  1. I just put this play on layaway. It won't be a problem to change to something higher, or to another company. I can get this play for $375, so my budget is about 400. I want something that can play every format as well as sound good. Would this unit fit what I am looking for? Thank you in advace. CD
  2. The RP-5 is discontinued and may have a factor in why some don't talk about it. The RF-5 and RF-7 are still being made. I have never heard the RF-5, but I have heard the RF-3II and and RF-7. I do belive that music sounds good threw the RF-7. Hope this helps. CD
  3. Ok, sorry I am late on this one, but I just got my stuff about a week ago and haven't completly tested it all out. My sig says I have what your talking about. RF-7s in the front with RF-3IIs in the back. I will update my sig here soon. I have a Niles speaker selector which I can choose either my RF-3IIs or RS-3IIs or even do both. But I can say each have there own pros. The RS-3IIs have a better transition and don't draw much distration. The RF-3IIs are more direct but can do a fuller sound. So IMOH, it really is a matter of how you want to hear it. Try both or even do both. CD
  4. They should have on the box "Warning, may make music more addictive." The reason I ask is, music sounds so good that even if i have to go work soon i say, "ok 5 more mins." I almost became late a few times. Luckly I haven't been playing music before I go to work lately. Just a thought. Also, haven't you noticed that with your speakers changing songs is harder. Its like, hey, nice beat. Or when you have a song you use to like or never did, put it on your new system play it, stop, and find yourself going back to play the song again. Just something that has been on my mind with them a few times. Just thought I would share it. CD
  5. Well, I fineally got em. They are much bigger then I thought they were, but thats ok. Well, I got my first pair on wedsday and today got my 3rd one. I only have a few complents. They are very heavy and they were a pain to connect because those other wires took up space. I will say this tho, they are pretty nice. I don't think I'll be getting any more speakers for a long time. With all I have, I have very little room to move. But if they are my last, its a very nice last. I will try to connect a niles speaker splitter to connect 4 back speakers. I'll let you know what I think, I will say tho, that 5 towers do sound awsome. I found sounds in both the front and back I haven't heard before. CD
  6. Hey Rudy Well, I won't be able to buy anything till late next year do to other things I must buy and stuff. But if your dealer can get me some great prices. Just to get an idea, how much did your A52 and A23 cost. The C2 is way out of my price range. The most I can stand to spend all at once is 2000. Well, all 3 RF-7s cost me 2025 and I am getting all those at the same time. So, the only thing that will work are the amps. Thank you for your answers so far. CD
  7. Wow, sweet set up. Bet it sounds great. I want to ask, how does it sound. I mean, is it dark, bright, nutrual. I ask because I want to Halo stuff for the 3 RF-7s and 2 RF-3IIs. I will admit, nice work on the wood job. CD
  8. I say preview as I haven't heard both in my room just yet. Both were both played in entirely differnt rooms and different recivers, but you can still tell the differnce. The RF-3IIs were being powered by a Pioneer Elite 43TX while the RF-7s were powered by a Denon 5800. I realize even with the set ups its not fair, but I did try paying attention the main parts of each. Each has had some brake in time althought the 7s are newer. RF-3IIs for there cost are very good. They are easy to drive, have a good sound stage when set up properly, and do bass well considering there size. RF-7s may not be on everyones list due to size, weight, and price, but it does have its improvments. The 7s are less compressed, have more midrange and bass, more open, and sound more detailed. I will have a final review on them next week(maybe Friday) and may do a RC-3II vs RF-7 center review as well. CD
  9. I am thinking next year I will get a 5 channal amp. I would be powering 3 RF-7s and 2 RF-3IIs with it. I am wondering if this would sound bright, nutural, or dark. I am looking for something a bit more nutural then my Yamaha as well as some good power. If not the A51 then I may drop down to the A52(sound strange doesn't it and no put intedended). If these are good 5 channel amp choices, then how about some other 2 grand amp. Thank you in advance. CD
  10. Looking at my sig, I'll have 3 RF-7s soon(early October). I didn't know where to place this because it has to do with both the RF-7 and a sub. Ok, next year, should I A: Get 2 more RF-7s for the rears or B: Get a 2nd sub? And which sub should I get if B was your choice. Anohter RSW-15 would look cool. An SVS PB2-Plus would be great for movies. Anything in that range. Thank you in advance. CD
  11. Sorry mOOn. Thank you for at least trying. I didn't realize there was a big gap between the 2 times. But I did read your post about you working on your own room. I would also like to say you have a pretty cool HT. The 3 towers just look so cool. Well, if you like to know what made me do this, THX rules say to use 3 of the same speaker up front. I realize about the 80 hz rule to, but I am no THX fan, but the idea does make sence. Also, tower speakers are never THX certified(that I know of). I was also told, if you have an amp and a eq for each channel, you could get an SPL meter to make each speaker sound exactly alike. Just a thought. Again, thank you for trying. CD
  12. I have seen your site and looked around. I noticed you use to have the RC-7 for your center and later changed on to an RF-7. I am planing on doing a 3 RF-7 set up as well which I will be getting soon. I would like to know what your thoughts on the change. Like how it sounded with the RC-7 and how it sounded with the RF-7. I just hope I made the right move. CD
