  1. Hey Ear, its nice seeing you. I am kind of a fan of yours. Your someone I look up to when it comes to what sub is better. Thanks for your review on the RSW 15. Makes me feel better about buying it. Would you think a sunfire sub would play well with it, or do you think they shouldn't be mixed?
  2. OK, So far I am getting the RSW 15, I was talking to a salesman about the sunfire subs. The Signature one runs about 1500, is that even a good price for it? Also, would this be a bad mix? The guy I talked to said its not a good idea to mix subs. Thank you in advance for any answers.
  3. Ok, so maybe I should tone it down by a half and get a single ultra. Put the RSW in one corner, and the SVS in the other. For my room, this should be more then enought. I think his Board Name is Big Ben. I saw that picture, wow, that dude has some money. OK, so the SVS question is answered, what about the others? Thank you for your answers so far.
  4. Well sence I am getting the RSW 15, would mixing an SVS sub with it be a bad idea? And if I do get an SVS, what sub would mix well with RSW 15? It seems they would work well together. The RSW doing 30 hz and above well while the SVS does the 30 and under.I was also thinking, is pluging a sub into an AC line contintioner a good idea? Also I was thinking after I get my sub, wait a bit and get Subwoofer Monster Cable first before I even start plugging in my sub. Would that just be wasting my time, or is it a smart move I would wait to buy the cable along with the sub at the same time, but I want to make sure I get the sub ASAP before my time runs out on paying for it. I put the RSW 15 on lay away to help push me to get a sub. After hearing my RF-3IIs for awhile, I am starting to notice I am missing alot of lower bass notes. Any answers would be great.
  5. Well what company makes this Revel B15? By the way, that Aerial SW 12 is a work of art to look at. Tring to find wood and built quilty that good is hard to find anywhere. I was so impressed, I actually had to show someone the finish on it. Anyway, another question is, if you heard the RSW 15 yet, which I think you have, do you find it slow? Some of my music has fast bass, thats why its a concern. I also seem to know you as the guy who knows subs better then most on here. No offence to anyone, its just I noticed Ears has alot of actual experence. If you could only have 2 subs, what would they be? O, and one more thing, what are your thoughs about the RSW 15. Pros and Cons. Thank.
  6. I was told each THX front speaker must be exactly the same. Well it sort of is this way, just the horn and midranges are switched on one of them. I think thast the reason the horn is the way it is on the center.
  7. I never had a chance to hear an RSW 15,only the 10. The 10 was good but I feel like I needed something more. So as you can tell, I put the 15 on lay away so I can make sure I have at least enough if not more then enough bass for my room. My question is, do you find the 15s slow? I asked the dealer and he said no, but he did say smaller subs do move faster. I know you say its is musical, but some of my music would really depends on subwoofer speed.
  8. This is more of your own personal instrest. From things I have read, you can either go for the RS-3s for a theather like sound or a RB-3 for a more music type system. Athought either way will do both ways each, one way is ment more way then another. I have the RS-3s and there awsome for either movies or music, but somehow I think my music would sound better with another pair of RF-3s but keep my RS-3s for movies. But anyway, see if you can try both ways in the store, or if the store your buying the stuff has like a 30 day trial thing so you can try either way to see what fits you.
  9. Well to tell you the truth. I was actually supprised on how much bass RF-3s have. Those 8 inch woofers packs some punch for there size. The only complient I have on bass is it does't go as low as some music I play, but 85% of the time there plenty. I only have to go 1/5 of my volume and my door is shakeing. If you get close enough, you can feel them, alittle bit, but its plenty enough to get along without a sub for awhile. But I still suggest a sub later down the road, but the RF-3s should be fine till you get one.
