  1. Thanks for the review.

I'm another one to consider on its preamp because the general comment are they can beat a lot of preamp that's twice as much as it's own price(maybe it's amp too, or other brands, lots of choices for amp out there). But I am waiting for the new model or firmware to support new audio format before taking action, while building up the purchasing power in the mean time.

  2. actually, I take everything back. The only way I can get sound to come

out of my speakers, when playing an SACD, is to set it to normal CD.

If I set it to SACD, on my Sony player, then the time goes, and tracks

go by, like its playing, but no sound comes out of my speakers. I have

    no idea what's going on...

I looked around the web, and these forums, and can't find any help... any clues?

Most of the current players which play SACD and DVD-A will only allow in analog output for the sound which you will need 6 RCA cable to connect to your reciever.

Solution can be getting 6 RCA cables if you already have them or get the new Oppo 970 player which allows SACDs to be sent through HDMI since the cost of 3pairs of average RCA cables would cost about the same.

  3. The RS7's are fantastic..

The 80 Htz setting is a THX standard, where most smaller speakers are used all around and lower settings 80 Htz and lower are meant to go to the sub(s).

I would always suggest people try different settings all of our rooms are different and your right, some pre amps have different kinds of sub sends in different sound format situations..

(It might be labled enhanced or regular feeds?? Just look it up in your manual.)

Please, please, please, if you have high end full range speakers for fronts, sides, backs and back surrounds do not "ROB" yourself of great sounding full range sound too. It amazes me with people with say RF7's, RC7's even 2 or 4, RS7's and a RSW 15... they set everything to small....

Wake up.. They can handle it, and your missing out!! HELLO!!!!!!!

Experiment and compare how they perform at different settings.

    Theoretically, as low

frequencies send to the driver which would move the driver slowly and

interfere other higher low frequencies before hitting the crossover

since they use the same drive. Especially hitting 40hz or lower which

will make the sound comes out from the same speaker muffles. Quantity of the bass would be higher but you get much lower quality in overall in turn.

Theoretically infinite number of drivers would solve this problem but it gets impractical [:S]

  4. I have it ordered for NSD and we will see whether it's a snake oil or really upgrade at the beginning of July. SVS offers 45days satisfaction guarantee anyway, you can always return it if the new driver does not offer enough boost for quality

  5. How come no one's up for foobar? M-audio Revolution with Foobar with digital out here [:P]

And I've both Audigy2 and Revolution. Switched from Revo to audigy 2 once I bought audigy2 for recording on another computer and turned it back to Revo within a week. Both are output through digital(coaxial).

  6. Thanks for the tip, figured those plugs would just make Monster a little richer.

How about the rear speakers on a 5.1 setup should they be installed behind or beside the listener, any difference ? It is now the time to decide before the drywalls are installed.

here's what Dolby recommends for the positioning of 5.1 speakers

    http://www.dolbydigital.com/consumer/home_entertainment/roomlayout.html

I have RB-5s as surround that they are all directed and it makes a big difference on positioning. However if you have surround speakers like RS would be afffect less. Yet you can set up the whole house now so you can position them wherever you want anyway [;)]

  7. For RC-62: Keep your center to be closer to the level of your ear in listening position as much as posisble. Dunno whether it would be above or below of your screen [;)]

You don't need those banana plugs at all. The benefit of banana plugs over barewire isjust good for keep moving the speakers around.

  8. Or try RB-5IIs with RC-7? Grab a second hand RB-5IIs for cheap and I believe their price will be just similar to a RB-35s. I had my pair for $500 and they are comparable to RF-3IIs in various area(better in some, worse in some) [;)]

You will need around $400 for RB-35s anyway and I believe the RB-5IIs can go lower than $500 nowadays

  9. I would recommend getting RB-35s. The smaller 25 series can barely keep up with the PB12s. I have it's brother(12/V) which my RC-3IIs(6 or 6.5" woofer. same size as Ref 25 series) center are too small to reproduce the mid to keep up with the rest and RF-3IIs(8" woofer) are barely able to keep up with it.

