HI, I have a pair of Lascala AL5's and on 9/2022 ordered a Decware UFO2.1s. After reading this thread and also considering Skunkie's youtube review of the Decware amp. I'm thinking I'd be better off selecting a different amp! While waiting for my UFO2.1 I'm currently using the cheap Boyuurange Reisong A10 amp (this also has a bad review but it is a place holder until Decware can deliver) and I'm actually enjoying this amp. Unless I but my ear against the Lascala drivers I do not hear any hum with the A10. I would be very disappointed if I purchased the Decware, which cost much much more, and it was not at least as quite as the A10! I would like the option of purchasing a second Decware UFO2.1 and use as mono blocks but this thread issue seems to say Decware is not a good match for the AL5's? Wondering what I should look at instead? Or stay with Decware? I'm hoping @ThomBoh gets satisfaction/ resolution with his Decware hum issue!

That would be great, I will wait awhile before considering a sub. Hopefully it will be a Horn load sub that matches the Heritage styling.

Thanks very much for the reply, but happily as I just found out, with the La Scala's the best subwoofer is NO subwoofer. They do have bass. It's a delicate slightly detailed pleasing bass when set up properly. I have been experimenting for over two weeks now and today I changed out my old 150 watt AB amplifier for a 6 watt tube Amp and moved the Lascalas about one feet from the back and side walls, and they really lit-up with an effortlessly, liquid sound. I was disappointed when first receiving them but they seem to now be living up to their hype. I know a sub, like what you have would. sound great but for now Im happy with the low end they put out and may reconsider attaching any sub.

I have a velodyne 15 inch servo control for my Lascala. It works well but Im thinking of changing to a SVS for greater flexibility. Id be interested in seeing how @klipschtastic likes his new SVS 3000.

Just curious, does anyone know if there is a break-in. For Klipsch speakers? When I had my magnepans, I was told they needed two to three weeks of continuous use before that sounded their best. I did not see any information about this in any of the Klipsch documentation.

Thanks for the suggestion about the spacers, I was thinking about the interaction between the two materials. I think I will be using felt spacers as they will not interact with the finish. Again, I will not be placing anything on the speakers, other than the glass, protector. Being in my mid 50s I don't plan to buy any other speakers after the La Scalas this is the end of the speaker line for me. They look like furniture that's built to last many years and the retro style should not go out of date. Kind of like the Porsche 911 will never go out of date. I definitely do not have one of those, but I will when I hit the lottery. 😀

The glass panels are meant to protect the surface from accidental falls /spills from things around it. It not that you would put anything on the top after installing the glass. It's much like buying a glass screen protector (ie Mr shield) for their smartphones or people sometimes put glass on top of wooden desks and other well made furniture to preserve the original state.

Sorry yes I meant Glass not class. It was a faux pas, although I am hoping that these will be top of the class speakers will be top class.. 😀.I edited all my messages and changed my class to glass.

Hi Im hoping for a pair of La Scala AL5 to be delivered, but before they arrive I want to have glass tops made by my local glass workshop. I showed them the La Scala spec sheet with the manufactures size dimensions. They suggested that I should not go with the dimension listed in the spec sheet, but do an actual measurement when the sparkers arrive. Does anyone know if there any significant variance between the dimensions listed in the spec sheet and the actual dimensions (ie the tops) of units that would suggest that I should not use the printed spec dimensions?

Thanks all for the reply. Even though headphones I can hear the musical presence and live sound of the LaScala’s. I do not believe I could say this about any other speaker. Most high-end speakers you listen to on the Internet sound ok but you don’t get enough distinction to say for sure. So I’m think it over tonight and MIGHT go for it (purchase) tomorrow after noon. This will either be the stupidest thing I ever did or the best gut feeling purchase I have ever made. If it turn out to be the first then I’m done with hi-fi forever.

Hi I live in south Jersey, I considering purchasing a pair of Scala's AL5 but cannot find a local dealer who has them to demo. I called world wide stereo, they did not have this model in their showrooms - I guess they are too big for most showrooms . They said they would try to get a demo pair in and call me in. But that was awhile ago, and they did not leave me with any confidence by suggesting I read reviews and purchase them on their website. "you will not be disappointed these are fine speakers". I refuse to buy speakers of this price, without at least hearing them first! Did anyone purchase their units based solely on Internet reviews/ research? I know high-end, audio stories are rare these days. Years ago a co-worker, who is much older than I am, he was RCA electrical engineer and helped develop color television. He had a pair of these and I do remember how clear and lively there were with a 1 watt SET amp, he developed himself. I was impressed back then with the Scala's, but could not afford a pair at the time,. I have always wanted to own a pair but not sure how newer AL5 version compares.

From your experience, is it worth using the UFO/ LaScala AL5 combo, if the UFO is not used in balanced mono? Im assuming the UFO2.1 will hum as much as the UFO25 with this speaker. I think I need to find another amp as the hum would drive me crazy also.