  10. OK, say your some cleaner guy for a billionare and he ask the group of cleaners who knows alot about audio equimpment. You speak up and he says buy be the best stuff you can get with this and gives you $100,000. You ask, sir, what room are you putting this in. You see the room is pretty big. Say 30 by 30 by 15 feet. What would you get this billonare with that kinda money? All the stuff I can think of might only get about to 30-40,000 dollors worth of stuff. Just something you might have fun doing. Any answers would be awsome. (by the way, no this didn't happen to me, its just a thought I had)
  11. Ok, I think the sub just needs some power to start kicking in some bass. Well I noticed it isn't so much sub volume, but pre amp/reciver volume. They had the volume up more this time and it sounded better. I guess the bass isn't all that loud at low volumes like the Reference Speakers are at first anyway. Its like it catches up later in the volume. I also think it will be louder when placed in my little room. Thanks for your answers thou.
  12. I have the whole Refence 3 series. No sub but I am working on it. But I can say the bass on the RF-3IIs are very good for there size. I played the Scopion King on DVD and the explosion at the end was loud, low and, clean. My Mom 3 rooms down had no problem hearing it and I wasn't really even trying em. I didn't even have my reciver set 1/4 up. I can admit I love these things. The sounds sound effortless and sometimes I even forget I am listening to speakers.
  13. I think its about 10 by 20 by 10. The CD I was useing was a Janet Jackson one. I can't remember the name of it thou. Also the sub was on the left coner. The wall as a left wall and the KSW 12 as the back wall. And the RF-3 on the left was about a foot or 2 away. The sub was angled with the active woffer into the corner. I think the woofer was about 6 inches away from each "wall". Maybe if I turn the main volume up more I might get a much better affect. Well, I'll try it out maybe tommorow. Anyway, going by what I said, is it me or the sub?
  14. My only guess is the CD. Well the first time I heard the sub it was awsome, then the 2nd time it wasn't but a different CD. The woofer was moveing. Probly about 1/4 excuresion. And I belive what I did as a test, turn the volume all the way down to see if theres a difference. Yeah there was, just not much. The sub is either set up wrong, wrong phase, or the sub has a steep cut off point where the bass point is that i was useing. But useally stuff sounds better then you set it up at home. It could be the higher frequences almost overtake the lower ones. I guess I'll go back and try it out again. I dunno, any suggestions on what it might be?
  15. When i was listening to the RSW 10 in the store I noticed that i could hardly hear it. Does this mean the sub isn't loud or does it mean its blending in so well i can hardly tell its on. I kept noticeing that when I would turn it up to full. I even ajusted the crossover to see if that would help. At 40 I couldn't hear it, or was it blending in. Are my ears bad, tricking me, or it doing what its suppose to. One reason I am asking because I want to see if even buying a sub is worth it, and if the Klipsch RSWs would work well with my RF-3s. I was thinking of a RSW 15, but useing the 10 as a basic reference(pardon the pun) to see what the 15 may sound like. Any answers on this would be great.
  16. Has anyone felt like they were missing something when they play music or movies with a RSW 15? With my RF-3s, I can hear the bass, but it sounds like I need more and I notice it fade out when it goes low enough. So I was wondering if anyone thought they were missing something, like maybe it didn't go low enought to hear a low frequency sound. This of course is not going by states and reviews, but personal experices. I was thinking of getting one. I don't want to start an argument about the SVS vs Klipsch war. I just wanted personal opions on if they think the 15 plays low and enought to hear all the frequencys. Thank you for you answers from the past and future.
  17. Well sence were on this topic. Moon, what subs did you have running. Is it just 2 RSW 15s. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but after what I just read, I think just one would be fine. Its bad enought my parents tell me to turn it down, I don't need naboors complaining(althought it would be fun to have that kinda power). By the way, that kinda sucks you have to use fake walls. I heard somewhere you can put installation where sound doesnt come out of the room. This is good for 2 reasons. Better efficentcy also meaning less power to get the same effect which in return means less annoce to others. But I have a feeling this will only somewhat deaden the power you have.
