  1. Sad day indeed.....May our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Today I managed to put all my Klipsch speakers through their paces.....and they never let me down as always! I will listen as I always have, but now with a stronger sense of pride because I own several pieces of Klipsch history We can only hope that Klipsch will keep near and dear his vision, philosophy and most importantly love for the music. Maybe the Heritage line will see a resurgence. ------------------ Brett's Home Theater My system(s): Great Room--- KLF-30's Bi-wired KLF-C7 KSP-S6's Monster cable 14 gauge in-wall cable Audioquest interconnects Niles SPS-4 speaker switch box Niles wall plates Niles in-wall volume controls Marantz SR-8000 Toshiba SD-4205 5 DVD changer Pioneer PDF-1007 301-CD changer Mitsubishi 35" TV Mitsubishi VCR Pioneer VSX-608 Multi-room amp for Outdoor deck Polk All-weather AW2's deck speakers Panamax DBS-8 Surge Protector Master Bath--- Klipsch IC-525's in Master Bath 13" Sony Wega in Master Bath Niles Wall volume control in M/Bath Basement HT----- SE-13HD LCD Projector Da-Lite 52" x 92" High contrast screen Chorus II Mains KLF-C7 Center KSP-S6 Surrounds KSW-15 Front sub KSW-100 Rear sub Pioneer VSX-810 DD/DTS-ES receiver JVC-XV-FA90BK 7 Disc progressive DVD Panamax MAX1000 Surge protector/line conditoner Comcast Digital Cable Philips S-VHS VR-1010 1 Lava Lamp for Ambience Fridge full of beer and plenty of Don Julio, Jagermeister and Jim Beam

  3. Thanks a lot!!---Please visit/re-visit my link in first post or below to all my photos. I just addded several photos of 9 new, framed movie posters as well as a number of new screen shots in the corrected aspect ratio. Let me know what you think. The movie posters add a nice finishing touch. The Klipsch sound Trey-mendous....(Thanks Klipsch, BOBG, TreyC, PhilH) Now all I need to do is save up for those new RSW-15 subs.....Two of those should spice it up a notch!! 6. Keith- Go for it, just make sure whatever you paint is very clean and free from dust before during painting and in a dust free environment while drying or tacky. A Klipsch sub should be easy since they do not have the smooth wood veneer. Smoother surfaces show more defects....Think the hood of your car. I edited my posts to reflect I used Rust-Oleum not Krylon black satin enamel. Vavoline- thanks for the comments. It is indeed a great treat now to enjoy with my family and friends. I am picking up 8 movie posters I had framed this Monday and will be mounting and then posting the new photo's to my site probably late Monday night or Tuesday. It should really be a nice finishing touch. 7. Talk to Keith--I forgot to include on Chorus II refinishing that I removed the original brown burlap speaker cloth---BLAH!...and carefully pulled off the Klipsch stamped metal logos from each. I purchased some black grille cloth from Joann Fabrics and used 3M solvent based spray contact adhesive, Stong stuff, and rebonded new grille cloth and then used Krazy glue to re-bond logos to the face of grilles/grille cloth...... Whole project cost less than $20 and took about 6-8 hours over 3 days. Very easy, just take your time and think things through. I used 2 cans of Rust-Oleum Black Satin Enamel for the Chorus II's and the C7. 8. Thanks for all the great compliments!!!!!!!! Sorry for the delay in response but family trip to Disney for the last 10 days kept me out of touch......It was a form of rehab being away from all my new HT equipment!! Maybe worse!!! Anyway, to asnwer a few questions: HornEd- center speaker is toed up towards listeners in front row and mains are toed in slightly....I used a laser pointer to shoot the sweet spot in the face when seated...(Is this obsessive???) Boa12- Yes, I am currently on a mission for a new or used C7 for the rear center............Anyone????? I have some good trades! Talk to Keith-- Chorus II's & C7 were refinished by simply light sanding with 220 sandpaper then using a tack cloth to remove all dust. speakers were then masked with painters tape and all "finished wood" surfaces were spray painted with 2 coats of Rust-Oleum Black Satin Enamel. They turned out awesome and look brand new/factory condition. Waited about 24 hours between coats. Surrounds were mounted approx. 2 feet behind first row seating and even or slightly ahead of 2nd row. Bottoms of speakers are 52-53" from floor and they are 15" tall, making top at 67". J-malotky- I wen to great lengths insulating the walls and ceilings of my basement to prevent vibrations and sound throughout the rest of house. I have killer sound and bass and nothing has walked off a shelf....yet! Thanks again and keep the questions coming!! 