  1. Sold.....to me! Dustin is a great guy and has gone out of his way to make me happy. To quote Ren (from Ren and Stimpy) "He is one of the good ones". Now will somebody please buy my C-Horn so I can pay for these?!! John
  2. The planned LF section never got past the planning stage. Found a single Belle and that was that (makes a perfect center between K-Horns). And yes I will ship at buyer's expense. Probably around $50 in the conus. Thanks for the question!
  3. Without his permission I can't really say (ain't he amazing!). But I can say he's "U. P." there.
  4. Lightly used and in exceptional condition. One grill mounting peg is sheared off, but the grill stays on just fine with the other three. Corners are still sharp and grill looks like new. Conservatively rated as an "8" but again, it looks like it's brand new. Never an issue with the light use I've given it, a very musical sub. Outstanding choice to supplement a pair of horn loaded single driver speakers driven by a pair of S.E.T. tube amps (which is what I've used it for). Might be a tad small for HT use but for a normal-size room I'd give it a go. Cabinet size is 14 1/2 x 15 x 12 1/2" high. It has all the controls you expect, freq cutoff, volume, phase, etc. Don't know the exact amplifier rating but I bet it's on Google (everything else is). Selling to finance the building of a folded-horn sub. One of Bill Fitzmaurice's designs for my HT. I also have an interesting home-brew Klipsch center channel speaker up for sale, check it out! Price ($200.00) is slightly negotiable (especially for my fellow Klipschonauts). I'll try to keep shipping as low as possible but expect at least $25-30 in the conus. Will be listed on e-prey as well so let me know soon if you want it! Thanks for reading! John
  5. Hi there, John again in Tennessee. I have an interesting "one-off" I need to find a new home for. I have a great home theater with Klipschorn's as fronts, Cornwalls as surrounds, and up to now I have tried many different speakers as a center. For the longest time I had a pair of Heresy's wired in parallel but they didn't really sound right either. Long story short, nothing really jelled with the K-Horn's and while this was going on my buddy in Michigan undertook building me a dedicated center channel speaker utilizing matching components to the K-Horn's. The center (or "top) was completed early last year and shipped down to me. I lost the bet about it being able to suffice without a bass cabinet. It was unuseable as you can imagine with just mid and tweet - even for vocals. But if you connect a LF driver in the mix it sounds awesome! So Matt (my best friend) was working toward building me a matching bass module and then I discovered a beautiful single Belle within driving distance (Hi Mick!). So I now have the perfect center between the big guys and I'm very happy. Though it pains me to do so, I am putting the "C-Horn" up for sale. It has all new components with the exception of the lightly used K-55M. A brand new AL-3 crossover was purchased from Crites last year for it and the K-77M, and K-401 are new as well. The cabinet is strikingly beautiful (notice the attention to detail) and matched to my K-Horn's perfectly (see pics). The measurements are 24 x 24 x 9 3/4" high. It's quite heavy as you can imagine and works perfectly, I just can no longer use it since I bought the Belle for center use, I thought about making it a rear "7th" channel but my rooms too small. The speaker works fine and when combined with a bass cab it will make a perfect center for somebody else, perhaps as a dedicated center to a pair of Belles, LaScala's, Corns, or a set of Klipschorns as I intended to do with it. This is your chance to own a gorgeous mini-center - all you have to do is build a matching La Scala style bass module. Or one possible option might be to buy a matching Klipsch 12" woofer and mount it in a basic "box" and hide it out of sight. Then the C-Horn could be mounted underneath your big-screen like most center channels are. The woofer would supply the missing low frequencies and it would sound fantastic! I have quite a bit invested in it up to this point what with all new parts, materials, and of course I paid Matt for his time (not enough I'm afraid). I would like to ask $350 for it to my fellow forum members and at that I will lose some money. Offering it here first but it will go on e-bay pretty soon so give me a shout if you think you would like it. Thanks! John
  6. Thanks for the advice everybody! You've given me some ideas. BTW, Bruce - You aren't too far from me. Ever get up to Tennessee? I am in South Pittsburg.
  7. You guys have been most helpful in my HT quest so far...now I have a new question: Anybody have a favorite device (bracket, purpose made hanger) to mount Heresy's either high on a wall or from the ceiling? Or both? I'm absolutely sure it's been done. And I don't mind drilling some holes in the back or even in the tops. My HT room doesn't have the width to have such large speakers in the proper side positions. But I have read (and seen at the movies) that surrounds should be directly to the side of the seated position and above the ears. Just thought somebody might throw me a link... Thanks in advance!
  8. There aren't two systems. Just a pair of K-Horns in the front and a planned future "C-Horn" in the middle. As I mentioned before I have separate amplification for the center and the mains. So if I'm using the system as a stereo system (2 speakers) I just won't turn on the center channel amp / pre (or the rear channel amp / pre for that matter). In a 5.1 system the center channel is primarily for vocals, right? Seems like a lot of speaker (La Scalla, Belle) in the center to reproduce voices to me. As to having a center for regular music listening, I don't understand the appeal of having a third full-range speaker in the middle of a stereo pair when your playing back 2-channel music. Seems like it would muddy up the live left and right stereo signal and work against the recording engineers purpose. But - my buddy in Michigan has a Belle between his Klipschorn's and thinks it's great. Maybe I should try it. In any event the AL-3 crossover Crites is building me will allow for future use of a bass cabinet. So if I'm wrong (won't be the first time) I can add the bass cab underneath and make it a mini Belle / La Scala "wannabe". John
  9. Hey, thanks for the advice! I receive the speakers tomorrow, here's the e-Bay auction I found them at. They are located only 20 miles away which is good (the seller made me a deal to avoud packing and shipping)- I wouldn't want to pay shipping for those beasts! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2511829244&category=23794 Any advice now that you have seen them? I got them for $550.00 including delivery, so if the tweeters can be fixed for about $100.00 I feel pretty good about the deal. Neat idea separating the cabs like that. They are supposed to sound REALLY good..... Thanks again, John
  10. Hi, just acquired a pair of home-made La Scala's! But the tweeters aren't working, anybody have a used but nice pair of K-77's (I believe) to sell? John in Orlando
