  1. The center is still for sale. The person interested decided to go with a different type. I have also listed these on my local CL site. I was thiking about putting them on ebay as well. Probably for local pickup. I do see other sellers on ebay offering shipping. If I was to consider shipping these, would bringing them to the UPS store be a good idea? I would have no idea how to ship them myself. Does anyone know what the cost of shipping these would be roughly? $100+ maybe? Thanks!
  2. Thanks guys. I just wanted to add that I do not have the original boxes anymore. I often wonder how people ship these without the original boxes? I would be open to shipping them but the shipping cost would probably be extreme unless someone was willing to pay it. If thats an option anyone wants to explore, let me know.
  3. Hey everyone! Its been a while since I have been on the forum (a couple of years). I am thinking about selling my RF-3ii's and my RC-3ii center. I thought I would post here first instead of on my local Craigslist. I know the people on here would appreciate them more. The RF-3's are in excellent condition. I bought them new many years ago. They were stored in their original boxes for a couple years while we were living in a rental house. They have seen very little use over the last few years. I used them for about a year after I first bought them for mainly HT use. I had a sub along with them so they were never really "pushed" .. I recently hooked them up to my HK receiver and MAN do they still sound amazing! I also have the carpet spikes for the feet (never used). Cosmetically they are almost flawless.. I can see a VERY minor scuff mark on the bottom side of one of them. I think it may clean off. There are no scratches at all. The grills are perfect, no broken tabs or rips. They look great. The RC-3 is in very good condition. There is a scratch on the side edge (see pics) other than that it is perfect. Again, the drivers on this have seen very little use and are in perfect condition. I live in Maine and am willing to travel a bit to meet up with someone if needed. I can go to NH and possibly northern Mass as well. I am still trying to get a good idea on the value as I have seen some different prices for these. Of course, I first looked on ebay and have seen the completed listings for around $400 for the pair of RF-3's. Most of them have some issues, mainly broken tabs or rips on the grills. I think the RC-3 might b around $150. I would like to get $450 for the pair of RF-3's and $125 for the RC-3 (due to the small scratch). But let me know if I am off base here, I figured some of you guys could help me out on the value as well.
  4. Im sure I could get them cheap, he seems to really want to get rid of them, I just wish I had a few hundred bucks kicking around... besides, I would then have to explain to the wife why I brought home another set of speakers..[:S]
  5. I was checking on craigslist and came accross someone selling a pair of RF-7's... http://maine.craigslist.org/ele/1603895047.html Can you belive someone would write that about those speakers, especially when they are trying to find a buyer...!!![:^)] Thats like putting an ad in the paper to sell your car and write how it is the biggest POS out there... I just dont get some people!
  6. Hi everyone. I am getting a Yamaha s-1800 dvd player and would like to hook it up so I can try out some SACD's and DVD-A discs. Currently I dont have a sub, I did a couple years ago but had to sell it. And so far my RF3's handle my bass needs pretty well. I dont listen to anything extremely loud and the wife... well, you know. So it sounds to me that the yamaha has some sort of bass management in it but Im not sure the best way to hook it up to my avr. SInce I will not be using a sub, should I still send the signal from the player to the amp on that channel? Im not sure if my receivers bass management works on the analog inputs.. so I dont know how it will process the sub channel from the player. Is it ok to not have a sub with this type of setup? I dont want to hurt my speakers. My mains should handle down to 37hz, but my center and surrounds might not handle it. Does this type of setup send low frequency to all channels? or does that depend on the settings? Thanks!
  7. Just curious... My RS-42 surrounds should be here in a couple days. I have a spool of 14g speaker wire.. Should that be enough or should I go 12g? And when running the wire, is it ok to run both speaker runs together laying on eachother? It looks like I may have to run the wires for both speakers out to one side of the room along the wall to the first speaker, than to the back wall, (6ft) acroos the back wall about 15 ft to where the other surround speaker will be. I am assuming I should keep the wire runs the same length, even thought the second will be almost twice as far in distance...?? Thanks!
  8. Just wanted to chime in here... Ive had my 50" Panny 50px5ou plasma about 5 years now... I paid an arm and a leg for it, (5k) ! It has certainly not been "babied" at all.. plenty of video games, left on all day.... used on a daily basis since day 1. Survived 2 moves (one trip from Florida to Maine in a moving truck)... And Im looking over at it right now and it still takes my breath away! I LOVE it. I really always wanted a 60+" tv, but because of the cost I bought the 50". I still long for a bigger screen but I love this one. I will say I have noticed some "ghosting" once and a while. (not permanent burn in) If something was left on for a while I have noticed the ghost image after, but it always went away by the next day... Most people probably wouldnt even notice though, I can be anal about those things sometimes. My settings havent changed since day1 (actually about day 5 due to 5 days of fiddling with it) I dont think its lost any of its brightness... still looks perfect to me. I would not buy an LED tv.... IMHO plasmas are still the superior display (but lest not turn this into a comparison war) If it broke tomorrow I would not hesitate to buy another plasma again. But I would only buy a Panasonic.. the new ones look nice....
