vandec54
Hello All I purchased a power conditioner/surge protector some time ago and I like to turn the power button off on it every night when I am done using my home theater. I have a type AAA personality and figure if I don't need it on, don't have it on. Does limit the effectivness of the surge protector? Does the surge protector need to be powered on to work or just powered on for the my home theater components to work? Thank you
wuzzzer
I'd highly doubt that the surge protection feature would be turned off with the unit itself turned off. It should just turn off the power to whatever you have plugged into it. Easiest thing to do is look at the manual or look online for information on the unit, it should tell you there. deafbykhorns
Depends on the surge protector, some only provide protection phase to ground and are switched. Some are line to line and line to nuetral. I'd be more worried about lightning strikes which induce voltage on cable and telephone wires.
