22-boogie
hello all. i have a question about how to go about setting the idle current on my pioneer. i have the service manual. my question is do you use both pots to reach the correct setting with the balance in the middle? this amp has only one negative and one positive test terminal per side but two pots for adjusting on each side left and right. im not going to adjust the trim pots untill i take a reading to see what it is. the manual is on line @ hifi. thanks
djk
One pot is for DC off-set, the other is for bias. Set the bias to 10mV across one emitter resistor, set the DC off-set to 0. They may interact a bit, so repeat a couple of times. Check after 30 minutes.
Rhadamanthus
Want a Pioneer SA8800 to go with it? I tried to give it away last month. For some reason, that didn't workout. It lights up, but does not work. You can have it for the shipping costs. It weighs 40lbs so you can figure the cost to ship. It is double boxed and ready to go.
