  1. jzoz, thanks for stating the obvious.
  2. How low does it go in the newer theaters? I went and saw Matrix last night. Very few times I felt the bass, and it didnt go through me. Man, I must have my subwoofer turned up way too loud, compared to how it sounds in my local theater. I never use the rat shack meter on my sub, just set it subjectively. I think my HT has better sound quality, I dont think it gets much better than klipsch for movies at home. Those RF-3 sure were a steal for $800.
  3. Hey Ear, what do u think it will compare to, with performance. How much do u think it will cost. Im moving this month-still looking for something to pickup where my rsw-15 drops off. I will finally have the room for it now.
  4. ROFL. I did that once, while driving my grandmas car. We were exiting the interstate, and her false teeth came loose.
  5. easy, lol, ur nit picking, there are always excetions to the rule. I'm speaking of todays daily driver sports cars, not funny cars and drag racers. With that much HP, skill isnt as helpful. I'm saying in todays sports cars from the srt-4 to the 911 gt2, a MT will own an AT off the line and racing. Yet the AT will be faster(more top end), but this isnt as helpful in what is real racing to me. OK the wrx isnt a rally car, neither is the STI or EVO they are based the rally versions. The rex is more durable then you believe however, people do autocross these cars. If you could expand on what type of transmissions are used in racing today from NASCAR to Form 1 to Cart to Trans to Rally and so on, it would be enlightening.
  6. To TBrennan, about the appeal of cheap cars. Its not just the engine and a low price its the whole package. My girlfriend use to have a Z28 with a 5.7l V8, it was a fast car with lots of torque, but it was a staight line car. It couldnt carry that power through a tough corner, also launching it while making a left or right was tough withour sliding. The STI and the EVO will run with these V8 except over 120 in a straight line. Any cornering and they own the V8s(except a z06), AWD rules in any aspect except over 100-120 in a straight line. It really drops the HP output from the flywheel, since that power has to go to more wheels. I'm talking about reality here, not chosing a car for NASCAR, a daily driver that can still get up an go. I like torque also, but its a compromise on 4 bangers. To easylistener: MT own AT period, if they dont its the driver. Most new large engine cars come with a 6 speed MT or a 4-5 speed AT. One gets more top end with the AT, but who cares about going over 150. My friends that work at the dealership tried to sell me on these new AT which u can shift without a clutch, saying"faster than any human can shift". This might be true if they had the same number of gears as the MT, until then a MT will always post a better time compared to the AT with a skilled driver. Also anyone who claims a WRX, STI or EVO are fast, probally dont have the same definition of fast as most. These are quick great handling cars, not fast as in top end. THese cars can also race offroad. The great thing is, these are rally cars not street racers, but they still smoke most large engine street racing cars.
  7. I may be wrong, since M3's have slowed downed in the quarter over the past 3-4 years and since the s4 is awd(i think). But M3's run below 5 sec from 0-60 and the S4 times i saw were mid 5. But get a 2001 M3. However, that being said awd rules in real world cornering. the ear, yes the evo is a great car, i love it. Its unreal how well that thing handles and launches, considering the price. Nothing like smokin a V8 with a four banger. But the STI is quicker, about 4.8 to 60 is the estimate. Both great cars for the money. I just like the subbys cause they use a boxer engine, its my favorite engine type-ooh the way it feels. The rex and sti use a boxer 4, and the 911's use a boxer 6. Really u cant go wrong with any of these cars. Too bad i just got a ticket going 98 mph.
  8. Never get an automatic in a sports cars, unless you have such difficulty shifting quickly that an automatic will actually decease your 1/4 time. I wouldn't get the Audi anyway, unless its just Audi love. If money is an issue I'd get an subby STI, it will smoke the S4 in all areas except above 100 mph; plus u save over 10000-15000 grand which could be used for mods, which will then own the s4 in every aspect. Of couse, it wont look as fancy to those who dont know cars. If moneys not an issue I'd look into an M3 or a Z06(if 4 door dont matter). The M3 has class, and it will smoke the S4.. For me, just out of principle, performance to price is important, even if money is not an issue. I love to drive
  9. Tks for the responses. I need to audition a sunfire signature. With its size, I could easily fit it into my room.
  10. Hi Guys! I was wondering how these subs stack up against each other. I know that few may have experienced the pb2-plus since they are on pre-order, but it does use 2 plus drivers which many have experienced. How much better is the ultra driver compared to the plus(both similar in price...1 ultra v pb2-plus). Over the weekend I got to hear the sunfire mark IV, I still cant believe how small it is and how well it performs(they didnt have a sunfire signature). My main concern is use with movies, and those sound effects which produce low bass that can be felt. This is a great forum, and i appreciate anyones input.
  11. what the 1/4 and 0-60 time?
  12. Ray I did read your post, you said the CV horn sub is great(i even went looked at it)and that svs and hgs's are crap. Well I could see how the horn loaded sub might be better for outside use with music, but as indoor sub to double for music and home theater...i'd have to hear it. I bet my rsw-15 would do better for indoor use, and I by no means think its the best sub on the planet.
  13. lol...attacking the ear. I'm new at this , but The Ear is one guy i'm sure knows what he's talking about. From him and others at this forum I've picked up some great info. Futher more, I had 2 CV loudspeakers with 15's before I bought my rf-3. The CV's were great for rap and some other songs but as an all around speaker including HT they paled in comparison to my RF-3s. I seriously doubt their subs for home use are better than those you call crap. I would love to have a HGS-18
  14. I noticed this also, and i even saw some verticle lines coming up form the flames right before this happened. Now tell me is that suppose to be there to. Its right after they take the beach and before sarge says "quite a view"... I think.
  15. If I got an eq that would allow me to add more dbs under 30hz, what could i expect out of my rsw-15. Would it help much or is the rsw-15 just too weak. I love the sound of the rsw subs, but would like a little lower extension with power. Initially I purchased a rsw-12 to go with my rf-3 surround system, loved it but wanted more. So I went and auditioned the subs in my price range where i live. I had narrowed it down to the servo-15 and rsw-15. Really couldn't decide between the two, but when i found out the only servo-15 in stock was the floor model I took the rsw-15. Got it home, loved it ever since. Yet, to get enough low end output I had so much volume coming from my 12 and 15, that i had difficulty making out dialogue, so i sold my 12 to a friend. Now I'm wondering what an EQ might do for my quest. p.s.-i thought the servo-15 would just blow the rsw-15 away with its low extension, but I personally didnt find this to be the case. After listening to some dvd action scenes and some music dvds(including my NIN dvd-ah yeah!), I still couldnt make up my mind. Maybe I just dont know what to listen for or maybe they didnt have teh servo set up correctly? Although I did like the sound of the paradigm floorstanding speakers(for music only) better than my rf-3s and the rf-7s they had set up...oh well. Sorry for so much babble, but you guys know much more than I about this stuff...help me plz. ty
