  1. Haha, I'm going to be putting my setup into a 2004 Ion Sedan. Nice little cars for the price. Do you have any trouble with rattling? Since they're half plastic and all..
  2. Looks amazing. Must be a FUN car to drive. I should be buying the Orion XTR 2150 tomorrow, 219.99 shipped to my door. Now to begin the process of building an enclosure...
  3. I loved how it satires the general american view on middle eastern culture- as a starwars-outskirts type place where the language consists of the 3 words "jihad", "sherpa", and "muhammad ali". Classic.
  4. I know this may sound insulting... but are you sure you have the cd's facing the right way? I've done it before... boy did I feel dumb.
  5. Also, about how much should I be willing to pay for the 2150? There's one with a BIN option on ebay for $199+20 shipping.
  6. The amp I planned on was the 225 model- Orion HCCA 225 G4, rated at 100x1@4ohms. With this amp combined with the sub I'm getting, I'd be producing 104.1 db @ 64 watts power (the sub's sensitivity is 86.1), not including box and other gains. Does this not seem like enough power to you? I'm not looking for SPL, but just some nice SQ that can reach a good volume. Since this amp is underrated, I figured it should be plenty... am I making an error somewhere in my thought process? Please correct me if I am. I'll keep my eye on the 2150 though, keeping to your advice. However, if something goes wrong do you think I should be looking elsewhere than the HCCA as a second choice?
  7. Sorry if I came off as questioning your knowledge... I just wanted to clarify a few things. Thanks a ton for your info, I trust you and the people here over the yahoos on most other car audio forums. Im watching the ebay auction for the SX amp closely, but just have a gut feeling its going to get to a price where I cannot afford it. Hopefully it doesnt. My second choice is the Orion HCCA amp, which by luck, happens to have one of the ebay retailers dealers just 20 miles from my house (the one they have is the newer, G4 model... these are still good right?). I've scoured the internet and it seems to me they've become fairly rare. I cannot find a bad review on this thing... it looks great. My only qualm is that it seems to be a little underpowered for what I'm looking for, but hear its greatly underrated. The dealer near my house is selling it for 229.99, so with tax I'd be walking out with it for just under 250 dollars.
  8. The passive woofer on the back looks pretty crunched too... not dented but actually folded and crunched. Thanks for the heads up though
  9. I live about 20 minutes from these... but every single one of the drivers on those poor things are crunched, pushed in, or just look bad. Such a shame... I'd probably get them just because they're so close and cheap if they were in relatively decent shape.
  10. Quick question... hopefully quicker reply, ebay auctions are going fast... What exactly do you mean when you say "the amp is junk". Do you mean it will sh!t out on my fast, not hold up to its power rating, have distortion, sound bad, what? Does it really matter that much for a car sub? I'd understand for nice home audio, or even component speakers, but just for bass in a car, does it really matter? Quick reply would be helpful.
  11. What makes you say the new Orion amps are junk? I've looked over a few car audio forums, and the general consensus on them is that they are pretty decent. I trust the members on this forum more, but I'm just wondering how much a differnce it actually makes... Also, the ebay seller for the 2150sx has it rated at 300x1 @ 4ohms... this contrasts with what you said.
  12. Okay, after taking into consideration the previous posts and looking around a bit more, heres what I've come up with: ORION 6002 2 channel amplifier This amp gives me 600x1 @ 4ohms, but is used from a low feedback ebay seller. Itll probably go up in price too (currently at 150 shipping included) HIFONICS ZUES ZX4000 2 CHANNEL AMPLIFIER BRAND NEW This amp gives me 400x1 @4ohm, is brand new, costs less, and has buy it now. Orion 2150 SX 600 Watt AMp This one claims 300x1 @4ohms, but is used. I read up somewhere and found that this model is the older version of the amp you amp you recomended earlier. Do any of these jump out as a better deal? Since the watt difference is relatively minimal in reference to the difference in output it will produce (since double wattage is needed for 3db increase), which looks best? Or do you have any other brands you'd suggest?
  13. Space is not really and issue, however money is. I'm not even going to click that link... it'd make me too jealous Thank you though.
  14. Thanks for the quick reply I don't need this sub to be anything of worthy of a SPL competition, but I would like to have some fairly nice thump in my trunk. Forgive my inexperience, but I'm not sure what "is the vc DCR 2.8 ohms" means. On the site it says the subs are "dual 4ohm", so I'd assume that means a dual voice coil? Again, I am not sure what you mean by wiring in series or parallel. Thanks for the names of brands to check into. I dont mind buying new or used, but I'd preferr to stay away from Ebay, I've had bad experiences there in the past. I'm looking into a lot of the amps on Parts Express, and several of them say they can be bridged to achieve ratings in excess of 500wattsx1 into 4ohms, at sub $120 prices. This seems like a great deal to me. Would the difference between one of these amps and one which costs $200+ be noticeable for my application? Logically to me, it seem that since its merely for a sub in a car, it would not make a difference that justifies me spending hundreds more. Does that seem right to you or am I making a mistake? Thanks.
  15. Im going to be getting an RE sub in about a week (model: se12), and now the search for an amp to pair with it begins. I'm relatively new to car audio, so I would appreciate the expertise of someone who has some experience. On the website I listed, it has the sub I want rated at 600watts RMS/1200watts peak at 4ohms impedance. What kind of power am I looking at for being able to push this thing? I've been told I want something with around 400-600 watts, but I would like to confirm that. Here's what I've narrowed it down to so far... MA AUDIO M1889i 1x400W POWER AMPLIFIER HIFONICS BRUTUS BX1500D CLASS D MONO 1500 WATT AMP The Ma Audio is rated at 400 watts, and the Hifonics Brutus is rated at 500 watts, both at 4ohms. My main question is, does the brand of amp really matter when it comes to car audio? Specifically, with subwoofers? If there would be no large difference in sound, I'd much rather go with the cheaper, safer bet from Parts Express. Answers, feedback, and maybe even reccomendations on a different amp would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading.
  16. You might want to check into the new napster. I believe its like renting your music.

