  2. Does anyone know is there any method other than finding another power outlet in order to solve the grounding problem that prevents sub produces hum??? Thanks in advance
  3. I'm not sure about goodguys but they sell those reference speakers at quite reasonable price than others who sell online

It is not state of the art, but with 90 WPC, it will blow your sox off with Klipsch! ---------------- Yea older model rocks for budget limited . I got my Elite 43TX @ $500 and it's doing really well(turned on like 14hours and didn't stop the music or films more than 5minutes today )
  5. ---------------- On 11/27/2003 11:55:33 PM slowjoe24 wrote: Where did you get the Pioneer in that price range??? ---------------- I bought it from mydigitaluniverse.com ...... ended up around 530 with shipping comes with 2year warranty. You also can check out about ebay, there's one shop located in NY with $460..... poor me i'm living in Long Island that I had to pay the tax if i buy from that shop, otherwise I'd pick it.
  6. I had been looking for it like 2weeks ago(same budget). My choices were Denon AVR3802, HK AVR525 and Pioneer Elite 43TX. And I ended up with Elite . I'm very satisfied with my purchase and I just love my Elite . Try to do some research about them and see which one you'd like to get
  7. I guess you are doing the similar thing as what i'm doing Get a sound card that has coaxial output or optical out(In this case I'm having M-Audio Revo........... I also have Hercules 7.1...... it has optical out but didn't use it for a long time). Connect the output to the reciever and let reciever do whatever decoding or surrounding(usually recievers have dolby prologic II Neo 6 whatever). If you want the PC works as TV terminal or better noise filter for TV, get AIW card and plug the projector/HDTV as output. Then you can play dvd/files/tv/cable as many as you want as the terminal(AIW has RF remote too! )
  8. Just found out in bensbargains....... Here's the information: OneCall has the Harman Kardon AVR325 7.1 Channel Surround Receiver for $450 - 1% PASS Member discount (signup on homepage) - $10 code BONUS03 + $30 shipping = $466 shipped. Handles Dolby Digital EX 6.1, Pro Logic II, DST 5.1, DTS ES 6.1, DTS Neo:6 The link is http://www.onecall.com/PID_17141.htm?BCPID=396 Maybe give some clue for people who want to buy reciever(well may be more headache because more choices )
  9. Did you try different source to see is the sound has to be tuned up that high? This is the experience I just had: I have the same source from the same sound card but it's both analog and digital. I use the analog input that my reciever has to turn up to -15db and the digital input(Coaxial) that I can't even turn higher than -20db(yea can't in the night ).
  10. Just did another test, the sub starts to have humming once I plug the RCA's left channel into the preout of the reciever(the reciever is off) Strange preout for me........ Sorry was left channel......... not right....
  11. Just got my sub back from Klipsch and trying to connect it into my Elite 43TX However I've some problem with that...... I tried to connect it on Elite's Preout However something horrible occured: I connected it and the sub constantly came out hum sound from it and the sub doesn't work while other speakers play the sound. I tried to connect the sub into other source or analog from computer directly which works perfectly fine. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance

As for the subs, yep 3 SVS 20-39's, my room is quite large, 25' deep, 25' wide plus the door area, and 8' ceilings, with openings to the kitchen, hallway and bedroom. 3 seem to be doing better than 1 which is what I used to have ---------------- Stopping myself from pressing the "buy it now" button and wait until I get new center speakers No wonder you need 3sub My room is just 25'x15' and 7-8feet for ceiling(bedroom that is, nothing else.....

I got the black lights at Home Depot ---------------- Ok you are using the black lights. I thought you were using the neon tube to bend the shape like this(similar to the trends in computer cases' one). Cool light anyway!

How big is your room!?!?
  15. Looks hold it tightly and better than the banana plug I'm having Is that Y cable connect two sub after the speakers???
  16. Cool light!!! Is that Helium/Neon tube or what??

