  1. I realize the subject line sounds stupid, but must ask. I recently put a 1"x1" inch hole in the back on one of the passive radiators on one of my Forte II's. The passive radiator is still in the speaker, I have been listening to it and can't hear any sound difference at all. Have had friends over and turned up, they just sound great. I show them the damage after wards and they can't believe it. Neither can I, I expect a lack of bass, distortion, something. I'd like to add, there is a little air coming out of this hole. Currently listening to Marcus Miller, a great bass riff, can't believe how great it sounds. Could I have another problem with these radiators, not working properly, or does this sound logical? Thanks in advance to anyone that replies. Thank you.
  2. The other day I was putting a new window in my living room. While nailing the trim on, my cd case on the wall dumped about 50 cd's to the floor. Three of these landed on the back my one of my speakers, into the passive radiator. These speakers were mint. I am over it now, well kind of. I did do a search out here and see several questions, but no real answers. Before I replace, I wanted to ask if any other user out here have replaced theirs? If so, did they buy a replacement from Klipsch, seems a little pricey. Have it reconed, or replace with something like a :Dayton DVC385-PR 15" DVC Series Passive Radiator I see a post on the web that this person states: It is an improvement over the "OEM" both in performance and appearance. I was also thinking of contacting SimplySpeakers, or a last resort searching Ebay for a used one. If I replace, would be nice to get any improvements that are out there. I would also like to add, even with this large hole in the speaker, it still sounds great. I am not listening to vinyl, but these passive radiators barely move. Thank you very much in advance for anyone that offers any information or suggestions.
  3. Thank for your reply Lee. I figured it was gone. Yeah, been on the seacoast for the last 20 years. Love it here. Best of luck with the new house. Thanks again.
  4. It's been many months, I just came across you post. I know the answer, but thought I would ask anyway... Is the C7 sold? I too live on the seacoast. Thanks!
  5. I have been thinking about purchasing a KLF C7 for years. By what I am seeing I wish I had done years ago. I see one on Ebay for $499.00. No bids on it. I am in search of one Medium Oak in mint condition. Does anyone know what a good realistic price would be? I sure would appreciate it. My front channel consists of 2 KLH 30's. If I can't find a C7, would it make sense (sound ok) to buy one of the new RC7 center channels? Any suggestions sure be appreciated. Thanks to all that reply in advance.
  6. I have it out already. I've take all the drivers out in the past to reglue the back of the cabinet. I will call tomorrow. Thanks very much for the info.
  7. Well the last 6 years they we powered my a 255 wpc ss amp. It sounded great. People would come over and claim they never heard anything like it. I since upgraded to 400/500 wpc. I also bought a Harman Kardon AVR 630. So, I put the 30's as my front channel for my surround sound. Kind of retired them from the 2 channel system. I never turned the volume higher than -20 on the HK. I really don't understand it?? I have had to reglue the back cabinet on one of them twice, but no problem with the drivers. This driver, looks as if on steroids!!
  8. Well after 6 great years with my KLF-30's I seem to have a blown driver. I noticed last night, cracking during explosions while watching the Matrix Reloaded. I thought the worst, sure enough I cranked up some music with some heavy bass this am, took the cover off and one of my drivers is puffed out. I took out of the cabinet and I see the paper that should be glued to the top of the magnet has unglued as well. I am thinking another one in the other speaker is starting to go bad. I hear a little bit of cracking from it. I will call the parts dept. tomorrow, but wanted to ask if these drivers are still available? If so, dare I ask the cost? If not, can have reconed? I have spend over 5 grand in the past couple of months on upgrades. Am thinking I should of kept the systems I had I have been having nothing but problems since. That's another story I guess. Thanks for any info !!
  9. I guess I should explain my question better. I love the KLF 30s! I have moved from my 2 channel system to my HT system. I am amazed how great they sound there. I have no need for a sub in my HT. With the 30s in the front and Forte IIs for surrounds. The room shakes. It is truly beautiful. I now need to replace the 30s in my 2 channel system. My question is what would you recommend as an upgrade to the KLF 30s there. I have never horn any of the other speakers in the Heritage line. So I have no clue. With the exception I like it to be a pair of Klispch. I listen to rock. Usually louder than I should. I have a SS amp. tube preamp and tube cd player. I have more WPC than necessary. I also use an inefficient pair of 4 ohm speakers occasionally if I listen to the real mellow stuff. Any replies sure be appreciated!!
  10. I just upgraded my power amp. Having some problems there, so moved my KLF 30's into my den. Had a set of Forte II's previously in front channel, now rear channels. In any case, what a system I have. I watched the Matrix reloaded last night and the room shock, I think the whole house shock. I have been on a spending spree and recently bought a new HT receiver, but I didn't know what I had in the house. Needless to say. I am thinking these speakers are staying in the den. My question. I have enjoyed my KLF 30's for 6 years now. I have a tube preamp Audio Research SP9 MKII with some great tubes in it. I just had $2000.00 worth of upgrade done to my power amp. I have more than enough power these days. I also have a tube cd player. I must add that I like often listen to near concert level volumes. I just can't help it, if it sounds good.... Enough of that. My question is if I look to upgrade from the KLF30s, I would like a similar speaker. Something as efficient, but with a bit more bass if possible? All suggestions sure be appreciated and "thanks" to all that reply in advance.
  11. I too use Hafler amps with KLF 30's. Used to run a DH500, upgraded to an XL-600. In fact, I am having $2000.00 worth of mods done to the 600 now. I must admit I run a tube cd player and a tube preamp, with some real nice tubes. They sound is truely awesum!!
  12. I have been out looking for a surround receiver. I have a pair of for my forte II's for front channel and some various brands through the rest of the system. I have a 2 channel system, so I am just looking for a nice surround receiver with lots of the newest features. In any case, I saw the B&K 507. I wanted one, but reality set in. I see the new line from H/K. Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions/info on these receivers? The store that had them didn't sell any Klipsch speakers. So I didn't even audition. I was also curious if the 630 was worth the extra money compared to the 430. By the way, I came close to the Yamaha rxv1400, but the sales people seem to work way to hard to sell these. Thanks for any replies in advance!!
  13. I hear these are so cheap because they go against all the HK stoof for. None of the dealers wanted any part of them. From what I was told you can only get these of the net. Hope this helps.
  14. Does anyone run their KLF 30's bi amped? If so, are you happy in doing so? I am not really sure how to do this, but currently run a Hafler Xl600. I have a Hafler DH-500 collecting dust these days. I was going to use the DH500 for my surround system, but thought maybe check out if I should bi-amp by current stereo system. Does anyone know what is involved in bi-amping? I should probably add I have a Audio Research SP9 MKII preamp. Thanks to all that reply.
