altrdprcptn
I have the Quintet SL's connected to a Yamaha receiver and when I'm listening to a movie or anything with loud vocal range frequencies I am occasionally receiving a crackling or popping noise. Has anyone else had this problem? What could it be?
Islander
Is the noise coming from all your speakers, or maybe just from your sub? Just trying to narrow down the possibilities.
altrdprcptn
Appears to be coming from only the center channel and sometimes it sounds like the right front channel. To clarify a little more, it only seems to happen when i have the volume above -30db on the receiver and it is almost always during dialogue in a movie or tv show. Also, the settings on the receiver are all correct with low frequencies going only to the subwoofer and all channels are set to small speakers. gmc
I would rotate the right and left channel speakers, and temporarily use another speaker in place of your center, just to make sure that the problem is with the speakers and not the amp. If you are still getting noise from your center and right front after the swap, then it is the amp. If the problem with the center goes away, and the noise from the right moves to the left (with the suspect speaker), then it is the speakers. Islander
Have you checked to see that all your speaker cable connections are solid, at both ends? You might have a bad cable, bad speaker connectors, bad connectors on the receiver, for example.
gnatnoop
i had a similiar problem, turned out someone had put a rap cd in the player... seriously, i'd make sureall connections are tight, then change sources and see if you get the same problem,
