  1. Well i guess i need to take it to the shop, i'm new this area and i don't know whats around here that could help me. Well it seems the consesus is that i have a power supply problem. We moved into a brand new house that had just been built and as far as i know all the wiring is up to code. But either way i'd need an idea of cost. To be honest the receiver was a gift and i know how much it cost the person who gave me my system and it would mean more to me to get it fixed than just buy a new or used one. Is there anything I can do? I'll bet the warranty has run out already and even if it's not if i try to open it myself i can say "good-bye" to it. Well thank you everyone for your help, although i'm still not sure whats wrong. I'm sure y'all know how frustrated i am. Thanks again, and keep coming with the ideas.
  2. Yeah i tried that but it may have just been a loose plug, i moved out of that house maybe i should try again. Well i just tried it again and i'm afraid it didn't work. It stayed on a bit longer though, but maybe that was just my preception. Thank you anyway, it was good idea, but it didn't work. Keep up with the good ideas people.
  3. Hey everybody! Well i didn't know where to put this so i went with general. Anyway i have an Onkyo SR-502 and i'm having a bit of difficulty with it. I've had it awhile and has served me VERY well. Music has always been my escape. I went out of town recently and when i returned home i tried to pick up where i left off, but no. I pressed the power button and it flashed on for like half a second and shut off immediately and the stand-by light came on. I checked to see that everything was plugged in properly. I don't know if this was the right thing to do, so please don't throw milk shakes at me, i kept pressing the on button untill finaly it came on, but the sound that came out was horrificly terrible and it was overly loud, so i went to adjust the volume and as soon as the knob was touched the receiver shut off again. While i was out of town some work was done to the house and i was told they messed with the breaker box. A friend of mine thinks that a fuse has blown, but i don't know jack about these kinds of things or how to fix them. What is going on with my reciever? Can this problem be fixed? If so how? How much will it cost me? If anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it? Thank you in advance everyone.[*]
  4. Hello from your friendly female audiophile. How is everybody doing? I'm doing a research paper on why bose sucks. I have a couple of quck questions. I would like to know A)When its trated paper for woofers, what do they treat it with? And similarly, B)When its treated foam for surrounds, what is it treated with. I know there are products one can buy to treat the fom but i would like to know what they use commercially. I want to be as specific as possible. I cant say "some companies treat their foam with something to make it a little more durable." I'm sure both the teacher and i would like to know what the "something" is. If someone could help me i'd be extremely grateful. Thank you in advance.
  5. It is true though that any fat consumed first thing in the morning usually will not get stored in the body but will be burned as NRG instead.
  6. Hello again from a friendly female audophile. I was wondering if i'm the only one who does this. I was playing Kingdom Hearts, well i was going to but in the mean time i was listening to the title screen song and if you wait a bit this other song and some visuals play. Very instrumental and very dynamic. After it was over i thought i had never heard something so beautiful come out of my speakers, so much so i found myself crying in wondering awe. It was like realiseing at that moment that thats all i really wanted from my speakers, was clean sound that makes my heart soar and they gave it to me. I don't know if anybody else has had an expirience like this. I tried to share the expirience with one of my brothers by having him listen to the song, but all he had to say afterward was "Its loud." I felt like doing a Homer Simpson and reach out and start choking him, but i figured he probably said that because he doesn't get it. He doesn't understand that better speakers make your music sound better. Anyway i digress. Has anyone here felt this way? Thanx In advance.
  7. Hello again from your friendly female audiophile. I have a question about, i don't know if you'd call it lingo, a term i've been hearing and reading and i have no idea what it means i figured maybe somebody could help me at the forum. So here it goes. The term is DAC. What is it? What does DAC stand for? And what does a DAC do? I like to learn audio lingo and i am still learning words, but i don't mean to sound stupid or simple minded i'm just continuing to learn. If you guys and gals could help me out that would be great. Thanx in advance.
