These were sold direct through eBay? I found what appeared to be his account, but it is seemingly dormant.

Cool amp.
What’s the logic behind having a volume control?

In my systems... I've only ever had an issue with unbearable sibilance when using vinyl. Changing the settings/set up solved those issues. If I had sibilance issues with other media, I always just chalked it up to the source material and never played it again (lots of Beatles stuff). The interesting thing is, after going to an all tube front end, I can easily play formally unbearable source materials to the point where they actually sound quite outstanding. Distortion is down, presentation is silky smooth and sibilance is nonexistent.
In terms of vinyl, what were the aggravating factors?

They have stores?

I'm going to have it built with AB. Just had to research a little more. Bob says 3 weeks from receipt of my payment. Thanks Kevinmi and Amped!

can you explain the workings of the auto bias function? How hands on? -

Sorry to unearth an old thread, but how can one price Line Magnetic amps. Their online presence distribution in the US is...limited.
He actually works for them...no slag against the amps, of course. I might eventually own one, in fact. -

No phono stage, I presume.
What are the “Modes?”

How much is that pair worth in parts?
That’s an interesting scam, at least.

With this amp, I assume that one has to bias power tubes? (Possibly why the seller doesn’t want to deal with tube headaches.)

I would say it's more of a "barebones" or "raw" amp. Nothing to worry about with the exposed board except you shouldn't touch it when the tube is on as you could get an electric shock. Just something to keep in mind and tell any curious guest that comes over - I haven't had any issues . Like all tubes the amp does get warm and the stainless steel + exposed board definitely helps keep it cool(er).
It's a heck of an amp. Bob Latino knows what's up. Definitely try to give these a try at some point to see for yourself.
I intend to. I have a phono stage from those folks and am very pleased.- 1

What’s the deal on these amps with the exposed board?
I wish I had that kind of extra cash right now...

That place....for the daring, you can order a PS Audio Sprout 100 for $89. I’m not going to link the “deal.”

I got a dirt cheap Luxman M-113 power amplifier the mail today; $62 including shipping. That thing sounds a lot better than I expected! Even at 60w, it might be too much power for the situation (auxiliary system in a smaller room in the house).

Steve Huff wrote a really favourable review of this amp, a personal story, rather.
He really approved of that Line Magnetic amp, it seems. Is there any way to get those serviced in the US?

I briefly had a Pro-Ject phono stage and introduced a lot of noise into the system. Thankfully, Amazon makes returns easy.

That’s a pretty specific con to run...

Thanks for the replies!
Any suggestions beyond the DIY realm?

I made lambs wool grills for my Cornwall's last year.
Attached are a couple of pics.
IIRC a single piece of 36" x 55" did the job.
The heritage Cornwall badge came from a Russian source on ebay.
Good luck.

Hi
I’m pretty satisfied with my PH-14 phono stage from the Tubes4HiFi folks and am considering one of their preamps. Their SP10 model comes in at $450 plus shipping:
http://www.tubes4hifi.com/SP10.htm
Any recommendations for a possible tube alternative in that price range? (I’m open to used, but obviously those prices can vary quite a bit even for the same model.)
I should note that there are no HiFi shops in my area, so trying to demo alternatives isn’t an option.
Thanks
