Dropped Ceiling and Subs

have suspended ceilings, with ceramic tile recently instelled.

Room sounded WAY better with carpet.

Question ???

Will placing or stuffing fibergass above the ceilinng tiles help deaden the room ?

Things sound echoey now. almost like processor is stuck in a surround mode ??

Dont the ceiling tiles have to be porous for sound to go through them ?

If so, what good will fiberglass do ?

ka7niq: Regular ceiling tiles offer pretty much zero benefit to the room's sound in my humble opinion. And that is regardless of what's placed above them because, as you alluded too, they aren't porous. In fact, I consider standard ceiling tiles to add detriment to the room; they reflect, they buzz they pass sound to-and-from the next floor like they weren't there. If you wish to cut the reflection caused by the ceiling's reaction to the ceramic floor tile, the easiest way to remedy the situation in your particular situation is to retofit your existing ceiling grid with the same, 2"-thick, melamine foam acoustic tiles I spoke of earlier in this post. The can absorb up to 90% of the sonic energy that hits them. If you want isolation added to their absorption, then order them with a layer of sound block bonded to them and they will cut sound from bleeding between floors. -Glenn

I added fiberglass already, and it did make some differences, and in the bass too!

Plus, it keeps the room cooler in the Florida heat.

BTW, I was born in Detroit, raised in Hazel Park, and Warren.

Still miss the good people in Motown, always root for the Red Wings and Tigers.

Now, the LIONS, they are another story, LOL
