  1. More critical than the height is the spread distance vs. listening distance .. at least that's my experience.
  2. A pair .. one is Serial 7N780 ... with the old style pWk on the front. Age? Value? Thanks in advance
  3. I am finishing a Home Theater and still need a center channel (and a sub - but that's another subject). Right now, I have K-horn mains, RS-7's on the side and two Heresy 1's in the back. The room is very large - 30' wide x 36' deep with a peaked roof (to 14', running the length) with the couch about 15 feet back from the screen which is centered on the 30' wall. The K-horns are about 12' apart, false walls angle them towards the center. I was thinking of buying a RC-7 or Academy (looking for an eBay deal), but then I remembered - hey, I have in the garage a spare set of real theater heresy's (RTH's) - the kind made from 1/2" plywood. Perhaps it makes sense to build new boxes for the RTH's (to fit the available hole better), and align the horns (what's the best way?) and effectively have a double-heresy center channel. The best aesthetic configuration would be the four horns above the TV and the 12" 'ers in separate boxes behind the TV, but I'm open to ideas. Any Advice Givers? Thanks in advance I don't frequent this place much - perhaps this has been covered and someone can send me a link.
  4. I'm looking for a couple good P-P power amps for my Heresy Speakers - does anyone have some for sale? I'm thinking $300 to $400 each, EICO, Heathkit, etc., with the caps and tubes in good shape, and in decent condition. Besides eBay - any in here?
  5. Thanks - they'll go from one theater to another!
  6. P.S.: I bought them off eBay - certainly not one of my better purchases. You can see pics there: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3019970272&category=14993&rd=1
  7. Sorry for the delay getting bcack. These are a Model HDB-12. Serial numbers are 2H768 and 2H765. They are 1/2 5-ply plywood, frankly not well made boxes - at least compared to the other Heresy's I have . I have not tried these H700's out yet. Any info would be appreciated - specifically, since these are planned to be buried in a wall, I don't really care what they look like, but is the thin 1/2" ply box prone to rattle?
  8. ... I just bought a set - sight unseen. They arrived, but the boxes, which were clearly original (or one heck of a good fake) are the same size as a Heritage (I have 2 sets pf them) but the walls are not as thick and of a cheaper material then the Heresys. I was told these were inside another box originally, and that box looked poorly made. The Grill Cloth is just wrapped around the end. The Drivers look great, but ... I guess I'll be looking for or building new boxes. Any idea what these are and what the intent was?
  9. Thank you all for the kind words. I was told they are African Mohogany, but I really don't know. I am certainly looking forward to hooking them up.
  10. With all due respect, I think mine hold a candle in terms of raw beauty - they do not have the plexi logo or wooden horn, and frankly, I've not even heard them yet - they are in the garage waiting on the house - but they are lookers. FWIW - I paid $2,500 for the pair, and another $500 for minimovers.com to move them San Francisco to North Carolina. It took about 3 months for all this to transpire.
  11. I too am looking for a better amp - and can't afford the Mac's. I have an AES 2A3 saved for the K' horns now in the garage - waiting on the entertainment center to be built. The Heresy's are mounted high in a wall, and will be the rear speakers when I get done, but they're all I have hooked up for now. This week-end, I hooked up the AES to the Heresy's. While the Heresy's sounded much better that they did with the Crown DC300 I had - they were harsh with the DC300 - I was not able to get very loud before the SE 2A3 broke up too much, so more power is needed. FWIW, I currently have a Dynaco PAS3 as a preamp. I'm gonna sell the Crown DC300 - but as for what the replacement will be, I'm looking also ....
  12. ... Anyone feel like telling me the aural difference, or directing me to a place where I can read about it? Thanks in advance

I have the room, and can buy a pair for 1/2 the price of a RC-7.
