  1. Onkyo's new line of remote controls is one of the most idiotic things I've ever encountered in home audio. The control for the 797 is bulky, unresponsive, and functionless: I hate it. I used to like the old style remote controls, where its small and the IR infrared is very responsive, unlike its new sibling. As for the current power, I felt as though the new ONKYO lines weren't that powerful. I used to own the onkyo receiver (stereo), where the current was very strong and clean. Just my two cents.... Denon's the way to go ....I'll look into other brands like Rotel, etc. when money is not a problem for me
  2. I went to circuit city the other day, and saw that they had these Monster cables, very very thick. In fact, it was the thickest there. I wonder what gauge was that.... Anyway, I'm looking foward to do a minor upgrade from home depot speaker cable to hopefully Monster 12 or 14 gauge. I don't know if I should step up to the M's series....
  3. I got lucky: I sold my 797 for 700, whew. Onkyo is allright, but I should've step up to its cousin: integra. However, after trying DENON, I just fall in love with them, and will go for the upgrade 4802 or 5803 as soon as some money is save up. Hence, that would mean bye bye to the current 3802 . The home theater's irony...
  4. Denon 3802 ; looking foward to upgrade to 4802 when the 4803 comes out , hence the 4802 will reduce.
  5. Anyone know when the 4803's coming? I'm looking foward to the upgrade from 3802. This release will drastically cut the cost of the 4802s' as well.
  6. Excellent, I'm enjoying my week at home at lot more than usual, must be the speakers. =). I'll just forget bi-wiring the center for now, that cable is the thickest cable I've ever seen. BTW, do you use Treble and Bass on your HT? Or do you leave it at nuetral? Your speakers sound awesome at nuetral, but I used to put the bass / treble at mid. Let me know your opinion. Legend
  7. Got the cable Scott, thanks! I got question though: I am currently bi-wiring the center, though if I am to use this cable, I can't bi-wire. Is that still sound good. This baby is thick and heavy!
  8. Sure, much appreciate it Scott. Now I can replace the 18' home depot wire . My home address is : 82 Alden st. Malden, MA 02148. I'll be home this weekend. Yours RF-3 II are awesome. Its too bad I couldn't stay at home long to listen to it, but I guess an hour of just sitting there is enough for today. . It defintely beats the POLK RT800i, however, can't really decide if I should set it to LARGE or SMALL : LARGE HAS extra bass but sound is unclear, while small is clearer , but I'll c. Thanks always, even from first RSW10. Regards, Legend (a.k.a Ralph)
  9. Glad the speakers suit you.
  10. I was turning the denon 1600 on today, and it wouldn't response to any command. A few second later, it pops up F893 ( I think it this #, didn't wrote down). Weird. After I unhook everything, hook back in, the whole thing works again. Anyone knows what's up?
  11. Scott, check your email . Yes, Reference in general. I did try to take the grilles off the center RC-3, and the sound seems to be clearer ( may be my mind playing tricks...). I dono.....
  12. I noticed Klipsch's grilles have a lot of plastic moddings , unlike my previous Polk's grilles, where the plastics are only at the corners, instead of in front of the drivers. Does this effect the performance? I agree the gilles feel and look like a higher quality kind, but does this have a drawback ? Anyone did a test w/ and w/out them on the speakers?
  13. I heard the 3803 has problem with video switching, or something related to a that matter. I heard Denon will provide a fix to this, as long as you bought it from an authorized dealer. As for 3803 and 3802, not much different, but you can get the 3802 for around 600 at tweeter nowadays, if they happen to have them.
  14. I'd personally dislike any product that's made in china, no offense. Its just I've had many problems with products I owned made in china. The quality is just not there. As for denon, the "majority" of their products are made in JAPAN. I own the denon 3802, upgrade from ONKYO 797, great difference. You can buy a open box 3802 at tweeter with full warranty for around 600 now. I love my denon, I plan to buy 5802 or 5803 when I have money. Btw, ONKYO's products are made both Japan and Malaysia. Japan- higher ends, malaysia =mid price.
  15. Reason I asked is because in the corner, I have stuffs that block the sub. Therefore, only alternative is as pictured. Will this position "cancel" anything out, or do damgages to bass? Or it is fine.
  16. HI all, I got the question regarding this post. My future sub will sit as pictured in the attachment "layout.JPG". Is this a good idea? It is basically facing the towers' side, instead of straight with the towers. RF3 II Planning to get sub: RSW10 BTW, mind the crappy drawings.
  17. I should be fine w/ mapquest. If I do get lost on the way there, I'll give ya a call. Thanks
  18. Thanks for all the great advices! I got the RSW10 off a friend, for 500. Its about 4 months old, used little. Is this a good deal? I haven't tested it because I'm getting it later this week. He still has papers and the box with it.
  19. Thanks for the advice. But can someone tell me how to break in the RF-3 ? I am mostly concern with the Rf-3 and Rc-3, as to what I should do when I first turn them on.
  20. Hi all, I just upgraded my home theater speakers from POLKAUDIO to Klipsch. I tested the Klipsch at Tweeter, and oh man, what difference they sound from POLK. I will never go back to POLK again. Anyway, I need your advice on breaking in the Reference 3 series 2 towers, along with the RC-3 and RSW10 as well. I have no idea what should I do to make these speakers last and sound the best. Please give me your advice. Thanks
