I plan on buying the Rf-35's soon along with a HK avr-125 reciever. I was wondering what type of speaker wire/ connections i should get. What gauge/ maker / where should I get it from? Also, should I get some type of connectors such as bannana plugs or anything like that? Help is appreciated.

You make it sound like the Ultras all have a problem. You should just get them from Bestbuy with an 2-year extended warranty and save yourself 500 or so dollars.

I'm using a Pioneer DEH-3600 (pretty sure thats the model #) headunit, and powering two pairs of Pioneer 4-way speakers (6.5 inch driver) from the headunits amp. Nothing too special, but it sounds 10x better than stock. Sometime in the future I'll probably get a 4 channel amp for the speakers, they can't get very loud without clipping the amp.

Also, I wanted to add that the battery in my car is in my trunk, so the run for the power wire is going to be fairly short... probably around 7 feet.

I really was planning on installing the thing today... I'm really anxious! Will it be bad for me to hook up the amp by shaving some of the cable to make it fit and leaving it like that for a little while untill I can get the plug shipped out to me? I had my plans all set today for installing it, I'd hate to have to wait another week or two. Oh, and for those of you who are worried about the noise pollution... I don't plan on crusing around at 12am blasting rap... I hate people who crank their subs like crazy just to annoy others, I don't plan on doing anything of the sort.

Oh yeah, and I have a 60 or 80 fuse in the line... and am using 4 gauge for both the power and ground.

Haha wow thanks for all the info everyone. I love these boards. If I'd asked at some car audio forum I'd probably just get flamed for my "old" amp. I feel really stupid for buying it now... but I already have it, so I'll just shave some of the wire off the tip like you said. Thanks.

Its for powering the amp, I was told that for in the 600-800 watt range you want to get 4 gauge.

This is car audio related, but I trust this board over all others... so sorry if its a little off topic. I bought some 4 gauge wire for my Orion XTR 2150 amplifier that I will be using to power a single subwoofer. Itll be putting out around 600 watts so I was told to get the 4 gauge power wire. However, I just got the wire today and it doesnt look like its going to fit in the plugs that come with the amp. Is there any possible way to make the wire fit? Is it ok if not all the wire is in contact with the connector on the amp? Thanks...

I don't see a xover dial anywhere on the XTR 2150, so I assume I will be using the headunit in its place. I'll post some pics of the amp so you can see what I mean.

I bought a 50' spool off parts express for just under 23 dollars. Also got a 4 gauge amp kit and 17' rca cable from them. SO much cheaper than buying from bestbuy, circuitcity, or radio shack.

As my luck turns out, they accidently sent me an RE SX sub, which is the next line up. This thing runs a DVC @ 2ohms, so running in series should give me a 4ohm load, perfect for my amp. I ordered 12gauge, as it was literally 2 dollars more for a 50 foot spool. Had to get the spool, nothing else was as cost efficient.

I'm going to be running an Orion XTR 2150 amp at 600watts x 1 @4ohms into a RE SX12 sub that is rated at 1000watts RMS @ 2ohms. I'm going to wire it in series in order to get the 4ohm load I need. What gauge speaker wire should I use for the amp to the box/sub? Is 12 gauge good, overkill, or still not enough? I trust the opinions on this board over any car audio forum Thanks.

I'm in love with your Camaro... they are one of my favorites. Glad to see its a stickshift, and not auto. I ordered the XTR2150 today, should be here in a week. Thanks for the advice!