  9. I had suspected they were fairly small, but I cant tell from the pic. I am looking for a fairly inexpensive set of surrounds. I moved into a new house and couldnt take my in ceiling surrounds I had with me. I would like to put a new set on the side walls this time, instead of above my head on the ceiling. The couch is on the back wall so I guess i would be better with a pair of WDST speakers though. Unforetunately, my funds are limited at the moment, so I was looking for something on e-bay that might be cheap but passable until I get some "real" ones. and i refuse to buy anything other than Klipsch. If you got any input on this, i would appreciate it. Thanks
  10. Just wondering if anyone can identify these klipsch speakers.. its an ebay auction? Thanks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250053169849 Are these real klipsch home theater speakers, or are they for a pc setup?
  11. I have found the klipsch have an amazing sound with Harman Karman AVR's. you would be suprised by the difference a good AVR makes. I know how the WAF (wife acceptance factor) can be a hurdle, I am fighting it on a daily basis. Good Luck

Hello all, First would like to say I am relatively new to HT, but have learned alot from all of you here on the Forum. Ive been bitten buy the HT bug (to my wifes dismay) over the past several months have been putting together a Klipsch system. I finally brought home the Sub the other day, so now my 5.1 is complete. I have a few questions regarding operation and settings if some one doesnt mind giving some basic advice. I have the new RW-12 sub, (sounds great by the way) but am unsure about the controls. Can anyone tell me about the phase control and exactly what the purpose of it is? Also it has an Auto on feature that is suppose to power off when there is no signal for a while and power on again when there is a signal, but it seems to power off when im watching a movie or listening to music after about 20 min or so. I have the LFE from the back of the Amp connected to the single LFE on the sub. It does have another input for 2 plugs, (which my cable does have). whats the opinion on speaker settings? Do people favor all set to small or a combination? Also crossover freq on the amp I can set it a couple of diff ways. Last thing, I did notice that listening to a DTS soundtrack and a DD track, I get much more bass from the sub on DD. Is this common on DTS tracks to have much lower Bass? (when I say lower I mean very little bass on DTS compared to DD) Please forgive my lack of knowledge about the Subs ,this is the first one I have had. Thanks again for all the help.
  13. Fire, Thanks for the help. As far as cylinder style subs go, is it possible to place two drivers in a cylinder? and what positions would they have to be in? Wouldnt that increase total performance? I ask this because I am limited on floor space, if I could use 2 10in in a single cylinder it would probably fit where I want to put it. I only have one place I can put the sub and it is in a corner next to my L/F main but I only have about 12 inches or so wide between the main and the wall. I originally wanted to go with an SVS but the 16in footprint is just a bit to big. Thanks for the advice. Also I showed the wife the pics of the SVS subs and you could probably guess her reaction... "Its how big?????"
  14. Hey guys, Just looking for some advice on DIY subs, ,especially sonotube subs. I am interested in this design but I have some size constraints. Do they have to be so large to produce quality low freq. sound? Would it be possible to go with a 10in driver, and how do you determine the length of tube? is there any difference in going with short and wide as apposed to tall and thin?? Thanks for putting up with all my dumb questions, I am new to HT but am learning a tremendous amount just by reading this forum everyday. Thanks
  15. I just installed a pair of RCR-5 in ceiling speakers for my surrounds. They are right above the couch because my couch is up against the back wall. they sound good, but I am wondering if anyone else out there has experimented with these speakers? they have an aimable 1" tweeter. just wondering what other peoples preferences are, and if they noticed a dramatic change by aiming the tweeters at the listening position or in other directions. unfortunately my room is not quite the ideal room, but than again whos is?? Thanks, Dave
  16. me again. here is a floorplan of the house(if it uploads and is veiwable) the room in question is the li ing room on the upper left of the house. (in the back of the house) looking down on the picture the couch will be placed on the left side and the entertainment enter across on the wall next to the bedroom door. any suggestions on a rear center speaker? should another RS-3 beused to match the surrounds? thanks again.
  17. sorry, I just realized a mistale. I will be using the RS-3 surround speakers not the RC-3 speakers. The problem I have is that the house is sort of an open floor plan and the room where the HT system is going only has three walls. There is no wall to the right (when sitting on the couch) just behind, left and front. so I dont have much choice of placement. Has anyone had experience with mounting the RS-3's on the ceiling? pointing down? The idea of mounting the RS-3's vertical and angling in sounds like it may give me more sound dispersion down towards the listening position. another concern will be that the left surround will have a wall for the sound to bounce off of to the left of it, but there is no wall for the right speaker to bounce of of. Does anyone have this type of setup? and if so how does it sound?? This is my first venture into HT so maybe im being to picky, but i just want to make sure it sounds as good as it possibly can. Thanks for the advice.
  18. Hello audiophilites. I am having a house built and am planning a 5.1 or possibly 6.1 HT system. my concern is with the rear speaker placement. The room is about 15x15 and the couch will have to be against the rear wall. I will be using Rc-3's. I was planning on placing them about 7 ft from the floor on the back wall. I cannot place them on the sides in this room. will the sound be compromised too much . or will angling them down slightly make up for this. Any insight or opinions would be appreciated. Just thoght Id add that this room has 3 walls, there is no right wall as it opens to the kitchen area.
  19. Hello people. First post for me, I just discovered this forum. Awesome! Is there anyone planning on getting one of the new SVS box subs? PB1-ISD? I have been considering the One of the Pci subs but was unsure about the tall cylinder for asthetic reaasons. Is this the answer??? Seems to go down to 22Hz which is ok for me, I am abou 99% movies so I think it may suffice. Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on this one.
