  1. They are satallite size speakers that as long as the stands are for satallite speakers but not bookshelf speakers..... then that'd be fine (Ultra's satallite isn't heavy at all)
  2. As for one higher grade reciever between 2803 and 3802, i'd go ahead with 3802 even it's old model......... actually not really old but just last year model
  3. I guess most of the folks here are using reciever or preamp for doing it. I tried to use DD5.1 for connecting to TV and DVD player for my friend's budget HT. And it worked not bad. They were just opened their jaw for several seconds about prologic's simulation of the tv sound. BTW it's preamp, if you use that you have to use powered speakers

But The RW-12 should blend plenty fine with you speakers...but provide you with more volume and depth. Same goes for the PSW404/505 series. Im sure Ear has had a little more exposure to these subs then I have..so wait a few for him to post hopefully. ---------------- Thanks alot for answering . I guess I'd go ahead for RW-12 or PSW 505 instead of getting RW-10 or PSW 404 because I'm planned to upgrade the speakers afterwards(and it seems there's too many comment baout RW-10 doesn't louad enough). Thanks again

Did you use the per-amp or did you hook them directly to the speaker terminals ? Whats the Ohm rating of the PM5.1 satellites ? Thanks ! ---------------- I jsut turn all of them into output of the reciever(not the preout). I thought there's a difference but actually I turn my reciever's into 8ohm instead of 4-6 ohms(because I've more 8ohms speakers). It might shorten those PM 5.1's speakers' life expectency but a speaker can last for several years....... and I got the center speaker at $20 . Gonna change them into 35 series....... who cares(gonna take a year or two to complete the setup tho )

But I would ditch the 5.1 sub and grab something like the Polk PSW404 or RW-10. ---------------- Thanks for info. I've been looking for new sub from now on I heard many comments about the RW-10 doesnt have enough power to have great volume. Does my home need bigger size of sub like RW-12 for my room size?? Or sticking with RW-10/Polk PSW404(same size sub) is fine?
  7. At this price you can hardly find a great 5 channel amp.....(well I tried the same, then ended up with my reciever Get into ebay and look is there any luck for that. I just fonud some good deals for that: Harmon Kardon PA4000 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3066159451&category=14973 They also have Marantz MM9000 @ 700which i think is great deal but it's out of your budget, anyway here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3064630420&category=14973 Good hunting
  8. Another point wanted to make here.......... IMO just start with seperate amp and preamp(or u don't even need preamp this moment, if it's single source). And get a pair of RF-35(or RF-3II as you said as tight budget). Then go ahead for sub afterwards.

This works best with very compact and powerful subs like Sunfire and Velodyne. However with a PM 5.1 sub where the woofers are opposed this trick will not help much. And a carpet does not eat bass, contrary to some urban legend.Yes carpets do affect the upper registers alot, but sub bass...not to any extent we may call it a clear loss. Try the sub in a corner or against a wall opposed to your listening spot. ---------------- Thanks for reply . I just tried to use something heavy to push the subwoofer to the floor(instead of using tape, I don't wanna pull it out later). It wasn't really help alot as you said. I'm placing the sub into the corner of the room and I'm sitting in front of the room(A rectangle shaped room, I'm in the front of the middle). But I found out the bass isn't really sufficent afterall. Is that the subwoofer was too small for the room? My room has 15feetx12feet, does it mean I should get a better sub like RW10 or RW12 for fulfilling this size of the room?(ouch bugs bite again )
  10. Does anyone know how to solve the problem with the sub's stuck into the carpet and the bass was weakened that it was only audiable but not really strong??? I tried to place the sub into somewhere that's hard floor and it was really shaking the house in the same volume? Will a chairmat will help to spread the bass to whole bedroom? Thanks in advance
  11. Just got the power bar from FedEx and reconnected my components into it! And when I turned my sub on and reciever and try to turn to maximum volume.................. 10 "WOW" came out from my throat . All hums were totally gone(the hum started to came out when I turn up to 70% volume before). Tried several tests........ If I just plug it into sub it still has little hum(very minor, I walk close to sub and sit next to it to try to hear it). Connected to reciever only that doesn't help a lot(still helpful, getting up 5% more around). And both..... wooohooo BTW..... got my HTS 2000 thru ebay @ $80 with shipping Hope it helps
  12. I've the same problem here........ most of the people telling me that it can be solved by 3 to 2 plugs or "cleaning" the power by some power par First method doesn't work for me......... gonna receive Monster cable HTS 2000 and tell you does secnod method work or not

PhilH ---------------- Yea I figured out few days ago when I just found uot the price was suspcious. I guess they are replacing by that tho..... whatever just giving some clue for non-authorized dealer

  15. Try this: http://www.monstercable.com/MonsterWired/issue19/website_issue19/r_csg_homeTheater.htm DIY for hooking up the speakers have more fun than paying to the others..... seriously If I have time I'd like to do more on those DIY too

  17. Thanks for the picture that giving me some ideas how can I place them(bugs bite for xmas gifts ) I guess I'll get a hutch and lift the tv over the speakers or mount it on the wall(placing speakers/tv on a table but not a special stand) Thanks again
  18. Thanks for input and the problem woulc came out if you place below or above it. Basically you can't place it due to the thickness of the screen. And you can hardly place below it without anything to be holding the screen(the TV can't be placed over the center channel). I'd say it needs a hutch?
  19. I believe SC1 or SC5?? Depends on how many space and money you can offer for the speakers?
  20. How do you guys place the center speakers with the TV??? I wonder they are really thin that interested me to get one but I foun out I can't place speakers on the top of the TV? Any ideas or pictures would be greatly appreciate

  22. Yea I got all of the speakers..... sub reciever everything in black....... when I look at it as a whole.. just look like something in aside but can't realize that's a speaker except the klipsch sign on the speakers I'll look into maple for my next purchase on sub or speakers
  23. I just found out the sub had the hum with connected the reciever's preout and the humms were gone when I pulled out from the sub preout! Then I tried to place on the L/R source for some players that work fine! Does anyone know what issue would this be and how can I fix it????

  25. Or is that there's a better or special 3 to 2 plugs for that?? Tried 2 of them and both of them are not working........ may be they are cheap for passing the electricity through?
