  1. At the same time I've been deciding on a sub, I've also been working on the WAF. I've shown her a few of the postings from this forum and have convinced her to at least contemplate the idea of a larger sub (i.e. SVS). Assuming I'm successful at the convincing, combined with your helpful feedback and other postings, I think the RSW-15 is now out (thank you!) and now it's going to be a fight between the Sunfire and SVS. I've looked at the SVS website and am trying to figure out how much better (if at all) one CS Ultra would be compared to two of the 16-46 CS+. Any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also, since I'm starting from scratch, does it make sense to get the package from SVS if I go that way, or should I just get the sub(s) and get an external amp? Thanks again for all of the input. I know most, if not all, of this is predicated on bumping up the WAF!!!
  2. Does anybody have any recommendations, outside of ebay, on where to pick up a new Sunfire Signature subwoofer? I'm still in a toss-up between this sub and the RSW-15. I may purchase both and then sell one of them... Thanks.
  3. TheEAR, I'm a long time listener, first time caller, to your expertise. A few questions for you: 1) Although we don't know the size of Matt0013's basement yet, will a single version of any sub do that room justice if it is HUGE? The reason I ask is that I see SVS offering subwoofer packages that include two subwoofers. Why the possible need for two? Also, do the SVS CS-Ultra's hang on below 30Hz? 2) How does a novice know the difference between performing well at 30Hz or above, or falling off quickly below 30Hz? Especially if that person (me) has never had a sub before? I'm thinking about getting a pair of RF-7's, an RC-7, and two pair of RCR-5's for the ceiling. My initial thought was to get the RSW-15, but then I thought I would be upgrading by going to the Sunfire Signature. From your response, it sounds like that may not be the case. I'm now leaning towards the SVS... My room is approximately 6000 cubic feet (if that matters). Thanks much!
  4. Does anybody have instructions for the installation of the reference series ceiling speakers? My main question is whether or not the installation kit is manditory, and what consequences may come from (possibly) not using the installation kit. These speakers would be installed in a drywall ceiling that has another floor above it. Thank you much!
  5. Opinions please from those who have heard the Denon hiss.... I was planning on getting a Denon 3802 and a pair of RF-7's (along with some other stuff, too). I don't have a local shop that carries both the receiver and speakers, so I can't listen to them together. Do you think it would be best to think about another receiver, assuming the Reference speakers will bring out the hiss sound more than other speakers? Or is this noise very tolerable and not something to really worry about? I know everybody's ears are different, but I'd like to hear (no pun intended) from those who have heard "the hiss". Thanks for the input.
  6. Great forum! Thanks for the advice. You guys are very helpful. I'm sure I'll have more questions in the near future!
  7. Any concerns with sound quality when using bottom-firing subwoofers on a carpeted floor? Just curious. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the responses, guys. Not to sound to new at this (although I am), how do I match timbre and tones between speakers? Is that with my ears only, or are there specifications that would allow me to determine that? I do plan on getting a Klipsch center speaker. And since the center speaker is so important, I was questioning whether or not a more expensive Klipsch (non-Synergy series) may work better. Thanks again for the feedback.
  9. What types of things do I need to look for in determining which center speaker to go with? Does it have to be a Klipsch (based on the setup below) for the best consistency? I'm planning on a pair of SF-2's with the KSW-15 sub, along with SCR2's in the ceiling (rear). Thank you much!
