Hello, newbie here with a TYPE "E" question...

Recommended Posts

Thanks in advance...

I have a set of Heresy from 1975 or so...they have type E balancing networks in them.

What Id like to do is this...

Use just the midrange and the tweeters and eliminate the 12 in woofer.

1) Can I substitute a resistor for the woofer to keep the setup stable?

...or would I be better off substituting a small woofer?

Im trying to downsize the package a bit, yet retain the clarity of the mid/tweet section of this speaker.

2) What are the crossover points for this network?

Thanks again!

The HII is crossed at 700Hz and 6000Hz. The newer HIII moves the bass to mid up and dropps the mid to tweeter a bit.

I think the original is the same as the HII.

Why would you want to get rid of the woofer? These aren't big speakers by a long shot. If you want no bass, you should put these in the closet and buy some Bose. Once you come to your senses, hook your Heresies back up.

BOSE...thats funny, Ive actually had some 901s...3 pair....anyway

What I have going is this...

A pair of JBL J350 cabs with just a nice 12 inch in each one, this runs from a second amp.

I have a small set of "boxes" (paradigm, actually) That fit perfectly on top of the J350s and blend in like they belong there.

I want to put the Mid tweet horns in these boxes and most likely run a small...maybe 2, woofers...maybe 5 1/4s...this setup

will only run about 80-100hz & up, leaving the lowest to my subs...

Other idea was to run the 12s up to match the mids....lending the need for eliminating the woofer...