    Just seen Sin City

It was awesome. The music, characters, everything was great. Having never read the comics before I didn't know what was going to happen, so it made it even more enjoyable. Definetly a guy movie though.

The chrome grill on the newer one seems to give it a bit more class. I have a few more options on mine, such as the power windows and power sunroof. I also have the remote/keyless entry. I also have the 15 inch alloy wheels and rear spoiler. The CD player is also capable of playing MP3s. However, that is going to be swapped for my Alpine XM/CD deck. Also, the factory audio system is going to be replaced with my MB Quarts speakers, 12-inch JL Audio sub and 500 watt amp (which I, thankfully, was able to recover out of my last vehicle). As to the issue of lack of refinement, that is something that was somewhat addressed with the 2005 models. I am not expecting Cadillac type refinement, but at the same time, I at least want something a bit better than your typical cheapo "Eco-box" car. From what I've read, the steering wheel is larger in the 2005s, as well as some enhancements they made to the interior. What I was really jonesing for was the ION Redline. Unfortunatly, I could not get one until at least April, and I just did not want to wait that long. Also, the performance models tend to be more of a maintenance hassle as well. Overall, after having it for a couple of days now, I am still quite pleased with my new car. I've gotten some good comments at work as well as at the gym about my car. It seems that the people really like that color as well ("Dragonfly Green", according to the Saturn website. To me it is "Teal". I really like it myself, although I originally wanted the "Pacific Blue"). ---------------- yeah, the grill is more "elegant" on the newer 05 models, I prefer the old though... just my taste. On mine the only options, if you can call them that, were the am/fm radio and A/C. I replaced the stock speakers (which I found just horribly muddy) and stock headunit with a pioneer cd player and pioneer 4ways. They sound decent, at least for not having an amp beyond the HU's. For the refinment, I've also heard the 05's are a lot better in the category. I personally like the small steering wheel... it looks a little weirds but I like the way it feels. The Ion redline is beautiful... but it was simply out of my price range, even at 17k or whatever it costs *which i think is great for what it does*. The design, power, everything on it intrigues me... I wish i could have one! I agree with you, the pacific blue is really hot looking. I wanted that too, but all they had at the price I wanted were white, silver, and red. White gets dirty too fast, and silver is just boring. Im happy with the red. Have you taken a gander over at the new SKY model thats coming out? It looks absoluetly amazing... a stylish saturn... mmm. If you ever have some time, you might want to take a peak over at www.saturnfans.com some really great forums there for saturn enthusiasts.
  19. Skonopa, thats a nice lookin satty you got there. Glad you like it! I also own a Saturn Ion, and I'd reccomend it for someone on a budget. The one I have is a 2004 Ion1 Sedan Manual, just going on 5k miles. What drove me most to it was the price. 10,800 out the door new. It also gets pretty good gas mileage (28 city 32 hwy i think its rated at). Heres a pic of what mine looked like new While I have the sedan, the coupe version looks damn sporty. With the 140hp 2.2l ecotec and a manual transmition, its got some pep to it. I also love the way it steers with the electronic power steering... buttery smooth. The only qualm I have with my car is its lack of refinment, but thats expected in getting the base trim, no options. If you're looking for something with a bit more space, the L300 series saturns are great. If you're still in a mood for an SUV, you might want to look into a saturn VUE... not too big, but lots of space in it, and it gets over 20mph (23/29), it comes standard w/ manual too. We're a saturn family. Dad has the Vue, mom has the L, and I have the Ion.

    SAW

If you liked SEVEN, you'll love this movie. I did.
  21. I'm on the page it describes, but the "action" column for my the transaction i want to cancel is blank. There a space, but nothing in it... It says "unclaimed" under the status of the transaction i want to cancel. Also, under the "details" link/menu for the transaction, it says this next to the sellers name "(The recipient of this payment is Unverified)". =/ So I guess I can't cancel it...?
  22. I'm pretty new to paypal, and as I wrote in a different post, I was starting to get worried about a purchase I had made through ebay. The seller had zero sales, and it has now been a week since I won the auction and he still has not claimed my payment or made email and/or telephone contact with me. I've emailed him several times, as well as trying to call his number only to get a generalized answering machine for what seems to be some corperate office. How do you go about cancelling your payment on paypal. Right now, it says "unclaimed" next to his name in my recent activity chart. Do I have to file a claim, or is there an easier way? I'm hoping since a lot of you have much paypal/ebay experience, you can help me out. It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  23. Hmm... my address is the same as my payment address. Thanks for replies, they are much appreciated.
  24. Payment To: david klein (The recipient of this payment is Unverified) This is what it says next to his acount when I click on the details link. Is this what you mean?
