose. It has everything you need to dial in both setups.
Also their gear is super quiet.

One thing I notice it doesn't have is an HDMI input/output. Can the P6 still passthrough Atmos, DTSX and all that jazz without HDMI passthrough?
