  1. hi guys. this is cut and paste from ecost.com (authorized dealer). please note they have these in stock ready to ship. they're also on the "bargain countdown". i have bought several products from ecost.com. they do a fine job.

    Denon

DVD-2200 Universal DVD/CD/SACD/DVD-Audio player with progressive scan Reconditioned by Denon

Independent power supplies for the audio and video sections eliminate any mutual distortion. And audio circuits are physically separated from video circuits, for amazingly noise-free picture and sound

    eCOST.com Part #2411004

    Mfg. Part #DVD2200 PC&

    Mac $279.00

  2. i can't say how the denon compares head to head vs. the panny. the older panny's are incredible. the importance of dvd-a and sacd is up to you. it is paramount to me. although i have not heard of 2 channel dvd-a, i'm sure it does sound good. i have the denon 2900 to utilize for dvd-a and sacd. simply put dvd-a is great, but to get the full effect it will cost you. the denon 2200 can be had for around $300. the samsung 841 can be had for $200.

  3. when you hook up a universal player to a av preamp/receiver, which component's dac's are utilized with:

    digital outs (coax/optical)

    2 channel analog

    6 channel analog (dvd/a)

i have heard differing stories regarding this. so someone please set the record straight. the reason i ask is because i am considering getting the zenith 318 to do video, but i know the dac's in my ref 50 are better. so i want to utilize the b&k for audio. likewise i have a denon 5900 on backorder. i believe the dac's in the denon are superior to my ref 50. so i want to use the denon's dac's in that case. i'm sure this is as clear as mud. thanks in advance for your response.

  4. i'm no expert by any means, but i do have a few thoughts on this subject as i have had similiar problems in the past. first off i believe your problem is your cable company. the response from charter cable was my signal was extremely low. they had someone come out and "turn it up". whatever that means. i found myself having to reset my modem and router continuously (at least twice per day) until they came to my house. i would unplug all connections including power connections, wait about one minute, plug everything back in starting with my wireless router, and cross my fingers to in hope that the reset would take. the resets worked for the first ten or twelve times, then that stopped working. once again my thoughts would be your cable company needs to help you with this one.

  5. channel islands is good equipment. i've got their passive preamp. they also make a dac which is quite good as well. i have not heard their monoblocks, but i would assume them to be of great quality. they are pretty affordable at $999 a pair as well. their size is amazing! as for jolida, i am an owner and supporter as well. their products are an amazing value. they are high quality products. if you like the sound of the channel islands, you would be amazed at the sound of a jolida tube. the 202a is 40 watts of tube power for $750 unmodded. the 100a cd player goes for $900 unmodded.