  18. Well I sorta have a DVD player. Its just my PS2 and with that remote upgrade, I don't have any problems playing any DVDs I own. So do you cosider that a DVD player? I'll get a real one soon. But sence I listen to music more often, and cdplayers play cds better, I figure this is a good way to go. I'll get it after the cdplayer and sub. And after that, a better TV.
  19. Well, I have 2 cdplayers, both aren't that great. One is almost broken but sounds the best of the 2, and my other one is decent. But I would also like a sub to. So I can either save up for the sub in a few months and get the a nice cdplayer after that, or get the cdplayer in about a week and wait till I can get the sub. Thing is if I get the cdplayer next week, I'll have to wait 3 weeks longer to get the sub. By the way, I decided on the RSW 15. I haven't really heard any complaints. I know about the SVS stuff, but I think I would be happier with the RSW 15. No offence to SVS owners, just I think I would like the sound of the Klipsch better. I know it can't play as low, but as I have read, from 30hz and up, it wins in the dB, which most of my music and stuff runs about this area anyway. Also it makes it makes my speaker system 100% Klipsch. I also just love that copper look.
  20. Well actually, if I were to get a sub, no offence, I wouldn't get another KSW sub. My KSW 100 is bascily replaced by my RF-3II. So I have one, I just didn't list it because I can't really use it. But if I were getting a sub, I would at least get the RSW 12. But I am serously thinking of getting the RSW 15. I have heard the 10, so I have a good idea what the 15 sounds like. Well maybe not how low, but how sounds. But with the sub subject out of the way, would my idea be a bad idea. I could get one RF-3II for a nice 320 bucks. But thank you for replying anyway. Its nice to know you care about my system.
  21. Well, I have been wondering, should I even think about getting another pair of RF-3IIs. Maybe get one as a center speaker. Well in THX all the 3 mains must be exactly the same. I know this doesn't follow the THX rules completly, but thats ok to me. I love my RF-3IIs. Or maybe get another pair and use them as B speakers to get some of those faint sounds and make em louder. Does anyone think any of these ideas are silly? Or is it considered a good idea. Thank you for your answers from the past and future.
  22. i am more of a music person, but i would like to have a system ready for movies as well. i think 3 rsw-15s are over kill considering my rf-3iis rattle my door quiet well. i was mainly looking for low frequency then db, but i say 2 10s so you have a smoother bass respone, but the 15 will go lower and louder then one 10 but might not be as smooth as 10s. would mixing 2 be a bad idea. like get a 15 now and something smaller later. well thank you for you answers thou.
  23. ok, i know the svs vs klipsch sub war. i am not trying to continue this. i just wanna know, what would sound better, 2 rsw-10s or 1 rsw 15. condersing 2 10s would cost 100 bucks more then one 15 where i live. also, it seems out of the 3 subs that the 12 is best value.
  24. Well I realize that sence the speaker is rated down to 37hz, anything lower should lower its power handling. But what if I was just going like 10 Hz lower? Would that only be a small or large amount of the power hanlding that would be reduced? But of course, the tweeters would have no problem running over 120 watts. So what if I set the RF-3s to small(12 dB/octave cut at 90 Hz), that should make it handle 150 watts right? But sence my sub isn't all that great, my RF-3s are my "subs" until I get something better. And I bet some of you think, who in the beep would max out such a speaker. Well only the woofers, not the tweeters. And as I said before, sometimes I like it loud. But its only for like a min or 2. Well thank you for your answers from the past and future.
  25. Ok, I have bi-wired my front three speakers. From what I read this is a good idea. A few questions I have are, is the speaker only 8 ohmes when single wired, and 4 or 16 ohmes each when bi-wired. Also say for example, you use 100 watts for the tweeter and 100 for woofers, is that 200 watts being sent? Also somehow I don't think the RF-3IIs don't hanlde 150 watts, probly 75 when played hard. I have 80 watts/channel useing A. And probly B as well and I have the volume about 1/3 up and its reaching its peak clean excusion. Thank you for your answers in advance.
