Klipsch In-Ceiling Speakers and Subwoofers

I just recently installed a pair of Klipsch CDT-5800-C speakers in the ceiling of my master bedroom.

The bedroom is approximately 15x17 with a vaulted ceiling. The speakers are connected to a Sonos ZP-120 55/watt per channel amplifier.

The rear of the speakers are completely exposed to the attic of the house with no enclosures built around them.

Like all my other Klipsch speakers in my house, the CDT-5800's sound fantastic whether listening to music from my Windows Home Server or with various on-line music services. While I had the listened to these speakers prior to purchasing them, I was still amazed at how loud and clear these speakers played in my master bedroom.

However having said all that, I was hoping to get a little more bass from the CDT-5800's than I currently am.

Since this is the master bedroom I do not want to get too crazy, however I was hoping to get a few opinions on the following:

1. Would creating an encloure in the attic for these speakers, or maybe using a Dynabox, help with the low frequencies of the CDT-5800-c speakers?

2. Should I just bite the bullet and purchase a small subwoofer for the bedroom? and if so any suggestions for a sub to match up with the CDT-5800's?

3. I also have a perfect place in the bedroom to install an in-wall subwoofer....any suggestions or comments???

As always any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi razz,

I helped a friend install 8 pair of RCR-5 (earlier version of CDT-5800) in the ceilings of his new home. Like you, he found the deep bass a little shy in the master bedroom. We added a Klipsch 12" sub (like the Sub-12) in the corner of the room behind a cabinet and it works beautifully. Crossover was 80Hz as I recall. He now has deep bass without getting rambunctious.

I can't help on the in-wall sub - no experience.

TommyK,

Thanks for the input.

I currently use a non amplified Zone Player in another room into a Yamaha receiver and you are right it sounds great. However since this is only the bedroom I was hoping to use the Zone Player with the amp but with a little more bass.

Thanks
