  1. I know the place I would can't afford another World Series run. To esitmate over the last 3 weeks the bsiness lost 50% productivity would be an underestimation at best. People nodding off was acceptable, not being prepared for a meeting with the excuse of watching the game was accepted, going home early to catch a nap before the game was expected, coming in late with a large coffee instead of a medium was the nor. there were so few people in work Thursday, one of the cafeterias was closed and the other did about 33% of a normal day. the funny thing was the amount of coffee sold was equal to a day of a full compliment of staff.

    Exciting times for Sox fans.

  2. I applaud the Cardinals.

Come on there wasn't a gam that was even close t being a blow out. Both sides had absolutely AWESOME pitching. Both teams had their share of mistakes. To get down on the Cards is terrible disservice to them.

Both teams pithcers had the Best batters standing at the plate guessing at pitches. It came down to which team had the one best inning of the game. When the Cards were in trouble, bases loaded or 2nd and third, the Cards pitchers came thru.

Though the Cards lost you should be proud of your team. As a Sox fan, there wasn't a moment in any game that I felt as if the tables could suddenly turn in the other teams favor.

St Louis should be celebrating a great season and for the pennant. The deserve a parade as do the Red Sox. Well maybe a smaller parade than the redsox get but still they deserve a great deal of credit and support from their fans......

  4. I have a bose wave radio and it sounds pretty good. But at the price point there are altenatives that are equal, IMO and cost less than half of the Bose.

Cambridge Sound comes to mind. When they have their factory sales, the price make you want to buy more than 1.

  5. I have spent some time playing with calbirating my subs. A particular site that only sells subwoofers has some information on how to calibrate subs. Other forums seem to cover this topic, some more in depth than other. So the materials I have and have been recommended across the forums are; test tones, spl meter (radio shack) and some method of plotting your results.

My method is I calibrate the the mains, center, surrounds first. Then I move to the subs, no fronts no surrounds and I calibrate the subs to match the fronts. The sub level is based on an average reading across the 20Hz to 99Hz range (based on cross overs @ 80hz)

Then I integrate the fronts backin with the subs and start messing with the phasing to achive the best curve.

Did I mention I where ear protecting while doing this? I do.....

I use Excel to plot the bass curves as seen here BASS CURVES

quick tutorial how to graph in Excel

    One item I learned is that most test tones require an offsets to the results. Add the following;

At 10Hz add 20dBs to the meter's readings and at ...

    12Hz add 16.5dB

    16Hz add 11.5dB

    20Hz add 7.5dB

    25Hz add 5dB

    31.5Hz add 3dB

    40Hz add 2.5dB

    50Hz add 1.5dB

    63Hz add 1.5dB

    80Hz add 1.5dB

    100Hz add 2dB

    125Hz add .5dB

I know there is a lot more to it and as a result I find the subs to blend very nicely with the fronts.

    Please don't shoot me for this but here goes;

SvS has some good info how to calibrate in their FAQ section and if you can download on of the manuals there are some god set up/calibration tips.

What are your methids and experiences?

  6. That was a well written post.

Looking through some posts I do not see very much talk here about sub calibration which brings me to believe either its not important or everyone know how to do it.

I seem to calibrate my subs everyother month, not sure if they need it of I jsut like playing with the spl meter and Excel.

  7. Currently there are 2 heated discussions taking place on this forum. I would like to say the users here are simply awesome! Other than a few minor quibbles there have been some excellent points brought out and discussed. Honestly, I do not think this type of discussion would be possible on many other forums without erupting into a mudslinging all out war. In my opinion this truly says a lot for the people who frequent this forum......

Believe me I understand where Trey is coming from.

If I could audition an RSW15 I would

  8. Indy,

All I can say is that the Tweeter gave me an unheard of price for the RF7s, otherwise I would have stuck with RF3s,

I am not sure how many were able to take advantage of the Tweeter closeout. I very rarely pay MSRP for any HT stuff. The only thing in my HT right now that is MSRP is a monster 2600. Everything else, at least 30% under MSRP. toherwise I would not be able to afford the stuff.

I am going to compare the Rocket 750 sig biwired (b stock for under $800 delivered) to the RF7s on Wednesday. I truly hope I hate the Rockets because boxing all the Klipsch up will suck....But some one will get a great deal on a RF7s, RC7,RB75s and RS7s.

  9. Indy

I am still here. Also I frequent the SPoT where I have posted numerous times. I must say when I started looking for alternatives to the RSW10 Tom V spent roughly 1.5 hours on the phone with me and a good amount of email not selling me a subwoofer but helping me get the most out of the RSW10. Not to mention he is a big klipsch fan.

Looking at the 2 channel section I see a lot of talk on tube amps especially the Scott. In the HT section I see a lot of talk on Denon, B&K and Harmon all the while there is very little talk on Aragon in this particular section. I do agree there is a lot of talk of SvS and perhaps this isn't the forum for that. Manyof the SvS chatters have contributed to this board in various capacities other than simply subwoofers.

As much as I would like to have a RSW 15 or two the financial impact is out of the question. Due to space limitations my HT benefits from a downfiring sub. I do not think the KSW line would be a good match for the RF7s, but I could be wrong.

Anyone want to buy my Klipsch?
