deafbykhorns
Looking for some opinions or experiences matching a sub to KHorns. A smaller footprint is more desirable but needs to keep up with the mighty Khorns.
Groomlakearea51
Wow! the forum name "deaf by khorns" certainly points to your "goals and objectives" LOLOL!!! Just kidding of course! Seriously, given that the Khorns go pretty far as is (for me..... [H]), I would think that one of the larger R series that Klipsch has probably would be a good place to look. There are a number of members on the forum who are specialists in the sub arena and will likely have some really good ideas of where to start looking, etc. Merry Christmas and best of luck in the search for elusive low end nirvana!! Rudy81
I'm not an expert and have only used two subs with my Khorns, both as a result of my research here on the forum. First, for years I used the SVS 20-39 PC+ which is no longer made, but can be picked up on ePay. It is a rather good sub with the Khorns and has a small foot print, but is tall. Great for movies as well and can go below 20 Hz. I subsequently got an RSW-15 and it is fantastic with the Khorns. Very quick, very precise with music. However, the RSW-15 is not that good with very low movie sound effects....at least not when head to head with my SVS. So, I ended up keeping the SVS and the RSW. One is used for only music, and the other is used only for movies. I think other subs I'd like to try are the Velodyne HGS-18, which should do the job of both movies and music very well, but they are hard to come by. Otherwise, a nice Epik might fit the bill. I know theEar has all the world's knowledge on subs so hopefully he will chime in. I have also been interested in some of the horn based subs guys are building. Some are pairing them to Jubilees. I might build one when I have the time just for grins. Good luck with your search.
deafbykhorns
I'd like to add these need to pass the WAF [6], lol. Those SVS would pass the WAF, you think two of these would be required for a 21x25' room? The woofer on the SVS box sub looks similar to the JL Audio 113 sub. I also read a couple good reviews on the Definitive Technology Supercube Trinity, some claim to beat the DD-18 Velodyne, it should at 185lbs and two 14" woofers. Rudy81
I have a 20'x27' room and one SVS is plenty of power to fill and shake the room.
