The tell tale sign is the Cornwall III would have the small mid range horn from Heresy (notice the round cutout on the bottom flange of the mid-horn?), versus the bigger rectangular one on the Cornwall II. The Cornwall I have the horns mounted from behind.

What don't you like on the original "cube" sound?
Neither of these guarantees "better" sound... esp with only 2W, the driver's efficiency will play a big role... as well how well matched it's TS parameter fit this little ported box.ROb

Man I hate how this site cuts off the image! I move out in about a month, if inspection passes on the house.

I'd agree, as the HDMI really isn't that good a connector for that quantity of data transfer.... I would have preferred if it's design relied on more than just friction to keep it in place (similar to the RJ45 clip or the DVI-D screws). Finally I went with the dongle at the moment as my HDMI cable is a 25 - 30' inwall installation... so i'm not up to swap it out now for a dvd player which I'm planning on upgrading to blu-ray in the near future.
Ironically this whole experience has given me additional faith in Oppo (standing behind their products 6yrs later!), and tempted me even more to upgrade for their BDP-93 ... [Y]ROb

I have two IC-800 speakers in my bathroom ceiling for my streaming audio.
Nothing quite like listening to the soft trickling sounds of a mountain stream or perhaps the splashing French garden fountain on Llewellyn's Natural Sounds Gold to "set the mood"... [8-|]

First off, this is what Oppo had sent (reformated) as trouble shooting, for those who are curious…
Improper power conditioning:Try removing the power plug from the player for an hour. Press and hold the POWER button on the front panel of the player for 5 seconds. Release. Reconnect the power.Color Space on the player settings:Turn on the player then go into Setup. Under Video Setup set the Color Space to YCbCr, PC RGB, or Video RGB and see which one produces the proper image.HDMI cable being defective:Replace your current DVI cable to ensure that your errors are not due to a bad DVI cable.Makes sence… and on top of that they mentioned if I’m still experiencing errors, then they offer a fixed price repair (very reasonably priced I may add). I’ll second the claim that Oppo offer great customer service... so much so, I’m temped to go ahead and pull the trigger on a BDP-93… [

Well, I’ve successfully ran this DVD player on my comp monitor for quite a few hours total, without a hitch. Colours are great, straight from the player through the monitors DVI cable. I plugged it all back in the main system and it worked fine!
Argh... funny how that bothered me, as I still didn’t know if it was the cable or dongle finally? So I opted to just let it run a couple of hours... and I eventually I did lose the magentas again. This allowed me to play with the connections with material playing, and surely enough it’s the HDMI end of the dongle connection that is “poor”.
The weight of the cable pushes down enough on the connection and loose proper contact. The DVI end is well screwed in and quite a bit more stable connector.
I’m going to order another dongle and hope it settles the problem. Ironically I’d stopped in my local Bestbuy earlier today to see if it was worth picking one up for testing but they varied in price from 28 - 45$ versus 1/10 that online ! I’ll wait.

Well, I’ve been testing the player on a DVI monitor for about 2.5 hours… and so far so good….
Right now, it does seem connection / cable related... funny how it’s worked flawlessly for over 5 years though, huh? I’m feeling it may be the dongle connectors but I don’t have a spare HDMI cable (my current cable is a 25-30 ft inwall bluejean unit, ironically), nor a spare DVI – HDMI dongle to test...
Any thoughts on testing a HDMI cable other than running another source through it? I’m currently using my HDTV terminal through it, without any visible problems… hence my dongle feeling…

And you are right about Oppos customer service, as I emailed at about the same time I posted on here, and they replied shortly after you... I'll post up their trouble shooting a bit later
One thing you mentioned about bad cables, reminded me that this unit is a DVI player that shipped with a HDMI dongle. I don't own another to switch it out, so I figured I'd plug the player straight to a DVI computer monitor. I only got to run a 15-20min test last night, and I did not loose any of the colours during that period of time. I've got my fingers crossed
I'll continue testing tonight... Perhaps it's the dongle connection... I also wondering about the cable now... Even if my HDTV receiver worked, maybe its got a stronger signal?

