kdjk5467
Slightly of topic? I would like to know what type of wood was used in the construction of the finished black Academy. I have oak Quartets and I'm getting at least one Academy (center to start) and could expand my search if I can refinish a finished black to match my existing. Of course, "matching" is a subjective concept I would reckon. Is there any reason I should *not* refinish other than possible aesthetic issues? I am not concerned about an exact match but I would like the general color to be close. -JK
SilverSport
The black painted Academy should be Oak veneer underneath...usually they were painted black because of some imperfection in the oak veneer that wouldn't pass quality control...I know that the black painted KLF-C7 I have is Oak underneath as there is a gooey spot where the previous owner had something attached and when I tried to remove this spot I found Oak...looks close to my Oak Oile Quartets as well...not sure I want to remove all that black paint but I have thought of it as well...good luck with your choice.
