kmill99
Hi Guys. I have bought Klipsch Cornwall's through several of you, but I am looking for a MINT Pioneer SX 1980 receiver. Anyone have any for sale, or know of anyone? Thanks in advance, Kevin
TNRabbit
Keep and eye out on ebay and audiogon. One recently went on ebay, in like new condition, for over $1600 I believe!
kmill99
Thanks TNRabbit. Nothing on Ebay, but I will go check audiogon. Kevin
kaiser SET say
I have not seen any 1980's out there but this clean 1080 is still avail. according to AG[] http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?miscrcvr&1233332625&/Pioneer-SX-1080
dp1954
I have a 1280 that I might be interested in selling that is not mint, but easily 9/10. I haven't used it in a couple of years, but it is a very nice unit. I'd let it go for 750 plus shipping. Its not mint because it has a tiny nick on the top front. You have to look to see it. Everything else is as it should be. dave
kaiser SET say
Nice one Dave, 185 thumping watts[] Had the earlier SX 1050 myself back in the day[]
dp1954
Yep the 1280 is a heck of a unit. Only thing is I went the tube route and no longer use it. It currently lives under my bed wrapped in a blanket. Nice and warm and hoping somebody wants it to come out and play. Just not the way I'm going at this point so I'd sell it if anybody is interested. If not its not hurting anything where its at. dave

kaiser SET say
I don't recall seeing one of those 270 Watt beast on A-goN in over 3 years as I always watch out for them, never know when some estate sale offers one for $100!!!!![]
kmill99
I hear ya. I wish I could join the list of people finding one at a garage sale for $20.
dp1954
Here's hoping you find an excellent 1980 at a reasonable price. Never settle for less than what you want. I have in the past and just ended up with both the 'settled' item and the one I should have purchased first. Settling for less than I wanted always seems to cost me money in the end. kmill99
Hi everyone. I have found 2 thus far. One is in perfect working condition, and I am awaiting to see if anything has been replaced or repaired. It is simply missing some of the lettering on the face, but I am certain I have a professional metal painter who can match that to a tee! The second has had a great deal of repair and I need your advice on if this is a good thing or not. I has had: the power supply rebuilt, Power supply board replaced, biased, tuner re-aligned, bad caps replaced, bad lights replaced and all switches and controls cleaned with deoxit. Your feedback is deeply appreciated. Kevin
Bill H.
EDIT: Kevin, upon reflection, and seeing the listing for #2 , it looks like the Better choice of the two....................A Plus is that it has been Serviced....... Good Luck ............