  8. I dunno if this counts, but I work as a civilian on an air force base at the golf course in Delawae. My dad retired after 26 years in the air force and my mother is now working as civilian. We moved alot, so I have an idea what its like. CD
  9. Hello again. Thank you all for your kind words, its good to know that there is always a helping hand when i need it. I know i can always ask my cosin but sometimes, no offence to him, if i hear it from at least two people it seems more reliable. Well i have'nt had much time to fiddle with my system yet, you see i was on a trip to see my cousin and while i was away my filter for my aquarium started leaking pretty bad, i know this because my dad called from home, quite miffed i might add, so i told him how to shut the filter off and my fish tank did'nt recieve filtation for 4 days and when i got home the water was sooo filthy i could hardly see my fish. So since then i've been dealing with my filter not my system but of course i know i have the forum to help me out. Good news my Dad likes the system, he says it works pretty good with Doom 3, some enemies make noise, if you listen, like growling and what not to let the player know that they are there. Anyway i won't make this too long. Talk to you guys and gals later.
  10. I am pleased to announce that i have recieved my first Klipsch speakers ever. I have never owned any Klipsch speakers before, but for Christmas my cousin, cdsang, bought me a pair of Klipsch RB-35s and an Onkyo TX-SR502,and I LOVE THEM!!! Before my cousin gave me a Logitec computer system, hey it was better than that boombox i can tell you that much. After i figured out what he got me for Christmas i decided after i got my new system i could hook up the Logitecs up to the computer. Soon Christmas came and Lo and behold my Dad got Doom 3 (ack!) I told him my intentions and in his words "I don't think that will be necessary." I said "Don't you want to enhance your gameing expirience?" He just sort of walked away. I hooked it up anyway last night i hope he won't be mad he might just change his mind, what with 2 surrounds, a center and sub,if you can call it that, any way i'll keep everyone posted.
  11. Hey everybody. I just wanted to wish all you guys and gals a very Merry Klipschmas, i mean Christmas and a Hersey new year, i mean Happy new year. Just remember this holiday season, when all the presents and Christmas dinner Aragon its time with your family that matters. So blast your Christmas music for all to hear and have yourselves a Merry Klipschmas and a Hersey new year. I have'nt forgotten those who don't celebrate Christmas. To those people i say Happy Hanukah, i hope i spelled that right. I don't know when Kwanzaa is but if you celebrate it have a happy one. Happy Holidays.
  12. I recently recieved a catlog in the mail, not a speaker catalog i should mention, and on the inside cover there was this system from JVC, not the best i know. The thing about theese that the catalog seems to take pride in is that the cones are made out of wood, birch wood they mention, but also the cabinents are made out of wood in the picture provided to me i can't see many details like what th surrounds are made of. I don't know if any of you guys or gals have heard speakers where the cones are made out of wood. If so could you tell what it sounded like, i'm curious because its a different material than whats usually used. Thank you in advance.

  14. Well my Dad got me hooked on The Red Green show, where he works he gets the CBC or canadien broadcasting channel but only because he works farther north than where we live, so we don't get it. Well would'nt you know it i was in a book store and i saw a Red Green show DVD, i told my Dad and he looked online and i believe amazon.com carries Red Green show DVDs so if you're looking for them try there or go to redgreen.com "So remember if the women dont find you handsome they should at least find you handy." Or my personal favorite "This is the handyman portion of the show we call, if it ain't broke you're not trying."
  15. Some people believe that all audio speakers are the same and that there is no difference between companies. Another group of people are very particular about speakers and certain companies and many have company loyalty and firmly stand their ground when contested. Many of them have studied speakers and speaker materials for many years and know which materials are best in making an audio speaker or what materials to look for when buying audio equipment. Knowing these facts several have spoken out on one company in particular more than any other company. The Bose company has been tricking people into buying their products for quite some time. By using cheap materials to cut costs and inefficient designs only to appeal to the public and they jack up the price and lull people in by using their status as a "respected" company to get people to spend good money for speakers that are not what they seem and are not worth the money people spend on them.Consumers looking for audio equipment should shop around and not base their decision on company status alone, they should make their decision on what sounds good to them and what they are going to use speakers for. This essay will state an opinion about Bose and other speaker companies.
