  1. i can buy a SAE 2200 amp ... do you think it could be fine for my CW IV or my La Scala clones ?

another seller has a McIntosh MC2120 , a little more expensive.   Which from these two amps would you put on the Klipsch speakers ?  or none of both ?

  2. The room is perhaps the most important ...

i was this afternoon near me to a guy for listening a SAE 2200 amp. It was drived by an old optonica preamp. The speakers were Klipsch RF7 MKIII, lthe cd player a T+A.  This set was very nice to listen.

I think the RF7 mkIII is not at the same level as the CW IV .. but it sounded really good. Bass was in the room, everything was fine to ear.

The tone controls I have used at a minimum at home are at the preamp level. Remember I am old so I have a old Yamaha and others but I have also used the typical tone controls like on my onkyo. For re-recording songs that I really like I use mostly studio grade equipment. Mostly analog but these new dsp units and of course my old favorite, ev dx-38, sound very very good. The 4080 and some of the minidsp I play with have very good sounding filters/processing. The progress there has been very very good.

    Thanks you Chief bonehead

    I am old too.😃

I will really try to find a preamp with tone controls like the McIntosh.

I have bought a dayton audio dsp-408 but he is noisy on my la Scala. Perhaps a problem with my actual preamp or bad wires.

  4. I have built my own clones of k-401 horns with wood.
To put my drivers on the horns, i had to use adapters.

The gaskets between horns and drivers are badly self made.

Is it important to have very good gaskets, does it change the sound if the are not right done ?

Pictures ... so you can see what i have done . the gaskets are white on the picture. It is a foam gasket.

You think that a McIntosh massive amp 60lbs / 30 Kg can navigate with the ocean waves to your home without breaking the glass of the facade !!!

I shipped Elipson spheres in staff (plastre and filass), for whom to know these speakers, from the meeting to metropolitan France without any breakage. You should actually know packing but it is feasible. I sent 3 pairs of spheres, those of Elipson 4240, the smallest with broadband Supravox and others still with HP brand that I forgot the name. It takes double packaging, then plastic bubbles, double cardboard, and that none of the walls of the cardboard affects the article shipped.

  6. In any case, if you separate, and depending on the selling price, do not hesitate to contact me again.

After me, I have a shipping cost and taxes to add to the selling price, so if, in addition the repairs are expensive, it may not be wise for me.

I missed a C504 on Leboncoin (well-known sales site in France), Arrggg. It was in very good condition for a price of 750 €.

I would like to find a C504 couple or better a C33 and an amp with autoformers type 2125 or more powerful for my CW IV.
