boa12
ok justin i actually read my sony dvdp manual (imagine that ) & it's giving both a video (in mbps) & audio (in kbps). my dts audio is sitting right at 75kbps. i think what u were reading above was the video bps rate. does it give u another rate for audio? ------------------ My Home Systems Page
boa12
bump-justin, can't believe u didn't see my above ?. btw, my source info was incorrect (thanks to trooper). the above is bit rate, not sampling rate. sampling rate for dvd video doesn't top 48k. & the dacs can't sample at a higher rate than the original recorded sample rate (48k tops). of course this doesn't apply to dvd-audio, sacd, hdcd. my guess w/ this queen i'm getting 96/24 dts audio only, i still won't get a sample rate of over 48khz, but hope for a higher bit rate than 75kbps (audio). will see. ------------------ My Home Systems Page This message has been edited by boa12 on 04-11-2002 at 11:00 PM
Ray Garrison
uh, boa... If your DTS is sampled at 48kHz, and your bitrate is 75kHz, that would imply a word length of a bit (sorry...) under two bits per sample. Which would seem a mite low for resonable high fidelity sampling... the phone samples at 8 bits... I'm not sure what the "75kHz" display is showing you, but it's not the rate at which the little bitty bits are moving through the wires... ------------------ Music is art Audio is engineering Ray's Music System
boa12
ray wondering when you'd join this. this takes some computer tech knowledge like yours. the 75 is kbps though. sorry if i said khz - trying to correct my misinfo now. ------------------ My Home Systems Page
Mlstrass
<<<boa12, i think they kinda dropped the ball on the t2 mixing.jmo.>>> I'll second that opinion. Still a good movie but the audio level/quality is all over the place....
m00n
OMG! You guys know this stuff like I know PC's. Funny because a lot of times I start talking about all this PC stuff and people are like... HUH? That is exactly how I feel after reading this thread. ------------------ m00n
bensilb
Any body notice how much power DD consumes.
