  1. Hello all!

sorry if this is the wrong place.

I recently purchased a pair of RB-5s as part of a bigger lot. One is rather nice, one needs help. I plan on giving a good sanding to both and re oiling the wood veneer, cherry I think. That part I’ve done before. One has a pretty beat up but functional woofer. I’m not to worried about it. But the previous owner applied tons of glue all over the baffle trying to fix broken pegs. The grill for that one is pretty trashed. My question is “what is the motor board surface made of?”.
It resembles plastic, but a thin amount. I’m hoping it’s mdf so I can sand all the glue off and fill the grill holes and re paint. Anyone know if that’s possible?

  2. All have been different. But in my room I would go

    5. kp-201

    4 quartet

    3. RB-75

    2 Chorus ii

    1. Forte iii

special mention goes the the RF-3. For how cheap you can find these around they pack a punch.

same  opinion as most others before me on this thread  , they are rebating the Forte 3 lately so it's definitely the best speaker for the price ,  as it is very closely priced  to the H4 ,  ------and sooner or later there will be  a Forte 4 , but it will be more expensive  than an H4  ----------or a Forte 3 -

-if you need a smaller speaker go for the Heresy 4 , if bigger is not a problem the Forte 3  -  both are excellent -

    Rebating the forte iii?

more info please! What are the prices coming down to?

  5. $1000(or maybe a forum member special price)!

photos do not do them justice! PM for high res photos.

i also have a perfect pair of RS-7s and a great pair of RB-75s that need a coat of lacquer, but are pretty damn good, if you are looking for a set. All original, can meet in a reasonable distance.

That didn't take long. That will end up @ 5g at this rate.

you kids are better off buying mine with some body damage from movers @ 3K.  LOL. Its in SC though.

    Ha!

funny enough here in Chicago three pairs have been listed for under $2k in the past month.

  7. I happened across a photo of this speakers box and it says plain a day “two 6.5 inch woofers and a 1.7 inch titanium compression driver”.

    say what!?!?

all the spec sheets I could find say a one inch titanium tweeter. A 1.7 inch would make it almost the size of the RF-7s compression driver. Can anyone clarify?

Thanks for the wisdom of the form!

  8. Was able to A/B them!

no vinyl, no Mac amps. Amazon HD, onkyo AVR, outlaw monoblocks.
Over all more similar than dissimilar. The highs on the Rf-63 were more chill especially rock. The only drawback was the bass got a little boomy but that is probably the rooms fault. Long and narrow with low ceilings. The RF-7s were a notch brighter but the biggest difference is that they seemed to make the room bigger. I guess a more spatialized image.

I would not kick either of these out of bed!

I planed on doing some movies scenes to compare but I have Rb-75s and rs-7s so I’m pretty sure the rf-63s would stick out.