  13. I just put my 3rd RF-7 on layaway. I will be getting all 3 at the same time, and one good thing is, I only have $399 more to go and all 3 are mine. I am pretty exited. I should have them sometime in October. Well, my dream is comeing true, well, sort of. Sadly, I won't be buying audio for awhile after this. Maybe late next year as I have other things to do. Hopefully RF-7s are still being made late next year. CD
  14. I had a dream I had a pair of Dynaudio speakers in my room. I dunno why dynaudio, but, strangly they had that top part of the B&Ws that rounds out on the 801 and 800, but they were dynaudio speakers inside. Then the next night i had another dream I had audio stuff. The dream was to short to know what I had. I know this doesn't sound much to you, but I am 21 years old, and my system will be worth over 5 grand when I turn 22. Well, thats how much I spent, but I have saved at least a grand by now. I think after my 3 RF-7s I'll slow down and move on to other stuff for a bit. Anyway, do you think I am to obsessed with this hobby? CD
  15. If I calculated it right, it should be something like 0.00000002 hz. Remember, decimals are numbers to. I even saw an amp for about 100 grand in a mag that can go down to .1, but who needs something like that. I had this idea, get like 4 15 inch subs and tune the box to 1 hz. CD
  16. As in RSW 15 Ultimate Edition. The size doesn't haven't be bigger, but you could make an RSW 15 with an x-max twice as much on both the active and passive radiator and double the RMS power and sell it for about 2 grand. Also tune it lower by adding weight to the PR. Maybe start a whole new series. The Super Refernce Series. Yeah, the S-RSW15. I bet you can come up with 100 differnce names from here, but you get the idea. But please o please don't use the new refernce look. Ok, so, that means size isn't the issue anymore, and yet, we get more what we want. Any other ideas? CD
  17. Their RSW-15 seems to have done well. And if they do make an 18 inch version, I may be a buyer. The 18 should do 20hz with power. I realize the size of this thing would be big, but Velodyne made an 18 and people like it. Maybe have a 700 watt RMS BASH amp as well. It may be the first Refernce level sub they make which would fit the name pretty well. I was just wondering. This thing would be sweet.A Klipsch RSW-18 vs SVS PB2-Plus review to. Maybe if we do a vote and if the numbers are high enought, maybe Klipsch would make it. Who knows. Just toying around with the idea. CD
  18. By dream I mean something I would like to have and would be willing to buy over time. Ok, I'll be getting a pair of RF-7s on the last week of Sept(29th I think), and hopefully shortly after 1 more makeing 3 all together. So how would this sound Main:RF-7(soon) Center:RF-7(little longer then soon lol) Rear:RF-3II(have a pair) Subs:2 RSW 15(have one) and 2 SVS 16-46CS+(none) Power: Denon 3803(none) DVD:Denon DVD-2900(none) The cost of what I missing is alot. Just as of now and what I can remember, $5694 USD. Any sugestions on something else would be great. I might have everything by the end of next year. My biggest thing right now is the main 3, then maybe another sub. On LOTR:Two Towers, some stuff just didn't shake as much as I like but i also didn't have it turn up high either. But its fine on music and thats what I listen to most anyway. Thank you in advance.
  19. From memory, which with prices on this subject is useally pretty good. Going from RW8-RW12 and RSW 10-15 RW8:$250 USD RW10:$375 USD RW12:$475 USD RSW10:$750 USD RSW12:$1100 USD RSW15:$1400 USD Now, what I think is missing is something in the 600 area. Um, RW15 I guess. Well, I heard the RW8 wondering if my eyes and ears were agreeing with each other. For such a small sub, it packs alot punch IMO, and for the price, I think its worth every doller. I told my cosin(who has heard my RSW15)which sub was playing and she said, really? Makes me wonder how the RW10 and 12 will sound. CD
  20. Ok, I have the Reference 3 Series II stuff. Sence i am getting a pair of RF-7s, it made me wonder, how would this sound? Front:RF-7 Center:RF-7 Surrounds:RF-3II Sub:RSW-15 and later on, RS-3IIs as sides. Or would it be better to get the RC-7 as a center? The price difference is only $150 to go from RC-7 to RF-7. Thank you in advance.
  21. Well, now I am starting to get worried. I don't have this problem with my RF-3IIs, I just hope upgrading to the RF-7s won't be a bad move. I hope the problem is small and that you all get the problem fixed. CD

    Sub Prices

Well, the lowest I have been able to get is 1400 for the RSW-15, and 1100 for the RSW-12. Autherized to by the way. Hope this helps give you a benchmark. CD
  23. My question is, going from the RF-3II to the RF-7, what improvments should I notice. For example, better sound stage, better bass, more refined highs. Well, I ask because I can't really A/B them. I have the RF-3IIs, but I heard the RF-7s on a Denon 5802 or something like that in the store. I realize the 7s will sound different in my room. Also, they didn't toe the 7's in in the store, so with the comparison I had, it would seem the 3s had a better sound stage, which I bet isn't true. Althought they(RF-7) did seem bigger, more open, and more transparent. But I dunno if thats what everone else seems to have heard. Any answers would be great. Thank you in advance CD
  24. I am not 100% sure, but from what it looks like yes. If you care to see it, goto the classic product area on the main page. I belive that sence it is in this area that it is discontinued. Hope this helps. CD
  25. For those of you wondering what is going to go on. I just put the RF-7s on layaway. Ok, small step, but at least its a step towards what most of you would call a good direction. I would thinking of either getting aother RF-7 for a center, or a RC-7 for the center. So for those of you worried, I am going with RF-7s. By the way, my room is 10 by 13 or close to that. Small room for RF-7,RF-3II,RC-3II and RS-3II along with a decently big RSW-15. Also not the metion I have a twin size bed in my room. Don't worry, I have a plan on how to set it all up. Thank you for your help. Later I may ask, Ok, got my RF-7s, whats next? O by the way, is 3200 for a Pioneer Elite 53 inch HDTV a good price? Love that finish. CD