Are they voiced the same? Thanks, ADam ---------------- Do more channel level balancing in the reciever if you find they are imbalanced. Not the best choicoe but for intermediate I think that's fine
  18. ---------------- On 11/18/2003 11:29:58 PM chuckears wrote: Just finished watching it with Significant Other and Significant Offspring: Story stuff: I thought the added material served the characters much better than the added scenes in the FOTR EE. I was still not pleased with the alteration of Faramir from the book version, even though the EE makes those changes more understandable. Merry and Pippin were better served than in the theatrical cut. I enjoyed the more humanized Gandalf; it almost made his disappearance for half of the movie acceptable. And Gollum still rocks. I am disappointed that Peter Jackson did not realize until after this DVD was in the box that the final scenes with Saruman at Orthanc were not going to work at the beginning of The Return of the King... the scenes belonged in The Two Towers, and would have been terrific. I guess we'll have to wait for the ROTK extended cut to hear the Voice of Saruman. (Sorry to geek out with all the book references; I probably lost non-readers (you know who you are, shame on you!) about five sentences ago). Technical stuff: I watched with the DTS track; it was not as "hot" as the FOTR DTS track, and not as bass-heavy, but there was some very nice surround material throughout. The PQ was much improved from the theatrical cut DVD, which I thought suffered from an almost blurry, indistinct look. There were times on the EE that it seemed I was looking at the characters through a very clean window. Now, for the appendices, and watching it again four times through for the commentary tracks... something to do while waiting for the third movie... ---------------- I didn't have time to watch the full film last night and just played half an hour. Although I don't have the sub with me but I also figured out it's not shaking bassssss as the first one(in the first scene gandalf fights the balrog was still lighter than the FOTR's part in the same mine.) And the surround was really cool(the scene that looking for son's king it was cool but it came with a hard cut....... the sound turned from the back to the front's right suddenly.... bad) This movie's gonna take me several weekends to finish it
  19. Just recieved it!!! It comes with extra 43mins+ scene into the movie again(probably they will add more music into the film like first one too?). Can't wait for watching it! Poor me didn't have time to try it out now and my sub is being repairing in klipsch
  20. ---------------- On 11/14/2003 8:10:08 PM skonopa wrote: I see your Pioneer Elite 43TX came in. How do you like it? ---------------- Yea I got it Wednesday but didn't really have time to play it until this afternoon.....I just loveeeeeee it!!!!!! The bad thing was my sub's blown 2weeks ago.... having 7 speakers with no sub now . Otherwise I'd stick with the room and not going anywhere over the weekend . Btw I'm having little problem with it...... the multi input doesn't really work well..... (or my source's having problem? I"ll try it out later). The volume can't be tuned and it jsut got front speakers' working at that time
  21. The back surround........ I tried to take the surround but it stack with too many mail boxes........ can't even take the pictures
  22. Nice system(spit's falling onto the ground ) Here's what I got..... kinda imbalanced but trying to get rid of the table before I get a new center..... too small for those stuff I have and I got lappy and huge size textbook when I'm doing homeworks

The midnight mode is something all receivers usually have, it just named differently. ---------------- I didn't really take a thorough look into the H/K's one because the Denon and Elite 43TX are both comparatively more attractive to the H/K's one Anyway my 43TX will be arrived tomorrow, I'll see either I love it or not

I always try X Copy first cause it will tell me whether it will fit the copy on one disk. If it has to be fit on two disk's, I use Express instead. I also jut burned a few movies using DVD Shrink & Nero V6. I found some online guides that made it very easy. DVD Shrink is free but Nero isn't, however, you can use DVD Decrypter which is a free burning tool. DVD X Copy and DVD X Copy Express work well, but there are free ways to do it. Check out the guides on this site: Afonic DVD rip guides Here's some more guides from a different site: http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/ ---------------- Easy to use for DVD shrink made me turn into it just take a little longer time for ripping off from disk(it does ripping and decoding in same time! Takes 60mins for whole disk )