I’ve owned an Oppo OPDV971H DVD player since 2005 when I built my home-theatre... and just the other night it started acting up on me.
I was watching a movie, and all of a sudden I start notice some magenta coloured static… until all the magenta in the image totally disappeared. Everything has a strong green tint to it (and I wasn’t watching the matrix [] )… When the screen saver comes, the magenta logo is barely present with just a bit of static where it should be.
I’ve tried resetting it over night, as well as updating the firmware, but the problem persists once the unit has been running 15min or so (actually seemed to take longer than that the first few times, and perhaps its shortened). I’m thinking it may be related to a failing chip or connection that is temperature related? Anyone hear of such a problem and any possible fixes?
I wasn’t in the mood to upgrade just yet… nor being without a player till I get another…

RObPS: I have tested the projector and HDMI cable (the oppo is plugged directly into the projector)... and everything is fine on that end...

Funny... I too remember noticing even in the late 90's that their styrofoam packing had a quality look and feel to it ...

Many of the servers seem oriented to movies rather than music though. I don't want to have to turn on the TV to select music.
Same here... I've already got alot of music on my home NAS (haven't FLAC'ed my CDs yet though)... And was wondering about using a computer monitor hooked up to a secondary HDMI out, and streaming via a bluray player? I'm looking at a new HT processor and wondering how much weight I should put in these secondary HDMI outs... Or simply look at a Squeeze box instead?
Im currently using an old PC and monitor in my HT rack to stream music at the moment...

OT.... but....
I had to downsize my system over the years and settled on La Scala's because I wanted the efficiency without having to have ideal corners (baseboard heating) I have run the DBX 3BX-DS, 5BX-DS dynamic range controllers along with the 120X-DS subharmonic synthesizer and computer controlled DBX 14/10 14-band 2/3 octave equalizer. This help tweak them anyway I desired but I have since parted with all the processing and merely dial the bass contour on my AV pre/pro to +2 and that is all I need. Probably helps that I have Cornwall's and Heresy's in the rear helping out and all my listening is in 7.2 channel mode.
How have you been?... I'm guessing you ended up moving.... ?

Not relevant to any of the suggestions, but just a general comment on the discussion...
I once participated in a blind comparison between 3 random CD players (a Yamaha, Sony, and the Cambridge that I own) on my system and despite the differences not being as "huge" as many seem to describe in the forums, I was able to tell them apart in a A/B comparisons. The Cambridge was "smoother" particularly in the mid to upper frequency range.
That said... if I were in the market today, I'd probably look into a DAC like the Arcam rDAC or Cambridge DACmagic for flexibility of D/A conversion of multiple sources, as well as their quality components.
But that is just me...

I'm not sure which series you are looking for, but over the years, i've seen Radio St-Hubert, Dumoulin, and Fillion carry them... even walked into my Fillion at one point and see Klipschorns (not current model though) hooked up to McIntosh gear!!...

If we are just brainstorming...
There seems to be quite a bit of buzz around the Anthem MRX receivers as a gateway into the ARC system... cheaper than their pre/pro and offers preamp outs... but you'd be forced to get a separate phono preamp.
I'm kinda in the market myself, did look into the MRX and Marantz, but have been putting off making a purchase. When it comes to diminishing returns... I'm generally hesitant to invest a lot in a component that contains rapidly evolving technology ... ie: depreciate quickly...

I got a Maytag with sensor over ten years ago... gets the job done. A friend has a Bosch... it's more quiet, but it's filter has to manually be cleaned out as well as I found the racks hard to load (they seem oriented to quite small dishes and glasses)... but your milage may vary...
I also traded up a model similar to the one StephenM proposed... even though the dishes come out great, requires more input and is noisier....

Not a bad thought, but I still find it hard to believe there is nothing one can just go out and purchase for this purpose.
DIY truck bed liner kits are available from most car parts retailers... for example:

]As far as I know, plastic laminate (formica, arborite, etc...) was never offered from the factory... but Klipsch did encourage it's buyers to finish and customize their own speakers by offering their non-finished decorator series.
Hope you enjoy you Kitsch Klipsch all the same...
Unfortunately for many of these D series speakers... plastic laminate became quite popular in the 1950s all the way into the 1970s... durable and indestructible... it has time to become kitsch long before wearing out...

I thought CL2 was wire rated for in-wall use.
Same here... A fire rated jacket... Although it is true the CL2 wire is in the 'twisted' format to help pull it through walls (pulling a round wire through a round hole is easier than a square one.). Regardless, personally I use it for inwall as well as my speaker cables...
