  1. Tool, for real. There's a lot of really trying mid bass on Aenima that will really show how your speaks can hold up, and if they have any resonance problems, IMHO.
  2. HK's new line of receivers has 3 crossovers (one for mains, one for center, and one for surrounds) that can be set at 40, 60, 80, 100, or 120Hz. They are one of the first to integrate separate crossovers for different speaker sets, which is why I'm selling my 2802 for a AVR525. The AVR525 and AVR325 both have this feature, and the AVR7200 comes out in February. The AVR525 has amplification for 7 channels as well.
  3. So, do I add these to the readings, or subtract them? I'm a bit confused by the description. Thanks
  4. Thanks for the info man, I'll get right on it. I've just gotta find a test tone CD. And nice quotes!
  5. I'd go with the HK simply because of it's advanced bass management.
  6. Yeah, it's on the beginning of track 4, right channel, really loud. Only with the crossover on though. Thanks for giving it a whirl. Maybe I need to get my receiver looked at....
  7. I don't know why I keep posting twice...
  8. Does anyone know where I can find some frequency response curves for the RF3-II's? Or if any exist? I'm looking to cross them over at either 40 or 60Hz. They're rated down to 37, so I'm figuring 40 is a bit low, but I have no frame of reference. Thanks to any who reply!
  9. No order.... Holy Grail Bit Lebowski Fear and Loathing Dumb and Dumber Planes Trains and Automobiles Ghostbusters Caddyshack
  10. I've seen a lot on boiling discs on the XBOX live forum. It seems to make a lot of discs work that didn't work originally.... I don't know how it works, so I won't vouch for it personally...
  11. Yes, I know. But you do have 6 weeks to send it back...
  12. Pricey is right! It would be nice to get a separate pre and pro, with an outlaw ICBM between them....but I can't foot it...yet.
  13. Moon, You haven't heard an SVS????? Man, you must. When I was auditioning subs, I listened to velo, and Klipsch. Although I REALLY liked both, I ordered an SVS due to the 45 day guarantee. As soon as I put in the Monsters INC. preview on the toy story DVD, I knew I had made the right choice. Not saying you should order one or anything, but if you ever get the urge, don't fight it!
  14. I must say, although the Denon has a great theater sound, it's stereo sound leaves something to be desired. Also, there's the issue with the occasionally crackling crossover...although this hasn't been proven definitively, I've talked with others who describe the exact same problem in the exact same situation. The triple crossover is what really sold me, though. BTW, orangepeel, my speaker setup mirrors yours with the exception of the SVS. I have a PCi 25-31. How do you like your 520 with the References?
  15. I was browsing HK's new line yesterday and started reading about their new triple crossover system. It's exactly the kind of thing people have been wanting for years (at least me). You can basically set a different crossover frequency for each set of speakers, i.e. one for the fronts, one for the center, and one for the surrounds. Not only this, but the frequencies to select from for each separate crossover are 40Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, and 120Hz. When I come up with some extra $$, I'm going to sell my 2802 and purchase the 525. After listening to my friend's HK, I also prefer the HK's somewhat more authoritative sound in stereo mode. Just some new info to share with all the klipschheads!
  16. Although I have heard Velodynes before and LOVE their accuracy, I can't afford them and would have to say that I can't beat my SVS for the $$.
  17. Anyone know where I can find some accurate frequency response charts (or whatever they're called) for the Klipsch reference series (specifically the reference 3's). Any info would be appreciated. Just wondering because I am thinking of rebuilding my system with a separate pre and power amp and utilizing outlaw's ICBM. Thanks.
  18. Thanks Diggs, let me know what you find.
  19. A good example: Radiohead: Amnesiac. Track 4 (You and Whose Army?) Throughout the first minute and thirty seconds, before the band kicks in, there is a significant crackling sound in the right channel, and only in stereo mode. Sounds aren't there in DTS NEO:6 or PLII. When I set the fronts to large, the sound dissappears. Thanks to any who try this for me.

  21. I've been bothered for a long time due to crackling on certain movie soundtracks and a few Cd's. I've posted on more than a few threads concerning this problem. I was always assured that it was, indeed, the source material, and not my equipment. Well, today I was listeng to a fav CD of mine, and it got to the portion that had some really bad crackling. And it is a part with a lot of intense midrange sound, just like in any of the films that had the annoyance. I decided to try disabling the crossover (setting my fronts to large)....low and behold, the crackling dissappeared!!!!! I then tried it with a few DVD's that were notorious for crackling...same results. I know a lot of other people with the Denons have reported hearing the same thing, and I urge these individuals to try setting all speakers to large and see if they still hear the offesive sounds. I'm very dissappointed in this, and am considering selling my unit if it is inherent in the brand. If it is just my unit, though, I'll get it repaired. Please, anyone with a 2802 that knows what I'm talking about and experiment for me.
