  1. I just moved to a new place and my room is quite tiny. Due to the lack of space, I am trying to conserve at all costs. Is it detrimental to place a receiver directly on top of a subwoofer? I just wanted to be sure this wouldn't be a problem with all the vibrations and such. Thanks.
  2. I've owned a pair of F-3's for a few months now, and finally decided to upgrade with a SUB-12. The receiver is set to 2 channel audio, and I set the front speakers on the receiver to Small, with a crossover at 80. I'm getting plenty of bass from the subwoofer, but it appears that my mains are still putting out the same amount of bass. I have a pair of RF-3II's at a different house, and recall being able to hear a difference in low end output when changing the speakers from Large to Small. However, with the F-3's, if I turn the subwoofer off and change them from Large to Small, I'm hearing the same amount of bass and seeing the same movement from the woofers, even on songs with a lot of low end. Is this normal? One of the main reasons I purchased a subwoofer is so I could enjoy music at higher volumes without pushing my receiver or mains as much, and it appears that at this point it is not accomplishing that. Any help would be appreciated - thanks.
  3. I've owned a Denon AVR-2802 for a few months now, and just this morning noticed 5 fine red lines traveling horizontally across the display screen on the unit. Everything is still working fine, but the only thing I can think about is the terrible problem with lines on Game Boy and other small screens. Have these lines been here all the time; are they normal? Or is this a sign that the screen is already on the downfall? Thanks.
  4. Hey guys! I just dragged home a new pair of RF-3s. I have yet to break them in, but so far I love them! I just have one small problem. Whenever the receiver (Denon 2802) is on, there is a slight hissing coming from the horns. It's only noticable if you get right up next to the speaker, like 3-5 inches. I noticed this when there was no media playing. Is this normal? Could it be because the speaker wire is close to the power cord? Any help would be appreciated! Also, it appears that directly in front of the speakers there's a lack of bass compared to either side and behind; is this just because the speaker is ported, or will the low end get a bit better as the speaker breaks in? Thank so much!
  5. Hey guys! So I've finally gotten my 2 channel audio setup kind of working. My newest problem is this: my DVD player (Pioneer 656-A) can only access the "Random" function and the ability to switch folders while playing MP3s via a TV. My original idea did not include a TV, but in order to achieve the folder switching ability I'd consider adding one in. So I went on a search through my basement, and came up with an unused but very old TV. This would work fine, however it only has an antenna input! Is there any way I can get the signal from my receiver over to this antenna input on the TV? Thanks so much!
  6. Thanks Dougdrake! Yes, I suppose 2 sets of stereo is what I'm looking at. I have the option of "6 channel stereo" on my receiver - is this what I'm looking for? Would this also output a signal to a subwoofer? Thanks!
  7. Can anyone help me out here? Looking at maybe purchasing soon. Thanks.
  8. I received a pair of SB-3s a week ago. One defective woofer. Just received a Pioneer DV-656a. Won't detect any CDs. What wonderful luck I'm getting these days. Anyone make me feel better by posting their horror stories?
  9. Hi guys! I currently own a pair of Klipsch SB-3s. I have only really had the opportunity to enjoy them for about an hour thus far. I do feel, however, that for a room the size that I'm looking at I may need more oomph. A subwoofer will be in order for the future, no doubt. But how would it sound if I moved the SB-3s to the rear and put some RF-3IIs up front? A subwoofer would be installed in the near future after that. This setup will be used 100% for audio. Also, one more question regarding four channel audio: would I just set the receiver to "stereo" still? Or would I have to run it in Dolby Digital? And would this decrease the volume at all? I have a friend that uses his setup for both movies and video, although he only has two speakers. When he goes from "stereo" to "dolby surround", the volume decreases. Thanks for the help guys!
  10. Hey guys! Alright, so I ordered a pair of SB-3s a week or so back. These speakers were only run for about an hour at modest levels. On some frequencies, not all, one of the woofers was rattling, so I e-mailed the company that sent them to me. They *say* they're going to send me a replacement, but I've heard some bad things about their customer support. They are not an authorized Klipsch dealer, which I found out after I had bought the speakers. Anyways, per the company's instructions, I removed the woofer. I kinda did my own little snooping around with it, and found that when I push on the cone, it seems to make a scraping noise. I can't really tell where it's coming from, but if I push on the cone from the other speaker, there is no scraping noise. So it would seem to me that this could be the problem. There's nothing physically on the cone or touching it; nothing rubbing up against it that I can see. Any ideas as to why this would be "scraping" something? Any potential fix so I can get around this company in case they attempt to shaft me? Thanks guys!
  11. Will a Denon 2802 be able to provide ample power for a pair of Klipsch RF3II's? They're rated at 150 watts continuous, and the Denon puts out 90 watts to all channels. Just trying to make sure this won't pose any problems. Thank you!
  12. Trey Cannon - Thank you for the offer! I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do as of right now. I've told the company that sold me the speaker about what happened, but have yet to hear a response. Seeing as they told me to remove the woofer, I'm assuming nothing will happen with the warranty. So I'm probably going to see what they say first. If they tell me to fix it myself, I'd have two options. One is to pick up the terminal, but I'm not quite sure how to get it off. Just pull real hard? Or cut the wire at the base? Also, would it be a major problem to just strip it and tie it? I know it wouldn't look that great, but noone's going to see the inside anyways. Thanks fellas.
  13. Alright, so I received a defective woofer in my new SB-3's. I was told to remove the woofer and return it, and a new one would be shipped to me. However, those clips were near impossible to remove from the woofer! In the process or removing the negative wire, the clip attached to the wire broke in half. What can I do to connect the wire to the new woofer? I'd really rather not strip it and just tie it. Thanks for any suggestions.
