Patience is a virtue. Keep your eyes open cause they DO surface. Prices seem to be up but you NEVER know. Also, they WILL KICK BUTT! Good luck.
@Dave1291 Thank you! That is a great point! Sometimes it is hard to remain objective when making a purchase, especially when options are limited, but you are right! They DO surface, I just need to keep an eye out! Unfortunately, at the moment, I can’t seem to find very many for sale in Utah, but something will come up!

@Tanner., where are you located?
If you are up for a project, keep your eyes peeled for Klipsch Pro gear, something packing the K-48 woofers would not fail to please.
I am in Utah. I do enjoy projects! I had never considered the Klipsch Pro gear, but that is a great idea, I will look into that! Thank you!

Thank you for all of the replies, I really appreciate it! When I talked to the seller he didn’t seem to know very much about the speakers. He originally had them posted for $750 and lowered the price to $600. I thought they looked a little off, but I didn’t know what to look for. This has been a lot of help!
The grills are concerning, I would like to put original grills on them. He also said there was a chip on the veneer in the lower part of the cabinet (not shown in then photo), @geoff. I agree it really is starting to look more like a project, which I would be fine with, but probably not at that price point.

ask the seller to open the rear door panel of the pair of speakers , and take a picture of both speakers , then post the pictures to show us what drivers are installed , then we will tell you what the value is .......?
That is a good idea, I will do that! Thank you!

those are modified... Heresy never came with pins for the grills and those grills ARE NOT original. one woofer KIND OF looks original, and the other looks swapped.
300$ at most, maybe even less.
@Schudo you think the pins for the grills, (assuming they were installed properly), would negatively affect the sound, or would you say it is purely cosmetic?

To me, the woofers don't look original. Look more like Crites replacements, which is a good thing. Depending upon a closer inspection of the cabinets and the interior, $600 is an OK price.
Good to know, thank you! I will take a closer look at the woofers when I go to see them.

@jcn3 thank you for your help! I was worried about the drivers, but that is good that they look original. Do you think $600 is a fair price?

Hello,
I am new here, I own a number of speakers, but I really wanted to try some older loudspeakers. I found these on a local classified ad. I am going to see them, but I don’t know a lot about the Heresy’s and what to look for, or how to tell if this is a good deal?
Based on the photos, are there any “red flags” or questions I should ask? The one thing that caught my attention was the grill covers look different.
I apologize if my question is vague, please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide, any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you!
Here is the title of the ad and description:
LOWER PRICE! Klipsch Heresy I speakers
Condition: Used - Good, minimal wear
Good shape legendary speakers that began the audiophile craze. Own a set of history
Advice: Klipsch Heresy I - $600

Yes, I am starting to realize that a road trip may be needed! Not a bad thing though!
I really appreciate everyone’s advice! I had never posted on a forum, this was the first time, but everyone was so helpful! It can be difficult purchasing things secondhand, especially not knowing exactly what to look for, so having a community to run these things by is extremely valuable!
