  1. Relisted: No affiliation except.....I had a set like these in the 1980s and really enjoyed them.... TWO VINTAGE SEQUENTIAL S/N KLIPSCHORN SPEAKERS K-D-BB + LOGOS & DOCUMENTATION ! The opening bid price seems very reasonable to me.....this is a slow time on eBay and it may sell at or close to the open...... Colorado Springs is close to a major interstate for trucking these to most places in the lower 48........ The ones I had in the 1980s actually rode from the DC area to college in Ohio in a diesel-powered Rabbit with a roof rack. No kidding!
  2. Consecutive SNs too! I am not sure I'd refinish these. I might leave them "as is" for awhile.
  3. No affiliation....interesting looking very early set of K-horns.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/304659110073?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338197647&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 If I was looking for a set of early units, I'd definitely look into these and use Uship service to find a suitable driver to pick them up for me. I believe eBay does not allow sellers to require cash on pick-up so you should be able to buy, pay using eBay's payment service using a credit card and get them picked-up. eBay allows for remote pick-up and provides a QR code. You get buyer protection from eBay too.
  4. No affliation....Looks like a nice set of K-horns from the golden era.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/125788793727?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338197647&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 I used a shipping service to get my LaScalas delivered from IN to OH and it cost me $250 to ahve someone pick them up and deliver them to my door using Uship service where drivers bid on your job.
  5. Are you sure you don't have a place in your home (vacation home?) that needs well-reproduced music? How do you play music now? Otherwise, pass them along to someone else in the family? I'm guessing you can get $600-1000. But unless you need that money, these have a great story and memory.
  6. Are matched pairs only in vintage heritage speakers or does klipsch still install matched sets of components?
  7. Why in pairs? Also, did Klipsch originally select specific driver units for each type of model? From some of the older speakers I've seen, they appear to be ink stamped with the model they went into. I wonder if Klipsch was more selective the higher you went up in the model line? Does anyone know? I saw where Paul Klipsch sent an owner a letter with two tweeters for a K-horn in the 1970s and stated that these were "matched".
  8. Excuse me if the answer to this has already been covered. Are the mid and tweeter components of the heritage components all interchangeable? I see some units have the same designation k-77-v but are ink stamped "K-horn" for example. Did klipsch designate certain component to specific models based on actual measured performance?
  9. Hi....what is that? Did you mean bumping up? I am curious as to glue used in production in the '90s?
  10. I got my kinda beat up ones on eBay from 1997 for $1600 less $300 after I pointed out to seller that three drivers were not working.
  11. Hi All -- I am in the process of restoring the subject speakers and one of them has some separation of the side wall and top inside corner. IA woodworking friend suggested I use long clamps to press them into place with glue. Does anyone know what type of glue would have been used during the original manufacture?
  12. No affiliation......These look like a nice set worthy of restoration (Peavy horns??)...... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/5749245251844062/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks
  13. I'm new to driver mechanics. Can you explain the difference? Can I have them rebuilt to their original specs?
  14. That is correct. I found a NOS replacement squawker driver made by EV in 1997 for $200. Was going to replace tweeters with flush mount ones made by John Allen. Is this a good approach at least initially to get the units working?
  15. Hi all....Just received a black pair of LS from 1997 with AL-3 crossovers long distance (250 miles away). These were ex-theater speakers reportedly. Lesson learned, don't buy remotely. At least they were on eBay so I have recourse (send back or he covers making them right). Seller said speakers worked but failed to tell me not all components worked. Two tweeters and one squawker show no continuity (blown). Where can I get replacement drivers and/or diaphragms? Should I replace both mid-range units to have "matched set" or is this not realistic/ necessary? Do I have to replace entire units or can I indeed swap in the inner diaphragms? How much should I allocate costwise for replacement of these components (seller will reimburse). One cabinet shows separation around back edge and top of bass housing (next to xover). A friend of mind who is a woodworker said it has just separated at seam and that careful wood gluing and clamps will fix it. I will allocate freetime to this repair. Does seam separation occur in LS? Other then above issues, they seem well constructed and have grill covers. I had an early pair of K-horns (from 1950s and mid-1960s in the 1980s....one bought for mono system then 2nd added for stereo....PWK personally upgraded the pair in the 1960s) and really enjoyed them. Hoping to get these LSs up and running.