Go for the front and middle first. If you watch movie that much, invest most on the center [;)]

  10. You could throw a B0$e Acoustic Me$$ boom module, and this would not even leave any marks on him,as the carboard box and the two massive $1.99 woofers would fall apart.

Definitely quote of the week [:D]

Instead of laughing at people who use Bo$e, we should educate them to steer clear of Bo$e in rest of their life for helping our ears whenever we visit them again. I think that would help our own ears the future reference.

BTW it spells karaoke, it's japanese words [;)]

  11. Welcome aboard!

Where do you live davidsonm? Your local dealer's pretty deep on that..... 2500 is actually the MSRP. Try to call some dealers that is a little more distant but they are willing to deliver for lower price. I think that'll even be lower than 2500. Yet you have to let your wife know what's going on [+o(]

And never believe the sentence "it's not the money!" because wifes won't complain if the speakers were only $5 [;)]

  12. It depends whether you want to spend money into the system in the future. A whole system is a good block to stop you from buying new stuff as you already have one. Get a pair of main will keep yourself buying more if you watch movies often. Make sure the main fits into the new apartment too! Or it'll be big big headache for just position them with better sound reproduction [:P]

  13. IMO the availability makes big part for a good company. Not the massive marketing like selling in every single big stores like BB but allow people who cannot reach would be able to get their products on the internet.

That is kind of the low side that I can see for Klipsch from having stepping up from their promedia to snergy to their Klispch line for 3years. People read the online website much more than newspaper nowadays and Klipsch is low on publicity over the internet compare to many other speaker companies.

General consumers know Energy, Def Tech, Polk or even B&W(which stays much higher price range than general consumers' can afford) but not Klipsch. The growth of some companies that only retail online like Outlaw or SVS was even higher than Klipsch while their scale is much smaller(well marginal return does hold place, too).

Even though Klipsch do not allow internet dealers but why not do the selling itself like it's Bstock or promdia series? Now it has Ebay as its alternative ways but the scale is just tiny compare to selling online.

Klipsch does have a decent parts department which I encountered several times in the past.

And one last thing, I guess it is pretty impossible but I guess everyone will love a company if they offer upgrade to newer series or higher model for lower price! [H]

  14. The point of most of the people getting out there is the price like what stated above($30 a dvd player, $15-20 a disk or even just rent for $5). Most of us looked at here would be the quality difference and I think more of us here concerned with the picture and the sound in those new format. As the new ones do not have 1080p and new sound format it is still a little bit early to conclude whether they would be dead format.

And people start to get confuse with those new bunch of tech and need time to get them digested. I personally do not have favor in any of them and would rather have new format to dominate like DVDs because the downres proposal in Blu-Ray/HD-DVD. However, I would not mind if either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray can come up some audio format like SACD with more popularity and that format will have my vote [:D]

  15. fyi on an audigy /audigy 2 sound card there is a driver pack that installs the audigy 4 drivers, which let you run eax 3.0. The only significant difference in the audigy 4 as opposed to the audigy 2 is a lower noise pcb design. And the new drivers :D

Well reative force people to upgrade to their latest product to make more money..... many people are against it will do the crack, like what they did to Audigy1 upgrade to Audigy2.

I wonder does it support the Audigy 1 to jump to Audigy 4. Gamers would be happy if it does [:P]

  16. Many companies limit the XLR connection available only to their flagship or higher end products.... (or say, more expensive). I guess the cost of putting those XLR into there is not a lot but marketing issue. Those real balanced XLR should be connect to the system BEFORE reaching the conversion of unbalanced, the cost should be even lower for that by assumin the connectors cost the same. And I guess many cable company can make more money out of unbalanced cable and force the electronics doing the same? [:P]

  17. I'd definately be interested in your items. Can

you give me a list of them along with the pricing? I'm looking at all

things such as subs, speakers, receivers, sound cards. I'm not into

blasting my windows out, just quality, although power is also nice.

I only have the Pioneer Elite 43TX and Audigy2ZS platinum for you need.

For speakers I only have a pair of RB-5IIs that can spare out, my

RF-3IIs are still rocking until I can get a pair of 83s [;)] . The

older RW-10 sub was sold to another forum member earlier that do not
