  1. I've dismantled my 7.1, reducing the rear centers to 1 that isn't hooked-up yet. I'm in no hurry to do so, since 5.1 is what everything I play is recorded for. 7.1 was a waste to me. Using Heratige all around, I don't forsee 7.1 again until the format gets some recordings out.

  2. I've spent hundreds of hours enjoying Eric Clapton, believing that he has spirit-and-soul rock & roll. His blues is heartful & from the depths of human loss & hopefulness, in spite of it. I'm sorry if this isn't other's experience, but for me, it is.

  3. Dean made some comments that I think are universal to Khorn users. I agree that soundstage, imaging, & other typical speaker considerations deminish at the sound of a well-cornered pair. It's not that descriminating descriptions can't be made, so much as it is, why talk when you can listen. Nothing is as important as what is at the time; what isn't isn't important while they are playing. Listening does become an emotionally attaching sensation. I also agree that listening position is less critical, even though it is obvious when I sit in the sweetest spot. They sound great all over the house (and yard, if you want them to). My sweet spot is only about nine feet from the plane of the horns. Great post, Dean. Ditto.

  4. Well, you certainly want the sound to pass by you when you are in the listening position, or you won't hear it. Get the RS7s and put them on stands, at or about ear level, and on a plane with the listeners (out from each end of the couch). Do not put them on the wall behind you. Your HT speakers should make you happy for many years, and probably in more than one home.

  5. Kelly,

In the Vintage Scott Equipment thread, Ryan expressed an opinion about the 299A & or B being too bright for his taste. With his vast experience with Scott gear, I have a great respect for his opinion, & believe he intends brightness to mean in relation to other Scott units, & perhaps other tube gear. He went on to say that many others agree with him. I wouldn't be surprised that others shared Ryan's opinion, but Craig took exception to the statement, & asked who these many people are. Craig then replied that he gets good feedback from his 299A & B customers. Guy then posted that Craig was probably not getting truthful feedback. So I think Craig is asking for feedback on the brightness of the A & B, & I don't think he really intended to get it just from his customers. Indeed, one poster wasn't a customer of his, & Craig was glad to get the response. There is some good info resulting from this, & if we keep it civil, there will be more.