10. lovedrummin---I have the FA-90BK and love it for the progressive scan, 7 disc capacity and DVD-A...I paid $340 brand new, shipped to my door from onecall.com in 12/01. Changer is slightly noisy and slow due to design but functionally works great. My biggest complaint about this machine is that it does not have the compass cursor on the face of the player only on the remote so if you are standing at the machine you have to use the remote to move up/down/side to side on the DVD menu screens! Not very well thought out, but probably for space reasons (7 disc capability vs cursor) so not a big deal overall and I would definitely recommend this player based on quality and performance and DVD-audio is a great plus! ------------------ My system(s): KLF-30's Bi-wired KLF-C7 (2) KSP-S6's (2 Pair) KSW-15 Front Sub KSW-100 Rear Sub Chorus II's Monster cable 14 gauge in-wall cable Audioquest interconnects Niles SPS-4 speaker switch box Niles wall plates Niles in-wall volume controls Marantz SR-8000 Toshiba SD-4205 5 DVD changer Pioneer PDF-1007 301-CD changer Mitsubishi 35" TV Mitsubishi VCR Pioneer VSX-608 Multi-room amp for Outdoor deck Polk All-weather AW2's deck speakers Panamax DBS-8 Surge Protector Klipsch IC-525's in Master Bath 13" Sony Wega in Master Bath 1 Lava Lamp for Ambience Fridge full of beer and plenty of Don Julio, Jagermeister and Jim Beam
  11. Thanks all for the good responses and suggestions....I think am I am going to try and get my hands on a used or new KLF-C7 (color doesn't matter, but black would be preferred) Anyone selling one?? Anyway regarding how my rooms and equipment list are set up, I apologize for the confusing equipment list...let me clarify: Great Room: KLF-30's, KLF-C7 and KSP-S6's with 35" Mitsu. 12. Is anyone doing this??? I have just completed my basement HT and have all speakers going except for the rear center (all Klipsch of course!). I am using Chorus II mains, KLF-C7 center, KSP-S6 surrounds, KSW-15 Sub in front and KSW-100 sub in rear. I pre-wired the rear-center location and am looking for a good match to the S6's or am now considering the C7 as an option (thanks for the idea Boa12). Question is, how do I wall mount a C7 or should I build a shelf for it??? Also, can the C7 be mounted veritcal (I) as compared to the conventional horizontal position (-)?? Will the dispersion pattern from the horn now be more up and down (I) instead of across the room (--)?? I have to believe the C7 is designed to be used as a center front in the horizontal position.... Anyone have any ideas, suggestions or first hand experience?? 13. Boa12- Good point, yes I am using C7's as centers in both setups. I think it is best for direct radiating as rear center.... I already have the wire/cable inside the wall, now I just need to drill small hole and pull through and put mounting plate. The only question now is how do I mount a C7 on the wall at 5-6 feet from the floor?? Any suggestions? I am going to post a separate thread for this in the HT section. A c7 would be awesome as a rear center. I guess I could build a small shelf also. I will be posting my entire new HT in my basement soon so keep an eye out in the Klipsch Home theater forum. 21. Well, I am in the final stages of building my basement HT and just got done staining some custom cabinets for all of my audio/video equipment and CD/DVD/VHS storage. I used Minwax Cherry for the first coat and then put Minwax Red Mahogany over it....they look beautiful even before the urethane coats..... TRhe Red Mahogany is too dark when using it alone and the Cherry creates a nice base (IMO). I did numerous test panels on 3/4" Birch. I have decided to strip and redo my Chorus II's (Oak Oil) and KLF-C7 (Oak) to match the cabinets now.....The wife can't stand the retro look of the Oak with the burlap grille cloth on the Chorus II's. So, I need to know what type of stripper should I use to remove the current finish lacquer and any tips or suggestions on how to get these speakers down to bare wood again....knowing that the veneer is probably very thin and minimal sanding is better. Any suggestions on materials and or order of steps would be appreciated. I am comfortable with this job but am looking for some help from fellow Klipsch owners to prevent any dumb mistakes. I have read numerous posts from other refinishers here but thought I should post a new thread just in case. I will post photos of my cabinets for all to see and of my speakers in their current Oak color.
